### 3/5 — Stopped working with 18.6 Update

*2025-08-02, version 2.0.12*

We’ve had our Hunter Douglas motorized shades for over 10 years with only a few issues but now it seems the app is obsolete after installing iOS 18.6

Has anyone else experienced this?

### 2/5 — iPhone 12 Pro

*2021-10-11, version 2.0.12*

Il ne fonctionne pas avec mon iPhone 12 Pro j’espère que pouvez remédier à la situation.😢🙏

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2018-07-12, version 2.0.12*

Disappointed that Hunter Douglas has abandoned its customers that have paid thousands of dollars for blinds. The app no longer works with my shades and they have discontinued this line. Please update the app! The bridge blinks red and green looking to pair with the app and nothing happens.

### 4/5 — Fixed some issues

*2018-03-05, version 2.0.12*

I’m glad the Platinum App has been updated. It was previously losing the Wi-Fi connection. This was a big issue as the shades would not follow the schedule which could not be fixed until I returned from a vacation. Please keep supporting this App.

### 2/5 — Finally updated

*2018-02-25, version 2.0.12*

Imagine my surprise when I opened the app yesterday to discover that it just...worked. No flipping back and forth between screens, no ritualized quit, reopen, quit, reopen cycle...the app just performed the one, singular function it was designed to do, without angst or drama. Obviously I went to check the version history, and lo and behold - the first update in 2 years.

Kudos to whoever fought to get this piece of garbage app actually updated - it’s obviously not a priority of Hunter Douglas’, so to whoever finally fixed it, and whoever made that happen? Your work is vastly appreciated, and you deserve 5 stars. Thank you, mysterious dev team.

THAT SAID, “working” is a low, low bar to clear, and Hunter Douglas has completely abandoned a big segment of their user base. A big company should be able to do much better than one update in two years, which means that you saw the one-star ratings and complaints, and just chose to let this one ride for two years. Can’t wait to eventually escape your ecosystem, but in the meantime, I’ll just keep making sure nobody else I know buys in.

### 1/5 — Betrayed

*2018-02-05, version 2.0.11*

App is terrible. Stopped supporting it when they came out with a new system. Shame on them.

### 2/5 — Help us

*2018-01-14, version 2.0.11*

This app desperately needs an update to improve connectivity, layout, and bugs. If they could somehow fix ghost programs that cause my blinds to randomly go up at 3 o'clock in the morning, that would be a bonus.

### 1/5 — Nearly useless.

*2017-08-17, version 2.0.11*

Pro: Via a kludgey interface you can set presets that will occur at specific times on specific days.

Con: However, even though I have top-down blinds, there's no way to schedule the tops to come down, only the bottoms to go up. For my east-facing bedroom windows, this means that I have wake up with the sun in my eyes instead of on the roof.

Con: Further, if you don't open the app via your phone about once a week—which helps synchronize the time—the timer drifts quickly enough that you can't use the blinds as an accurate alarm clock. Within a couple weeks the blinds will be opening 15+ minutes too late.

Confusing interface includes a "Test Repeater" button that does nothing when pressed, and a "Recalculate Sunrise/Sunset" button that asks for your lat/long...and also appears to do nothing.

It's an application that's justifiable if you were a first-time app developer. It's unacceptably poor quality for a company like Hunter-Douglas.

### 1/5 — App now loses memory

*2017-05-01, version 2.0.11*

My app worked fine for years. Now when I open the app it loses the memory for my settings. I have thousands invested in this system and they don't work.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2016-10-25, version 2.0.11*

Agree completely with E.R.R. Bought this product a few months before PowerView was realeased and left high and dry. This is an almost useless product – the dumbest smart home product at home. Will never buy hunter Douglas again.

### 1/5 — Works, but...

*2016-06-29, version 2.0.11*

This app does the job, but God, it's ugly. Not only is it ugly, the interface is terrible - every time I use it, it takes me ages to work out to link up the scenes and rooms and timers and so on. Absolutely dreadful.

### 4/5 — Apple watch

*2016-06-25, version 2.0.11*

Great app overall and thanks for the hard work on the updates.

But I've just learned you dumped ALL Powerise customers forever to create a separate, non-compatible platform? WITH the Apple Watch I've been asking for for a year?

I spent thousands of dollars on this system, to be abandoned? Give us an Apple Watch app at least, please!!!

### 1/5 — What the Hey.

*2016-06-01, version 2.0.11*

Effing shade router is not working for the billionth time.

