However, I noticed that the TestFlight trial version didn’t require security authentication with my iCloud account. I would like to suggest that in a future update you include the option for Google authentication. This way, I could use the app without needing to enable two-factor authentication on my iCloud account, which I prefer to avoid for personal reasons. Only thing I would say which I really don’t like about the app is the very loud noise when saving links. Even though my phone is on silent 24/7, this sound is jarring and I had selected the option which is supposed to only play the sound when the ringer is on, but mine is never on and yet it still sounds. Tried Read It Later apps, bookmarking apps, you name it, I've tried it. Plinky takes the cake! It has room for improvement, definitely, but as it is, it scratches my itch! Kudos to the creator! Thank you for this. ### 5/5 — Crazy fast way to save and organize links *2024-05-15* Part of what stops me from really taking care to manage my bookmarks is the laborious process of going through folders and nesting said folders inside of folders. Plinky completely changes my approach to this by doing two things: making the UX of saving links extremely fast and leveraging both tags and folders. Bonus points that the UI is just so unlike stock iOS which is such a huge plus. Whenever I see a TikTok video that I want to share with a friend, I save it to Plinky. When I come across an article I want to read later, I save it to Plinky. When I see a recipe I want to try, I save it to Plinky. It’s a very bad sign when the only way to quit an app is with Force Quit. **Developer response:** Hi there, I’m so sorry that you’re running into issues using Plinky! That’s definitely not expected, there are thousands of people who are using the app perfectly fine and loving it, so I’d love to help! You can open the app and go to Settings and tap Contact Support, I would truly love to help make Plinky work and work well for you. ### 1/5 — Great app, in app purchase is broken *2024-08-24* In app purchase never works. Just reverts to the screen that asks for money. **Developer response:** Did you happen to get a chance to try the instructions I provided over email support? I would absolutely love to make sure you get a chance to use the product you paid for — I have no intentions (or ability to) make you pay again! ### 1/5 — Unable to save anything *2024-05-15* Unfortunately the app and extension does not work. I tried using it on different websites to save the link and it just won’t do it with Plinky :( **Developer response:** I'm so sorry you ran into this issue, I accidentally shipped a bug that prevented users who were logged out from saving links for about 12 hours. This was a silly mistake and completely my fault, but if this is the problem you encountered you should now be able to save links without any issue. Would you be able to try again to see if now it works for you? If not I would love to help get this fixed for you so you can try Plinky and see if it's an app that can help you with your link-saving needs, you can reach me by emailing support@redpanda.club. ### 2/5 — No Love for Chrome/Windows *2025-07-06* Unfortunately, most people use a world outside of MacOS for various reasons. Even more unfortunately, Plinky devs don’t feel it’s prudent to access/view Plinky links anywhere but in the Apple ecosystem. You can SAVE a link with a Plinky extension for Chrome - but you will not access anything, including what you just saved, from Plinky in Chrome or otherwise on Windows. It’s a very big world outside the Apple ecosystem and the devs just don’t seem to care about supporting that world. **Developer response:** Hi there, just wanted to follow up on the conversation that we had on Bluesky! It's not that I don't want to ship an Windows or Chrome version, it's that I haven't gotten around to it yet as I build other features people have been asking for such as an offline reader mode, a native Mac app, permanent archives, full text search, highlights, the ability to upload your own files and much more! I very much have it in my plans to make a web app that people can access from any device, but unfortunately there isn't a team of developers here — it's just me — one guy! Promise that your request hasn't gone unheard, but there's a lot of work to do to make everyone happy and I'm trying my hardest to do as much as I can as fast as I can. ### 2/5 — Not user friendly at all *2024-10-14, version 3.0.2* I tried tu save a link and it did not ask me which folder I want to save it into. I built and designed Plinky in the last year so the intention is for it to look modern and in-line with iOS usability conventions, it's actually quite common to hear from people that they appreciate the design. It would be great to hear what you would like for me to improve, so please feel free to email joe @ redpanda.club, and I will listen and personally respond to your thoughts and feedback! ### 2/5 — Freezes When Opening *2024-08-20, version 2.1* App never opens, crashes whenever I try to open it. ### 2/5 — Unimpressive and expensive *2024-05-13* It appears to work as advertised, but it doesn’t do anything new. It saves links via Apple share sheets, which you can label and put in folders once you’ve saved them. You can’t set tags and folder from the share sheet, which is faster initially, but you now have a new inbox to keep up with. There are a number of other apps, some one-time purchases, which have better features. There’s no magic either. For example, in Apple Mail you can’t use share sheets for an email, but you can for selected text within an email. Plinky can’t do anything with email. I don’t think it uses iCloud, which would put your links in the hands of a third party if you want to sync it across multiple devices. Finally, there’s the annual subscription cost: in my opinion, it’s high for what the app does. **Developer response:** Hiya, very much can appreciate that Plinky isn't the right app for you, but just in case it helps change your mind in due time I wanted to let you know about some upcoming features and hopefully assuage your concerns about privacy. I am very transparent about how I handle user data, you can view the full privacy policy here: https://plinky.app/privacy-policy In plain English, my personal view is that I'm morally opposed to the existence of the digital ads industry, and I've built Plinky with that in mind. Plinky's privacy policy is the definitive source of truth for who data is shared with, but I'll say directly that your data is never re-sold and is only shared expressly for the purpose of running Plinky the service. All of the services Plinky uses are paid services, as is Plinky, to avoid any user's data being harvested as best I can. The reason Plinky doesn't use iCloud is because of Plinky's integrations with other services, it was much easier to build a server to handle all of the data and work with browser extensions, Zapier, and other apps — it can be reasonably challenging to do that and ensure that data integrity when using Apple's CloudKit framework. As of version 2.0 there are what Plinky calls Save Screen Actions, which allow you to set up what actions you would like to do when saving a link, including setting a Tag or Folder from the share sheet. It's fully configurable, so if you change your mind or want access to other actions like Pin, Edit, Share, Copy, or more, it's available too. I hope knowing that improves your experience saving and organizing links, because I truly want you to do anything you want with Plinky. As for a subscription, I completely understand if that's a dealbreaker. As a solo developer I've set Plinky's price to find a way to sustainably run Plinky as my full time job, and based on the value I believe the app provides users. If you don't get that amount of value out of the price that's completely reasonable! I wouldn't pay for something I didn't get value out of, and have no ill will at you not wishing to do so either. The app is filled with whimsical details, bold chunky type, and fun pops of colour! The multiple ways to save links make it a breeze to save links whenever and wherever you are. Tags help you to categorise and filter your articles to find things on a particular topic. You can also choose from many icons for your tags to personalise them more. I also appreciate the responsiveness of the developer, who is passionate about their users and is making a product they love and need for themselves, with care and attention to detail, with the hope it will be useful to others, too. I like using the app as a digital archive of links I found interesting or may want to check out again later. I appreciate the roadmap and that you can vote on what you want to see! Plus, Joe makes it easy to request a feature by having a dedicated button for it. Joe’s crafted an awesome experience here, and the app is well worth subscribing to! It’s of value to me and a dynamic art piece, showcasing superb app craftmanship that other developers can look up to and be inspired by. ### 5/5 — Crashing Issue fixed immediately *2024-05-22* IOSPad version crashing problem was fixed.
