## What is Play 123, Alfie Atkins?

Play with numbers and learn mathematics together with Alfie Atkins! Children love learning new things through play. This app, Play 123, Alfie Atkins, stimulates children’s learning skills by clearly connecting the function and purpose of numbers and simple mathematical symbols in an experimental, playful way.

In his kitchen, Alfie has a recipe book with all kinds of amazing recipes that he likes cooking for himself, his family and friends. By tracing and writing the numbers on the screen, children will learn the appearance and sound of each number and train their motor skills and muscle memory. Using these numbers and simple mathematics children will then be able to cook dishes in the game that can be decorated with spices and other extras, which spawns creativity and results in many laughters as the dishes are served to Alfie and his family and friends. New decorations and recipes are unlocked as children progress in the game which motivates long-lived gameplay and enables continuous learning in a fun and pedagogic environment.

The app has been developed and tested in collaboration with teachers and students in schools in Finland and Sweden, the pedagogic parts have been developed together with researchers at the Faculty of Educational Sciences at the University of Helsinki. The app has been developed based on children's needs and does not feature points, time limits or other elements that could lead to failure or stress. Children will play and learn using the app on their own terms and at their own pace, in preschool, at school or at home.

Nach meinen zwei Rezensionen für Willi Wiberg antwortete der Entwickler mir auf beide Rezensionen mit der gleichen Antwort und dann noch auf englisch. Im übertragnene Sinne: " Danke für die Rezension, wir nehmen jedes Feedback ernst (...), allerdungs haben Fachleute diese App konstruiert und wir haben sie viel getestet. Wir sagen nicht, dass diese App alleine hilfreich ist zum Lernen, und das andere Ansätze auch ok sind, aber wir finden unseren halt gut (...)"

Zusammengefasst: Hier wird nicht auf konkrete Punkte eingegangen und argumentiert, sondern die Entwickler sind resistent gegen Kritik und blocken alles mit ihrer Pauschalantwort ab. Und dann noch auf englisch,wessen nicht jeder User eine deutschsprachigen App mächtig ist.

### 1/5 — Hilft kaum, ein aufbaufähiges Zahlverständnis aufzubauen

+ beim Nachschreiben der Zahlen wird zumindest einmal die Menge bildhaft dargestellt (2=2 Äpfel)
- beim Nachschreiben wird der Strich geführt, man KANN es gar nicht falsch machen. Dadurch ist aber auch der Lerneffekt gering
- Elternbereich mit auf englisch
- sprachlich fehlt absolut die Anleitung, dadurch werden Aufgaben nicht klar
- es bleibt beim ausprobieren, es ist nicht nachvollziehbar was man machen soll und was als Nächstes passiert
- die Videos fangen immer mit eins an, es gibt aber auch noch andere Zahlen, zu denen man aber nur mit viel Geduld kommt
- die bildhafte Darstellung der Zahlen dient nur der Dekoration, ist aber für das Zahlverständnis hinderlich, wenn die 3 aus 15 Würstchen gebildet wird
- Zahlen geben nicht nur Mengen an, die geben auch Ränge an (1.,2.,3.,...), das wird komplett ignoriert
- man kann auch Rezepte kochen, was ein großes ausprobieren ist, da hier versucht wird, Kindern rechnen beizubringen. Die VERSPRACHLICHUNG FEHLT!!! Es wird nur gesagt 10-8   2. Ganze Sätze wären hilfreich. Außerdem werden andere Rechnungen aus der Familie ignoriert, was durchaus sinnvoll wäre. Was ist mit 10-2, 8+2? Das braucht es, um das Teil-Ganzes-Verhältnis zwischen den Zahlen zu verstehen.
- das Problem der 0: die 0 ist eine leere Menge, und keine Zahl, die aus Würstchen auf den Teller gelegt wird- da hat man doch schon sehr viel mehr zu essen, als 0
- insgesamt eine ungeeignete App, um Zahlen zu lernen

Schade, dass die eins nur als Strich geschrieben wird, obwohl in der Vorschau und am Kühlschrank die eins aus zwei Linien besteht. Wäre schön, wenn das noch angepasst wird.
