I have tried “Snippz”, “Tempo Slow Down”, and this app for slowing down YouTube guitar lessons. The other two have some good features and are even ahead of this one in some ways BUT they seem to have been left hanging by their developers. PlaySections on the other hand is actively being improved and has a super responsive developer (he’s even answered questions I’ve posted to his video on YouTube!) 2. This app works consistently well. When you open it up it scales well to the screen and you can get back to using it in moments. 3. I have high hopes that the developer will continue working on it and implement features such as pitch adjustment for YouTube videos so that when you slow them down you can tweak the pitch to accordingly. Another great feature that “Tempo Slow Down” has that this one doesn’t is a trainer feature that programmatically increases speed of a section so that when you are learning a song, it will challenge you to progressively speed up. Typically, you have to do that manually. Would LOVE to see it in this app and would pay for it. I guess that wraps this review up. Enjoy! ### 4/5 — mimiCopyと一長一短 *2018-11-14* 競合アプリであるmimiCopyと違いは、 ・画面を閉じても再生できる ・DRMも再生できる。制限はあるがこれは大きい！ ・L/Rのフェーダーがない。Lチャンネルだけセンターで再生する等の操作をしたい。 ・再生スピードを落とした時の音質はmimiCopyに軍配 ・微妙なピッチ補正をして、例えば-00.17にしたあとに-ボタンを押したら-01.17となるようにしてほしい。昔の音源ではこれが必須。 ・波形のズーム表示ができない 要望としては、 ・隣り合ったセクションをつなげてループ再生したい。 ・Bluetoothイヤホン再生中にイヤホンの接続を切ると再生停止せずiPhone本体から音が出てしまう。再生停止するか選べるといい。 ・曲を連続して読み込む時に、前回選んだアルバムにすぐ飛べるようにしてほしい。 **Developer response:** Version 3.2.0にて、隣り合った複数のセクションのループ再生に対応しました。Version 4.1.0にてピッチ補正の仕様を変更して、スライダーで半音以内の微調整、+/-ボタンでは微調整値を維持したまま半音単位で+/-できるようにしました。 ### 5/5 — Bug fixed by developer within days *2018-06-19* This app is perfect for practicing with video clips. You can easily make sections that repeat. And playback at slower speeds. There was a bug that made speed changes not work for video. I reported it to the developer who responded back to my email within hours. He fixed the bug and the changes happened only days later after the Apple update process. Great support! **Developer response:** Thanks for your great review! Since version 4.0.0, you can import videos from YouTube. You can change the playback speed of YouTube videos as well. ### 5/5 — Now my favorite app for learning guitar songs from performances *2018-04-13* The developer has really improved this app exponentially. Highly functional and intuitive, with an A-B looper, pitch shifter, playback speed controls and audio effects. Stores multiple sections for Learning songs. You can edit the name of each section for better organization. Lock and unlock the sections with the click of a button. View the video in either full screen or split screen with the audio waveform section. While I haven’t been able to do a search scrub (moving the video manually along with accompanying audio), but that’s not really necessary as the visual audio waveform makes it easy to find where you are. Best app I’ve found for this. Highly recommended, and kudos to the developer. This is a MUST-HAVE app for musicians! **Developer response:** PlaySections 2.9.0 adds "Browse" menu that allows you to import audio and movie files from iCloud Drive, other cloud storage services (Dropbox...), and other apps. Now you don't need to save movie files in your Camera Roll just for importing to PlaySections. The "send-to" and "open-in" menu also support importing movie files. ### 5/5 — VoiceOver環境で使いやすいアプリです。 *2017-03-21* このアプリはVoiceOverに完全対応していて非常に使いやすいです。 耳コピできるアプリは複数ありますがVoiceOverユーザーならこのアプリが一番使いやすいです。 ### 5/5 — Great for learning music from videos *2017-01-25* This is the only app that I could find where I could import a video from my camera roll and then set cue point and loop the video and slow it down so that I can learn by watching and listening to the video. Excellent for practicing and learning what the person in the video is doing. You can go back to the looped cue points to review and refresh your skills. Using tutorial videos that I have downloaded from YouTube I can create a practice library. ### 5/5 — かなり良い！！ *2016-11-10* やりたいことが揃っていた！ 感覚的な操作もしやすいグラフィックの美しさも良い。 ### 5/5 — 素晴らしい *2015-10-31* 耳コピにとても便利です。作者はバンドマンなんですかね。 初期バージョンにも関わらず不具合がなく、欲しいと思った機能が網羅されてます。素晴らしいの一言。 オススメです。 ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — イコライザーが効かない *2026-01-26* イコライザーが効きません　iOS18.6.2 ### 1/5 — 音源の並びがずれる *2019-08-07* ネットから落とした音源zipをEasy zipで解凍してそれを読み込むと、順番がめちゃめちゃになってしまう。 **Developer response:** 複数ファイルをまとめて読み込む際、ファイル名で並べ換えてから読み込むようにしました。iOSの仕様上、選択した順番、表示順では読み込めません。 ### 2/5 — ver4.3.1にアプデするもEQ効かず… *2023-09-06* 数ヶ月前からEQが効きません。本日アップデートしましたがやはりダメでした。 