## What is Plated?

Plated is a nutrition and training app for people who actually log. Scan a barcode, finish a set, run a route — and see the whole picture in one place instead of three apps that don't talk to each other.

NUTRITION
• Calories left and a ring per macro, against targets the goals calculator sets for you
• Scan a barcode to log a packaged food in seconds — live, or from a photo you already took
• Search a large food database and foods other users have added
• Restaurant menus from 49 US chains, from each chain's published nutrition
• Build a custom food or a multi-ingredient recipe once, then log it in a tap
• Copy a previous day, lay out your meals your way, and keep a logging streak

TRAIN
• Start from a saved workout or build one as you go; the timer keeps running while you use the rest of the app
• Tick sets as you finish them — PRs are spotted automatically
• Pick the machine you're on; each brand keeps its own history and PRs
• Cardio for outdoor runs and machines, with free GPS route tracking, per-mile splits, elevation and stickers of your route and PRs
• Import your whole history from Hevy, Strong and other apps, and export it any time as a CSV
• Workouts are written to Apple Health

PROGRESS
• A calendar of every day you trained
• Steps and walking distance from Apple Health — a year of it, with totals over any range you pick
• Bodyweight and body measurements, logged any day and charted over time
• Switch between lb/in and kg/cm

FEED & PROFILE
• Share a workout, a meal or a run; follow friends and see what they're doing
• Four views of you: posts, workouts, awards and an overview of your numbers
• Go private and only approved followers see your posts
• Report or block from any post; reports are reviewed within 24 hours
• Dark or light mode, in Settings

PLATED PRO
Everything above is free. Pro adds the parts that lean on AI, sensors and your training history:
• AI label scanner — reads nutrition labels in any language — and AI food lookup, for anything a barcode can't answer
• Fill My Macros — dinner suggestions built from your own foods
• Rest-day targets — fewer carbs on the days you rest: carb cycling that keeps the week's calories the same, or simply lower rest days. Protein and fat stay put, and you can switch any day between rest and training
• Calorie calculator — turn any macro split into a calorie total
• Micronutrients for every food and meal, and each day against the FDA Daily Value
• Live heart rate from a chest strap, watch or band, recorded onto the session
• Progressive overload — the next weight and reps to aim for, from what you have already lifted
• Training analytics — a muscle heatmap, and per-exercise charts of max weight, estimated one-rep max, best set and volume
• Your whole workout history, all time (free accounts browse the last 60 days; nothing is deleted)
• Compare with friends — their muscle heatmap and workout calendar, all time, beside yours
• Story stickers of a whole workout, one exercise or one set
• A plate calculator — what to load on each side of the bar, from the plates you own, in kg or lb
• Unlimited saved workouts (free accounts keep four)
• Save workouts and exercises from other people's posts into your own library
• Send a food or recipe directly to a friend
• No ads

Plated Pro is a monthly auto-renewing subscription, with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. Payment is charged to your Apple ID when the trial ends, or at purchase if there is no trial. It renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before it ends. Manage or cancel it in your Apple ID settings.

Plated is a tracking tool, not medical advice. Calorie and macro targets are estimates; talk to a professional before changing your diet or training around them.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.0.5 — 2026-10-27

• Stickers for your story: tap Make a sticker when you finish a workout, or ••• on your post. Make one of your route or your PRs, or with Plated Pro the whole workout, one exercise (its sets, its top set or its progress) or one set, and choose which pieces show. Only working and failure sets count. Saves to Photos as a transparent PNG.
• A new muscle heatmap on the Progress tab: front and back figures that glow orange where you've trained hardest. Tap a muscle to see its sets, sessions, when you last trained it and which exercises did the most.
• Pick the machine you're on: tap Machine on an exercise during a workout and choose the brand, like Cybex or Hammer Strength, or type your own. Each machine keeps its own history, PRs, charts and photo.
• One side or both sides: switch an exercise between them and Plated asks how its max weight should count, like one dumbbell or the plates on both sides of a hack squat, so every session compares the same way. Change it any time in Edit exercise.
• Assisted Pull Up: enter the machine's assistance and Plated takes it off your bodyweight, so needing less help shows up as progress. Mark your own exercises as Assisted too.
• An exercise's first session counts as a PR, so a new machine gets its record the first day you use it.
• Change your name and username any time: tap your name on your profile, or Name in Settings.
• Bike to the gym and back in one workout: pause or stop your ride, lift, then continue it. With lifts in the workout, the workout timer keeps running while the ride is paused, on screen and on the Lock Screen.
• Rides: a new ride starts from zero, GPS on an exercise opens the map straight away, the workout screen matches the map's time and distance, a Back to workout bar sits on the map, and Finish offers to stop the ride and finish in one step.
• Adding exercises: a Cardio filter right after All, Outdoor (GPS) or Indoor on every cardio exercise, pictures for every indoor machine, muscle filters that include secondary muscles, and results you can scroll up from behind the keyboard.
• A tidier exercise card: Machine, a Both sides / One side switch and Plates in one row, the volume beside your set count, a one-line suggestion, and Muscles and Remove under •••. Tap the exercise name for its history.
• Try Plated Pro free for 7 days.
• Edit or delete your own foods: tap ••• on any of My foods.
• Take the tour: every screen, one button at a time. Open it any time from How-to guide in Settings.
• Post photos show square, like Instagram, and swipe when there are several. Photos load and upload much faster, and a tapped photo opens straight away.
• Exercise charts on the Progress tab are open to everyone: the last 7 days free, every session with Plated Pro.
• The heart-rate chart fills the screen during a workout and on the finish screen.
• A workout counts toward the day you started it, even if you finish after midnight.
• Log & update template works for workouts you saved from the feed, and sharing your profile includes a link to download Plated.
• Fixes: no black screen when creating an exercise mid-workout, a ride stays a ride after you reorder exercises, big numbers on stickers no longer run together, and Google sign-ins get your name instead of "Athlete". The How Plated Works guide shows the new design.