### 1/5 — Horrible unreliable and unintuitive

*2016-03-23, version 2.0.11*

I don't know what else to say. This is hands-down the worst app I've ever used on any iOS system. I could almost forgive the dimwitted set up paradigm if the app functioned reliably once set up was accomplished. But alas ,it does not

### 1/5 — Weak Effort

*2016-01-13, version 2.0.11*

No reason for this app and bride to not connect or integrate with IFTTT or the Harmony Hub. Their new power view will connect with the harmony hub. My blinds are not even a year old and I can’t upgrade to power view. No excuse for such poor customer service!

### 2/5 — Buggy and primitive

*2015-12-30, version 2.0.11*

The app has some useful features like setting up rooms and preset positions but it bugs out often. About half the time, the app switches by itself between the opening page and the shades page, preventing you from selecting an option. Small fixes by Hunter Douglas could make this a great app.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2015-12-30, version 2.0.11*

This is the worst setup imaginable. Hopefully you'll read this before buying and instead buy the competitions product. This is the least convenient automatic window treatment/blinds setup I've ever experienced. Wish I never bought.

### 2/5 — Too Many Constraints

*2015-11-26, version 2.0.11*

There are three artificial constraints within this app – hence the negative review. Two of them are simply an annoyance, and a workaround for each can be [somewhat] easily developed. The third, scheduling, defeats the intent of the app – the only workaround is integration into a home automation system, such as Control4; or manually making adjustments every few weeks, thus reverting an app back into a manual system.

The scheduling component of the app allows for specific time of day, or one hour before/after sunrise and sunset. That is unacceptable in the Denver, Colorado metro area (ironically where HD automation is headquartered) where, if you have high windows facing the mountains, the sun needs to be blocked at least three hours before sunset (especially in the summer). Their recommendation of using a specific time of day and then adjusting that every couple of weeks is nonsense – change the app!

The constraint of only allowing eight shades can be easily worked around. In our case we have “great room upper” as one room, and “great room lower” as another. It’s a pain, but it’s workable (does require some advance planning, however). The other constraint is really a programming issue – it seems the DB commit is only performed when you hit the back button on the bottom of the screen. Since setting up rooms and scenes is not something that is done all the time (and making a mistake is hopefully even less often), it really is only a pain when initially setting up the system (or re-programming).

My only other complaint is the lack of documentation on the platinum bridge – which is not part of this app – but it’s what the app relies upon. In our case we couldn’t get the app to work at all until we figured out how to wipe out everything and start over.

### 1/5 — Don't waste your $375... Or even $1

*2015-11-07, version 2.0.11*

Deserves NO stars. This is the crappiest home automation equipment/app I've ever used! It's worse than x10 products in the '90s. Glitchy, buggy, half works half the time. So that's a generous 25%. Will drive you crazy guaranteed. Oh... AND it's NOT a remote connection - only works from the app IF you're on the same wifi network as the bridge AND it's NOT internet connected. Buyer beware!!!

### 1/5 — Awful

*2015-09-23, version 2.0.11*

Looks like it was written by a school kid at the weekend.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Spent thousands of dollars and now app is outdated

*2024-03-21, version 2.0.12*

Spent thousands of dollars getting this product in my house about 10yrs ago and now the app doesn’t work and they don't seem to care. I do t have thousands more to upgrade and it’s kind of wrong of them to not put out the update for this to work for the customers that spent that kind of money in the past. New customers beware , this is how they treat you

### 1/5 — App

*2024-02-25, version 2.0.12*

The app doesn’t work.

### 1/5 — Unsupported and now abandoned by Hunter Douglas

*2023-04-11, version 2.0.12*

It worked well until it didn’t. Shame on them for charging so much money and then leaving us all in the ditch with no tech support.

### 1/5 — Awful. Forced to replace blinds

*2022-12-05, version 2.0.12*

The Controller is terrible and without updates for years. To the point where I cannot get any of my blinds to work and have to rip and replace.

### 1/5 — Awful in every way

*2022-04-29, version 2.0.12*

A terrible, terrible app. Totally unreliable. Impossible to program. Seems to agree to new settings based on phase of the moon or the weather pattern, but not what buttons you push in the app. It’s hard to imagine a development team that could make something this straightforward so impossible to use.

### 1/5 — No Remote Access??!

*2021-01-29, version 2.0.12*

How, in this day and age, there not be remote access to the shades from this app. It makes me feel like I made a mistake in buying Hunter Douglas👎👎👎👎👎

### 1/5 — iOS 14 issues

*2020-12-15, version 2.0.12*

With the release of iOS 14 earlier this year, this app is close to being non-functional. The app will jump between the loading screen and your scenes constantly claiming a loss of network connection. If you have quick fingers you can eventually tap on one of your scenes but that’s it. You don’t have any time to set up routines or update groups. Please fix this app as it is a great way to control the shades!