iOS15.7.8を使用しているのですが、対象外なのでしょうか…？ **Developer response:** Version 4.3.1にてEQが効かなくなった問題を修正しました。 レビューありがとうございます。任意のマーカー間でのループ機能の追加に関しては、Version 3.2.0にて対応しました。Version 4.1.0にて、Speed調整の+/-ボタンを使ってより細かく変更できるようにしました。メニューなどに隠れて操作できない場合には、横画面をお試しください。横画面時には、メニューなどは画面右側のみ表示されるようになっています。UIの改善については、引き続き検討します。 ### 2/5 — すごく悲しい *2018-06-23* Apple Musicの曲でも大丈夫だと思ったらセクション分けしかできなくて肝心のボーカルキャンセルはできなかった。 **Developer response:** 説明不足で大変申し訳ございませんでした。Apple MusicなどDRM保護されたファイルはオーディオデータにアクセスが許されていないのでボーカルキャンセル機能が使えません。DRM保護されたオーディオ、またビデオファイルの場合の制限事項をアプリの説明に加えました。 ### 3/5 — IAA doesn’t work *2026-08-25* According to the blog-manual article back in 2018… “By supporting Inter-App Audio and Audiobus, I think you can use it in a variety of ways, such as adding effects and recording with another app, as well as volume adjustment.” This is wanted to do, but while audio files play ok in standalone mode, playback immediately stops and gets stuck when adding PlaySections to AUM / Audiobus / apeMatrix / etc. as an IAA generator. Old and new iOS devices exhibit same result. A shame, as there are a gazillion practice section-loopers on the App Store, but only ONE advertises IAA support, which gives it unique uses outside of the common “practice” use-case, and that’s why I chose this one. Thanks so much for the work you’ve put into it. I’m writing to report a bug ! There’s also a temporary fix for users who are having trouble switching between sections when the “loop one” button is pressed. I’m using a video that I’ve loaded from my local folders , it’s one that I recorded on my phone. I’m also using an iPhone 12 pro. iOS 18.7.1 The bug is related to playback when looping a single section of a video. I’m experiencing a problem where if the ‘loop one button’ is pressed, it will not switch between sections of the song. If I disable the ‘loop one button’ and tell it to play the entire song through, then it will successfully switch sections and then I can reenable the ‘loop one button’ once inside the new section. It would be really nice to fix this bug because it would make it 1 click to switch between sections that loop instead of 4 clicks. It also took me some time to understand the problem and I thought that the app just wasn’t working properly. I took a screen capture video to show you the problem and sent that to the apps Facebook account on messenger. You will notice that even when the “loop one button” is pressed, this song continues to play through the end of that section. Which is unexpected behavior. ### 5/5 — Best of it’s kind *2025-08-28* Have been using this app for years. Beautifully simplistic yet highly functional. Doesn’t seem widely known yet, but it should be. Excellent way to organize video/audio content, partition and label user-defined sections within a video (the outstanding and unique part of this app), loop, slow/speed various content across multiple platforms. Importantly, this works with YouTube and offers much more functionality than the native YouTube app. Would love if future iterations had: 1. Ability to cross sync custom bookmarks between devices (e.g. sync bookmarks between iPhone/iPad). 2. Magnify/zoom in on an image (eg like a fretboard). ### 5/5 — It just works *2024-09-11* I needed an app to loop sections of a song. This does exactly that. I don’t know why apple music doesn’t work, but I am able to use it with youtube with no issues. ### 5/5 — Exactly What I Needed! *2024-09-01* I have tried many other apps for what I thought was a simple need; to easily access, segment and repeat clips of songs (both from my Apple streaming library and YouTube). This app does it perfectly! Feature requests: 1. Ability to pinch ZOOM IN on part of the image (eg a fretboard fingering). 2. iCloud sync so that any time/title edits would synchronize between different iOS devices. Thanks for considering! ### 5/5 — Great app for looping clips from YouTube *2022-12-31* Thrilled I found this app! I’m using it for learning a foreign language. You can import a YouTube video and add marks for looping sections, adjust the playback speed… it’s awesome. Really helpful for learning songs in a foreign language, as well practicing pronunciation and accent using shadowing & mimicking techniques. I tried a few other apps and this is the only one that actually works. Took a minute to understand the controls, but overall no complaints. Definitely recommend it for others who are learning a foreign language! ### 5/5 — Great app! *2022-11-23* Very pleased with this purchase. As for suggestions, it would have been helpful to have help in the app (but if you keep at it you can figure things out).
