## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.6 — 2026-08-17

- Imported recipes now use your Measurement System setting. Many recipe sites publish metric and US measurements, but show only one at a time. When a site does this, Plate imports the measurements that you prefer, in the ingredient list and in the steps. The setting is at Settings > Measurement System. It starts on US in the United States, and on metric in all other countries.
- Plate now uses the system font as the default. The previous font is still available: select Analog at Settings > Font. If you already selected a font, Plate keeps your selection.
- Plate now reads metric measures commonly used in Europe. Recipes written in decagrams (dag, dkg, deka), hectograms (hg), decilitres (dl), and centilitres (cl) now identify them as units.
- Scaled metric amounts change to the correct unit. If you double "750ml", Plate shows "1.5l" and not "1500ml". If you scale "1kg" to a quarter, Plate shows "250g".
- A step that gives a time as a decimal ("bake for 1.5 hours") now starts a timer with the correct duration.
- If you import a photo that has no recipe text, Plate now tells you to photograph the page with the ingredients and the steps.
- An import from a URL could finish with an empty screen, and no editor. Plate now shows the editor.
- The recipe screens and the settings screens are faster.
- The first recipe that you open after you start the app opens faster.

### 1.0.5 — 2026-08-09

- Plate is now free to download. Keep up to 15 recipes with every feature included: importing, cook mode, timers, meal planning, shopping lists, and sync, plus 3 photo, PDF, or text imports each week. If you bought Plate before it went free, you have been upgraded to Plate Pro automatically.
- The Sync Status screen has been improved so you have a better idea what is being sent and received.
- Adding a recipe's ingredients to your shopping list no longer fails silently when Plate does not yet have access to Reminders.
- Deleting a recipe that was on a meal plan left that meal plan entry behind in iCloud, and the leftover caused a blank recipe to appear on every fresh install. Deleting the blank recipe clears it for good.
- Importing a file that contains recipes you already have now keeps the photos it already holds instead of replacing every one, so a re-import finishes faster.
- Scrolling performance been improved while iCloud is actively syncing recipes.
- A step that gives a time as a range in words ("a minute or two", "an hour or two", "two or three minutes") is now successfully identified as a range.
- Importing from a site that puts its times in the page text ("Total time: 30 minutes", "Cook Time 1 hour 10 mins") now picks them up, instead of leaving them blank.

### 1.0.4 — 2026-07-28

Bugfixes & Improvements:

- Zoom added to built in Camera mode
- Improvements and fixes to photo and PDF importing.
- Temperatures written with the "deg" abbreviation ("330 Deg F", "200 deg") are now highlighted and tappable for conversion.

### 1.0.3 — 2026-07-25

Features:

- A redesigned timer Live Activity - The Lock Screen and Dynamic Island now show your most urgent timer with the recipe's photo, a large countdown, and a progress bar, with the rest of your timers listed below it.
- Act on search results together - Select Recipes in Search's new More menu lets you choose several recipes, and do something with them in one go.
- Manage your sidebar like folders - Tap Edit to rearrange collections by dragging; rename or delete any collection or category and merge categories together by dragging one onto another.
- See exactly what a refresh will change - Refresh from Source now has a Changes view: switch to it to see removed text struck through in red and additions in green. Revert any undesired change with a tap.
- Choose your Cook Mode text size - A new setting controls how much larger ingredients and steps appear in Cook Mode.

Fixes:

- Several fixes to fraction handling and other text cleanups on import.
- Categories or collections that existed twice in your library are merged into one.
- Long recipe names now wrap onto multiple lines in the editor instead of truncating.
- Exporting a very large recipe library no longer produces an unreadable archive.