### 1/5 — Hunter Douglas app

*2020-11-23, version 2.0.12*

What a miserable application this is – – it really bad don’t buy that product.

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2020-10-01, version 2.0.12*

This app needs major improvements.

### 1/5 — Hunter Douglass is the worst

*2020-06-14, version 2.0.12*

It rarely ever works. I constantly have to reset the blinds for the blinds that aren’t up on my super high vaulted ceilings. And there is no upgrade path except to redo the entire thing.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Works great!

*2015-07-02, version 2.0.9*

I see lots of complaints about this app but we got ours to work just GREAT! It took a while but with the help of the online guide that walked us through setting up the automatic schedule for our Duette blinds, (and calling their very helpful support line once), it all worked beautifully. Yes, these blinds are expensive. Yes, it was a bit of a challenge setting up the app. In the end though, well worth it!

### 5/5 — Great add-on

*2015-04-13, version 2.0.9*

I read the reviews. I have no problems with my Platinum app to operate my Hunter Douglas shades. I have a patio door and one window shade. Set up was easy. My installer got it up and running in minutes. I handled the rest setting up timers and scenes. No problem so far. Timer feature is great. They close in the evening and open in the morning. A bit pricey for the motorized feature but I love it.

### 5/5 — Perfect now

*2015-01-12, version 2.0.9*

We had this installed about a year ago, and we did have problems. It often would not hook up with our Internet. Our windows are all very close to each other, so using the hand control to do just one at a time was difficult. We also have 27 windows which wrap around our whole apartment.we were very frustrated at times, especially given the cost of the product and installation.

So getting this to work was very important. We got a new combination modem/Router (Motorola), and unbeknownst to us the software on the app was upgraded. Everything has worked perfectly for weeks now.

I also have a brand-new iPhone and iPad, and I don't know if that makes any difference, but I am ecstatic thatwe now have everything going in the right direction. I mentioned all the hardware changes because they are variables also, but maybe it was just the software.

A great app!

### 5/5 — The idea is great and now it works well

*2014-10-23, version 2.0.9*

They finally fix the sunrise and sunset with there update. I love the idea and the concept, its a great app. If they can also make it when your away to control it would even make it better.

### 5/5 — Makes my life easier!

*2014-07-06, version 2.0.8*

I should have downloaded this long ago...this app works great. The timer function is awesome and makes my life so much easier. Well done.

### 5/5 — Works Great particularly for intermediate settings.

*2014-03-04, version 2.0.7*

I have two rooms that have three HD Sillouette shades in three windows in each room. This App makes it easy to set intermediate shade levels. Using a slider it is easy to set a specific height or angle for all three shades at the same time.

Setting up the App is a little confusing at first but once you get the hang of it actually quite easy.

### 5/5 — Perfect

*2014-02-23, version 2.0.7*

The App is great for my honeycomb blinds. Super easy. Slide the bar up and the blinds go up, slide the bar down and they go down. I set up a routine so they automatically go down at night. Highly recommend it as an inexpensive add on to Hunter Douglas blinds.

### 5/5 — Sunshade

*2014-01-31, version 2.0.7*

As a window covering dealer I am really impressed with this app. It's hands down the easiest way to automate Hunter Douglas shades. The ease of use an simplicity of the interface makes it an easy setup for the end user. I've set it up many different ways in our showroom and out home an it works like a dream. Although it will never replace hardwired window coverings, If you haven't already pre wired for blinds then this is the way to go.

### 5/5 — GREAT APP!

*2013-07-05, version 1.1.2*

We just had our Nantucket shade installed along with the remote bridge. We have had no problems, and love how it works. With the wall remote you can open / close the shade, but not stop midway. You can also open / close the vanes. With the APP, there are many things that can be done. Not only can the shade open / close, but you can stop it partway. You can also open the vanes partway. In addition, you can set the shades and vanes to open / close at set times on specific days. I have everything set automatically so I never even have to think about opening / closing them.

My understanding is that there will be an update this fall to operate them remotely. That will be great, but since I have timers set there will not be as much of a need as I had thought there would be.

It's too bad the Hunter Douglas people know very little about how powerful this APP is. Some we spoke knew nothing about it!

### 5/5 — Awesome!!!!

*2013-01-03, version 1.0.2*

Hey Aitchbee

This app is awesome!!!!! Not sure what you are doing wrong. Did you buy the bridge kit needed to work with the 2.1 platinum power rise shades?
