## What is Plateknow?

Photograph the plate and see what it is made of: protein, carbohydrate and fat on every meal, and fibre, sugars and sodium whenever they can be read. Then, a few hours later, one short question — how did that sit? — filed next to the meal.

WHAT THE PLATE IS MADE OF
Every meal carries its own protein, carbohydrate and fat. Fiber, sugars and sodium appear when the food or its packet will carry them, marked as the rougher guesses they are — tap any of them and the app says what it is, why it is less certain, and each one measured against the U.S. FDA's label reference, with the date it was last checked. A nutrition panel in the frame is read on the phone rather than estimated, and a figure off a packet is marked as the manufacturer's, not ours.

WHAT HELD YOU LONGEST
The app asks how full you were, and after a few weeks it can say which of your meals held you longest — read from your own answers, not from a target somebody set. No plan prescribes the plate here; your own record reports it.

That pair — the plate and what followed it — is the whole product. Enough of them and the app tells you what it noticed: on the days you logged fried, digestion read uneasier later. Your readings, against your own average.

THE NUMBER IS OPTIONAL
One switch removes every calorie, gram and percentage from every screen. The photographs, the dish names, the corrections and the check-ins all stay, and the app never asks you to turn them back on. Turn the numbers off in a calorie tracker and nothing is left. Turn them off here and what remains is the point.

WHAT'S IN IT
- Protein, carbohydrate and fat on every meal, with fibre, sugars and sodium when they can be read
- Ingredients, appetite and energy, each a tap deep
- The plate cut out of its background on your phone
- Post-meal check-ins on digestion, fullness, energy, focus, calm and mood
- Weekly patterns, longer horizons with Pro
- Nutrition label scanning, on-device
- Search by food, feeling, or what was in it
- Dishes named in your language, including food a Western database misses
- Ten free AI estimates a day

PRIVACY
Your meals sync through your own iCloud, in a private database we cannot read. Body photographs never leave the phone. There is no account and no password. What is sent for an estimate is the cut-out of the food — never the whole photograph, never your face, never where you were. Estimates only: Plateknow diagnoses nothing and is not a medical device.

SUBSCRIPTION
Plateknow Premium is an auto-renewing subscription, monthly or yearly. The yearly plan starts with a one-week free trial; the monthly does not. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase and renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings. The ten free estimates a day are not part of it.

COMMON QUESTIONS
How accurate is it, and how does it judge portion size?
It estimates rather than measures, so it gives a range. On iPhones with two rear cameras it also reads depth, telling a flat plate from a heaped bowl — a difference a single flat photo cannot show, and one that can be more than double what is there. Depth only widens or narrows the range, never the number. Correct a dish once and your own figure is used next time.

Can I track protein and fiber without counting calories?
Yes. One switch removes every calorie, gram and percentage; the plates, the dish names and the check-ins all stay. There is no streak, no daily deficit and no word for going over.

What helps with bloating after a meal?
The app diagnoses nothing. It records what you ate and asks a few hours later how it sat, so the pattern is yours rather than a general rule.

Can I use it for weight management without a diet plan?
It prescribes nothing. It keeps the meal, the reaction, and which meals held you longest.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.11 — 2026-09-17

Today moves with you: swipe between days, or open the month to see each day's meals, check-ins and doses at a glance.
Around the day lists what surrounded your meals: sleep, workouts, steps, coffee, tea and alcohol, and in Taiwan the weather.
Record a medication plan your prescriber set, such as a GLP-1, and log each dose from Today or with Siri. The app records the plan and never suggests a dose.
Add what a meal cost, then read the day back as a dashboard or a short story, or with Premium as the value of your plates and the journey of your plan.
The Right now widget offers the one thing worth doing next: a check-in to answer, a dose to log, or a meal to photograph.
Just curious: look up a plate without adding it to your day. It is kept in Looked up, and "I ate this" saves it to today.
On the plate names the protein, fibre and unsaturated fat sources in a meal, and Today shows protein across the day.
On iOS 27, Apple Intelligence can answer your questions and read your plates with Private Cloud Compute, which keeps nothing. You can switch it off in Me.
The camera recovers when a capture is dropped, and the Lock Screen camera now speaks your language.

### 1.9 — 2026-09-14

What the plate is made of now comes first: protein, carbs and fat, with fiber, sugars and sodium a tap away, each beside your region's official label reference where one exists.
Meals show what the fat is: saturated and unsaturated, from plants and from animals.
Several dishes in one meal each keep their own photo, and each photo can carry a note.
Today opens on a glance at the day, with the week across the top. Tap a day to see it.
Notifications have one screen, and questions you no longer need leave the lock screen.
Changing the app's language applies at once, and the camera holds focus on a label held close.

### 1.8 — 2026-09-11

Plateknow now speaks German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Thai and Vietnamese, and names your dishes in your language.
Check-in questions arrive between 10:00 and 22:00 by default. Choose your own hours in Me, under Notifications, and the reminder learns when you usually answer.
Several photos of the same meal now get one question instead of one each.
Where Apple Intelligence does not read your language yet, Ask answers in English and can translate on your phone.
The first screen and the paywall fit smaller phones, and the logged screen keeps its button within reach of your thumb.

### 1.7 — 2026-09-10

Health, your way: pick exactly what Plateknow reads and writes, and log water right from Today.
Find a meal from Spotlight or Shortcuts, and long-press any meal on Today to edit, duplicate or answer its check-in.
Watch a milestone reel before you share it.
Plateknow now speaks Japanese and Korean, and names your dishes in your language.
Fibre, sugar and salt now open a short explanation of what the figure means.

### 1.6 — 2026-09-09

Plateknow now notices more of what a meal sat beside, and it can reach you in more places without being opened.

- One camera. The photograph decides what it is — a plate, a nutrition panel, a menu, or you — so there are no modes to choose between first. What is left of today's estimates is shown at the top as a proportion.
- A new page in Me, Where Plateknow can live, gathers every place the app can be: the Home Screen widget, Camera Control and the Action Button, the Lock Screen widget, notifications, and the phrases Siri answers to. It also carries the switch for the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, which had no home until now.
- Photographs are kept when they cannot be estimated. If you are offline, or the day's estimates have run out, the meal waits in the timeline with the reason it is waiting, and finishes when you ask it to. You can also photograph a meal deliberately without analysing it.
- What a meal was served in is now one of the things patterns can be drawn across, alongside how you slept, whether you trained, and how much you drank that day.
- Fluid is now a kind of day. Days you drank less or more than your own usual can carry a finding, banded against your own middle rather than a target. The published guidance behind it is on the Sources screen with a name on it.
- Fixed: buying more estimates now finishes the meal it interrupted rather than only lifting the limit. Restore has a name on it and speaks your language. Close-up focus works again when depth is on.
