### 3/5 — Help feature is bare bones

*2026-08-12, version 3.66*

Sometimes the play score skips notes. The help feature is bare bones. I wanted to find out how to turn off the editing icon on the side of the document because it interferes with my scroll bar, but the help feature was so minimal that I could not find out if it was possible to do that.

### 4/5 — Pretty good!

*2026-08-11, version 3.66*

I scanned my music sheet and it should me the exact thing as it should. Although I cannot figure out how to load two pages up there, but that’s also probably cause I did not read the instructions. Also, I don’t know if you can, but I wish there was the satin pedal you could like put into it. But overall amazing

### 4/5 — It’s okay overall.

*2026-07-30, version 3.66*

The ability to do many things in the app is amazing, but sometimes the ai doesn’t read the music correctly, has blanks in the audio playing, and the tempo selector/changer is on an odd slide bar instead of letting you manually pick the tempo, which makes it hard to input your desired bpm. If the tempo thing changed, that’d make the app much better.

### 4/5 — laughed

*2026-06-19, version 3.66*

ok to start off, genuinely sorry bout my last review.... it was a skill issue not an app issue.....🤦‍♀️. any way it is pretty great for getting the feel if a sheet. there are a few mess ups in each piece tho but its fine bc you know nothings perfect. to be honest tho i was kinda chuckling so hard last time i used it because it was playing one of my pieces and it was supposed to play an a.... it played the note but shot up like four octaves😂😂😂 i was genuinely dying laughing. but yea its really great!!😊 yet again sorry about my last review 😚😚

### 2/5 — Annoying

*2026-06-18, version 3.66*

Like i get that this app is a good idea but bro it is far too difficult to take a picture and line up the music. even when i line it up as best as i can, the reader skips lines, plays random, does that play at all and just sucks

### 2/5 — Bad playback

*2026-06-01, version 3.66*

It plays all the lines on a page simultaneously, as if it's a score. To hear a single line, you have to manually mute all other lines. Also plays incorrect rhythms if triplets are too close to or within 16th runs.

### 4/5 — Wow Amazing Tool

*2026-05-24, version 3.66*

It works pretty well and it allows me to practice at home!

### 1/5 — Wouldn’t It Be Lovely…..

*2026-05-10, version 3.66*

As a professional musician and always eager to try new technology and apps sadly I found this App to be totally useless. A great idea and one which was tried many years ago by another scanning company but sadly not useable in the real world.

### 2/5 — Needs work on rhythms

*2026-05-09, version 3.66*

I tried using this to read my music and its good on notes but the rhythms need work. Inconsistent tempo and i think its based on what notes line up with a line moving at a constant speed

Also since this doesn’t support imports without subscriptions for whatever reason, BE CAREFUL with uploading images from your computer. If you aren’t careful it will get them COMPLETELY wrong.

### 1/5 — Just trash

*2026-05-06, version 3.66*

Okay so I got it to help me read my music, and it played some random notes that weren’t written. There were 8th notes and it read it as a triplet. Anyways, it did not help me at all, and just wasted my time

**Developer response:** Yes you can change the pitch! For band scores with transposing instruments set ‘Auto-transpose’ in Settings (cogwheel). For single-staff parts use the ‘transpose’ control in ‘Staff settings’ (button bottom left). All explained in the help.

### 1/5 — The evaluation mode is just a photo app - AVOID

*2026-05-02, version 3.66*

I've tried the free version on 20+ different pages of music, and it fails to process all of them.

Cue the response regarding:

• Lighting - Better lighting does not help.
• Notation standards - It doesn't even work on elementary piano music.
• Horizontal vs. vertical photo setup - No effect.

Free versions are for evaluation in consideration of purchasing/subscribing. I've evaluated it. It doesn't work. AT ALL.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Terrible at reading

*2026-08-14, version 3.66*

After taking several clear photos, the app still can’t read the sheet music properly and usually spams random notes and skips lines.

### 1/5 — Not as advertised

*2026-07-30, version 3.66*

Pretty bummed out I paid for a prescription for this trying to isolate alto parts for choir music and all that play is tenor and base even though I’ve selected the correct note orientation.