### 1.0.4 — 2026-10-13

• A new look across the app: cleaner screens, one accent color, numbers that line up, and feed posts that read as one block.
• Light mode. Choose Dark or Light in Settings > Appearance.
• Cleaner charts everywhere: round numbers on the axes, labels that never overlap, and a smooth heart-rate line.
• During a workout: ticked sets stand out, removed sets and exercises slide away, the list keeps your place, every field scrolls above the keyboard, and each exercise has a History button.
• Protein, carbs and fat on your logged foods now match the colors of the macro rings, and each food's brand and amount are easier to spot.
• The barcode button on the Nutrition tab now says Scan, and a failed AI label scan tells you what went wrong and what to do next.
• Remove a workout you saved from the feed from My library, and find exercises from your past workouts in search.
• Goals is a named button in the header again; send feedback from Settings.

### 1.0.3 — 2026-10-10

• Fixed a slow connection at launch being able to replace newer data from your other devices with an older copy.
• Your workout history is now kept for good. Every workout counts toward your total, your PRs and your export, however long ago it was.
• Past workouts show the name you gave them, with the date underneath.
• Fix a set logged wrong in a past workout: open the exercise's history, pick the session and tap EDIT WORKOUT.
• Long exercise names show in full on the workout screen.
• Fixed micronutrients climbing every time a saved food was logged again — sodium and potassium could read far too high. Past entries are corrected automatically.
• A meal's macros are now rings showing how much of the day's goal it covers.
• Micronutrients for a food or a meal are now part of Plated Pro, alongside the daily breakdown.
• At the saved-workout limit, Plated now tells you that deleting one makes room, and takes you to My Library.
• Compare with friends across all time: their muscle heatmap shows what they train most, beside yours.
• New in Plated Pro: a plate calculator. Tell it your bar, collars and plates once, and it shows what to load on each side — from the Train tab, or from any exercise mid-workout, straight into the set. Tap the X on a plate to take it off, or clear the bar in one tap.
• Plated Pro now includes your whole history and comparing with friends. Free accounts browse the last 60 days; nothing is deleted, so upgrading shows all of it.
• Restaurant menus are built in: search 49 US chains — Chipotle, Chick-fil-A, Starbucks, Olive Garden and more — with nutrition straight from each chain's published numbers.
• Log restaurant foods by the serving, in grams or ounces, or by the piece — one wing, one nugget, one slice of pizza.
• AI label scan now reads nutrition labels in any language, including labels that list energy in kJ, salt instead of sodium, or values per 100 g.
• A new PR to chase: most reps in a set, shown the moment you beat it.
• New in Plated Pro: your estimated one-rep max, charted in every exercise's history.
• New in Plated Pro: rest-day targets. Pick your rest days and Plated lowers that day's carbs: carb cycling, which gives them back on training days so the week's calories stay the same, or simply lower-calorie rest days. Protein and fat don't change. A logged workout makes the day a training day, and the chip under the date switches any day by hand. Set it up with your goals, or from Nutrition > Tools & Settings.
• One-side exercises like dumbbell bench now show the weight you moved per side. Volume still counts both.
• Runs, walks and rides posted without a photo now show their route on your profile.
• The run sticker's options stay in place as you pick them, under a preview that scrolls on its own.
• Private profiles are now private everywhere: only followers you approve can see your posts, workouts and follower list.
• Posted runs no longer show your route unless you turn on Show route on the post, and then without the first and last 200 m, so the map never shows where you set off from. Heart rate is shown only when you turn on Show heart rate on the post.
• Finish a workout without posting it: FINISH WITHOUT POSTING saves it to your history and nothing else.
• Calorie targets never go below 1,200 kcal (1,500 for men), whether Plated works them out or you type them in.
• Export your food log and your weight and body measurements as CSV files, free, from Settings.
• Food search shows results as each source answers, instead of waiting for the slowest.
• Goals opens with your saved birthday, height and weight instead of asking for them again.
• Body weight is entered to one decimal place, in Goals and on the Progress tab.
• Following a private account shows Requested, and private profiles show their counts.
• Swipe a notification left to delete it.
• Editing goals shows your current targets beside the suggested ones.
• Exercise history charts show kilograms for metric accounts.
