Only issue I’ve always had is randomly there will be a bunch of extra plays for songs with an asterisk next to the timestamp. Sometimes there will be a LOT & it’s annoying having to go through & delete them. **Developer response:** Good news! This bug should be fixed in v1.5.6 :) ### 4/5 — Great app *2026-08-03* Great app but it's count only iPhone listen info, if I listen music at Apple TV or MacBook or homepods I don't see listen count in app. Force scan button doesn't do anything. Lately my total play count is not matching up with how many songs I’m actually playing. You could put indicators in the rankings, signaling when an artist, album or song goes down or up positions. It would be interesting. Some improvements could be made - adding a total play count or toggle to switch between time listened and total plays for trending and history would be very appreciated - awards arent interesting they’re very limited and app could do with a better replacement feature (maybe some cool stat visualisation?) ### 4/5 — Anymore updates coming? *2024-09-16* Is this app still getting updates? Syncing has been slow, and album covers for a large portion of my library no longer have artwork. A couple year back when I first started using the app is was the best option in the App Store. I wish the developer would charge a fee to use it so there was more incentive to keep it running bug free and more frequent updates to address issues. With that said, it’s still a top notch app which is why I gave it 4 stars. ### 4/5 — Almost perfect *2024-08-02, version 1.4.9* Makes it so easy to track listening history, over any time period which is nice. Great insights into how you listen. But sometimes it glitches and says you listened to a random song 200 times. Which can mess things up. ### 4/5 — No support for Apple TV streams *2024-05-20* This app is great! Tracks everything just like how I’d want it to but I hate that it doesn’t count streams from my Apple TV despite iCloud sync being enabled. “Force Scan” does not work either. ### 2/5 — Doesn’t work well *2024-05-17* I’ve been using this app for about a year now, and I’m sad to say it doesn’t work very well. It only makes note of maybe half to two thirds of the songs I listen to, especially if they’re songs on repeat. It also continues to ask me pretty regularly about a song that it detected an “unusually high” number of playbacks for—an occurrence from one day last summer. Overall it just isn’t a very reliable way to keep track, sadly. ### 4/5 — Good app *2024-05-16, version 1.4.9* Only complaint is that it doesn’t accurately count the number of songs played, it shows it in the catalog but doesn’t count it, so it’s a little off ### 4/5 — Error *2024-04-12* I uninstalled the app by mistake and when i re installed it all my time listened were gone, there is any way to get it back? ### 5/5 — PLEASEEE BRING BACK THE RANKING DISPLAY OPTION 🙏🙏 *2024-04-07* edit: do you remember on the trending tab there was a button on the right below the calendar that said ‘rank’? it was to the right of the artist, albums, or genres button. and there was an option to make the songs trend by like a mix of play count, time listened, skip count, etc. i just thought it was really cool and unique to rank the songs more diversely but i think it went away in a recent update. i don’t know if you could bring this back or not but it would be really cool if you could i really enjoyed that feature 😭 sorry. other than that this app is amazing i love it!! if you do get around to doing this, thank you so much !!! **Developer response:** This is now in the Settings tab!! ### 3/5 — Inaccurate Play Count *2024-04-07* Great app but the data is inaccurate most of the time. The first time an album is played, the songs aren’t counted. When a song is on repeat, sometimes the app doesn’t count all of the plays. I’ve also run into the app not counting songs in my playlist. I’m not quite sure how to get around these bugs and/or inaccuracies. ### 5/5 — Works perfectly, only have one problem *2024-03-29* PlayTally has been a great app to view my music stats and I’ve loved it every since I got it. The only problem I have with it is that sometimes it will count a song twice (says that it’s been played in the same minute) and it will do this for every stream that happened in a day. Sometimes it doesn’t happen but most of the time it does and I have to manually remove streams to make it more accurate. Would be great if you made it so it would auto-remove a double stream for a song that says it been played two times in the same minute. Besides that, I’ve have had an amazing experience and will continue to use it. Hope this gets fixed ### 5/5 — Same songs and albums plays to be combined *2024-03-18* i am using playtally alot. loving this app but i need my albums to be combined, there are same albums with different editions and those album and songs states are not combined, can you please combine the plays of a same song but from different editions. it’s really confusing and annoying. J'ai écouté un album entier de 41 minutes et seulement 16 minutes et 5 écoutes ont été comptabilisé. Ce n'est pas fiable malheureusement. Et il faut oublier les repeats car si vous écoutez plusieurs fois la même musique, et bien ça ne compte pas toutes les écoutes même en confirmant qu'on les a bien écoutée. Doesn’t summarise anything. I wanted stats on most played artist, song, album in my lifetime since using iTunes/music and this app fails to do that. Wasted my money on this. Don’t buy. ### 1/5 — Very inaccurate *2023-01-12, version 1.2.2* I just recently downloaded this app and it was extremely inaccurate to what songs I listen to the most I’m very disappointed as the main reason I got this was too see how much I played a certain song. I can go into browse and select a song and it shows data there, so it’s getting it from AM. It just refuses to display any history/trending stats. ### 1/5 — Update - no longer working for me *2022-09-25* Update 25 September 2022: This app has been buggy for a few months now - has gone anything up to 5 days without updating on numerous occasions. Force scan isn’t responsive and after a while I discovered that opening one of the two related apps (I had added the bundle) somehow triggered this one into updating. Sadly that’s not worked this time and the app last updated on 15 September. Disappointing and the reason it’s currently rated 1. Please fix this! Initial review: Could be 5* I love the premise of this app, the Trending tab particularly, and it’s very easy to use BUT as a play counter - which surely is the main focus - it’s too inaccurate. I regularly have music playing all day and the app will reflect far fewer hours - 3,4,5 when it should be 8, 10 or 12. The last song I apparently played yesterday was at 17.26, when I know I switched music off to watch a tv programme that started at 8pm. I’ve tried using Force Scan but it doesn’t make any difference. So frustrating. Now that Apple Music mirrors any song playing on another of my devices on my phone lock screen, I’d expect this app to be recognising those given it’s also on my phone. If the play count was accurate, this would be a 5* app without question. **Developer response:** Thanks for the review! I think I have worked out the issue here. The app syncs past playback data in the background before updating the UI. If you have a lot of backlogged data, this can appear to the user as if the app isn’t working at all. I am working on an update now to visualize this process for the user. Stay tuned! A good way to prevent this issue from reoccurring is to ensure PlayTally is run regularly. I’m not sure why they don’t just give us this type of data directly. It’s a great UI. My one complaint is that if I have an artist who does a collab, even though I have it set to “split” compilation artists, it still ranks them separately from their own stuff. Examples: Surrender by Alesso & Becky Hill doesn’t add to the artist spin count for Alesso nor Becky Hill. I’ve been looking and wanting something like this for ages! It’s a simple app that does exactly what you’d expect from the description and it does it well. My one request - and this is a few feature not a complaint - is that I also want a metric for rate of listening. Listens per month or year or something. If I’ve listened to a song 100 times in 6 mo vs 500 times in 5 years; I’d love to differentiate the two. But this app has really become something I check almost daily because it’s so useful and I look to see the data updated.