### 1/5 — Dropping an angry cat on the piano would work better

*2026-07-28, version 3.66*

This is a scam. I was double charged after being told the “Professional” would work because the “Productivity” was so useless. Now I’m being charged subscriptions for both versions simultaneously. Neither of them work. You’d get the same functionality by dropping an angry cat on a piano. It’s especially bad for choral or vocal sheet music, and breaks down completely if you have multiple staves. I’ve submitted a scam report to Apple.

### 1/5 — Ridiculous

*2026-07-21, version 3.66*

It didn’t even give me a chance to trial it before I buy it, how am I supposed to know if it does what I needed to do if I can’t even give me a chance to trial it out first even with restrictions.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2026-07-14, version 3.66*

Buns

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2026-07-13, version 3.66*

Scanner misreads constantly and you have to pay to import a photo.

### 1/5 — Bad

*2026-05-30, version 3.66*

I scanned the paper to stuff and it doesn’t even give the right rhythm or beat. This app sucks.

### 1/5 — Accuracy problems

*2026-05-27, version 3.66*

After scanning the same sheet of music in multiples ways, lights, and backgrounds this system is just not accurate enough yet especially not being able to edit it or see where and what the incorrect notes even are.

### 1/5 — Chaotique et peu performant

*2026-05-17*

La numérisation OCR est de piètre qualité même avec une partition parfaitement scannée ou photographiée. L’ensemble est très décevant et ne mérite en aucun cas un abonnement !

**Developer response:** It sometimes takes a little patience but you will get an accurate scan if you follow the help. Scan at 300DPI and also use 300DPI when converting to PDF. if you have a handwriting style font turn on ‘Jazz fonts’ in settings. Try again. If you would like us to fix it for you send us the Document. Support@organumconsulting.com

**Developer response:** For a notation editor you should not use MIDI. MIDI is not suitable. Use MusicXML. Then your score will look right. Thanks support@organumconsulting.com

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Highly recommended

*2026-08-18, version 3.66*

Great app! Easy to use, and works really well. Highly recommended!

### 5/5 — Nice app

*2026-07-30, version 3.66*

Really helps me with intonation and tone!
It sometimes has problems recognizing notes and rhythms lol. That might just be my photography problem too lol. But it’s a good app!

### 5/5 — Great App for Diatonic Sheet Music

*2026-07-01, version 3.66*

I had difficulty with the app at first, but the PlayScore developer team was quick to lend a hand.

I did have difficulty scanning examples from Persichetti's Twentieth Century Harmony and Piston's Counterpoint, but the difficulty stemmed from: (1) The scans must be completely straight, in focus, and not distorted. My difficulty here was due to these books being hardbound and the pages hard to completely flatten. (2) I didn't know this, but the error correction assumes the music is diatonic. Persichetti's book is not at all about diatonic music. So, the developers suggested turning off error correction if the results were not correct. That worked.

Mentioning these in case others have these issues. All in all, the app does exactly as advertised.

### 5/5 — Yay

*2026-06-24, version 3.66*

Very good

### 5/5 — Best App for playing notes

*2026-06-06*

Awesome app to play notes

**Developer response:** Thank you! Support@organumconsulting.com

### 5/5 — Quick response and Problem solved.

*2026-05-23*

I had a problem with Split Staves. I simply couldn't make any headway with the issue, so I thought I'd just reach out to people via email. I was very pleasantly surprised to receive a very quick response—and that the problem was solved.

**Developer response:** Very pleased to help. Help is always available on support@organumconsulting.com

### 5/5 — very solid!

*2026-05-16, version 3.66*

the app does a wonderful job of reading notes and rhythms, but i play an instrument which isn’t in c, so the music i read never is able to be transposed. the app says it can transpose, but the feature is grayed out and doesnt function, and also isnt listed as a paid feature. besides that one issue, this almost entirely free app is a wonderful program

### 5/5 — Fantastico

*2026-05-10, version 3.66*

Super i love it

### 5/5 — Super helpful with great customer service!

*2026-04-25, version 3.66*

I’m a music teacher and needed an accompaniment part played for my choir. Most played fine but one wasn’t quite right. I sent it to them and they fixed it and sent it back!

### 5/5 — Best optical recognition of music notation I have found

*2026-04-06, version 3.66*

A simple, but robust app that has the best optical character recognition for music notation that I have found, including Sibelius and others. MUSIC is easily scanned, played back, and exported as MUSIC XML.
