There’s no way to edit, no way to export to other software, no explanation of how the service works or when/what it will cost, and it’s just an all around bad experience except for the room scanning. It’d be awesome if you could do anything after the scan with it. ### 3/5 — Can’t Log In *2023-03-10, version 3.3.4* Set up an account, set username and password. Can’t log in. Tap reset my password, change my password. Confirmed password changed. Still can’t log in. Log in via the website, password is fine. Try again on the app, can’t log in. Worthless app if you can’t get your authentication working properly. ### 3/5 — Only for professionals , not a home floor plan app. *2021-10-13, version 3.3.2* The whole app is designed for professionals. Requires creating a cloud account with the company . No way to export in the app. Will only make AR plan one room at a time . If you intend to have a whole home floor plan, this will not do it. Beyond all that. It is very good at exactly the work it’s designed for. Can make accurate measure of single rooms. Includes feature for adding door and windows to a room . Can take pictures with each “room plan” and even gives you option to edit the measurements after the fact. I wish there was a way to “stitch” the rooms together to make a whole home plan. I wish the developer would make a consumer version with export to pdf or svg . ### 1/5 — Crashed and they want you to pay $10 for it. *2019-10-09, version 3.3.0* I’m just trying to re do my living room not be an interior designer and if you are one then this shouldn’t be for you either. Use a computer software that won’t crash on you. And one that is a flat fee of like $50-$100. Anscheinend gibt es sowas wie ein Freikontingent, unterm Strich muss man für die Nutzung aber zahlen, was in der Appbeschreibung nicht erwähnt wird ### 1/5 — Great Idea, but It Just doesn’t function *2019-05-03, version 3.2.0* The app worked perfectly the first time I used it, but then it just fell apart: lots of extraneous lines and measurements and couldn’t edit those out of the project. The programming is so bad that the screen becomes unresponsive (no, I don’t have an old iPhone). Even the hyperlinks became unresponsive. The app is a fantastic idea, but it’s not user friendly. I’ve never experienced an app that stopped the touch screen functionality. ### 2/5 — Nice for pros but ... *2019-02-21, version 3.0.2* Earlier versions let me get the measurements I needed for home projects easily. Now these are locked unless I register, pay per project . Sheesh, to much hastle for simple home use. Looking for alternatives now. ### 3/5 — Inaccurate? Or am I using it wrong? *2019-02-04* The usefulness of this app doesn’t need to be discussed, however I often end up with rooms that are more trapezoidal in shape than square. Lines won’t meet up. Now I’m not sure if that’s because I’m walking around the room in order to best reach the angles I need. If so, it would be wise of the developers to mention that you have to stay in place and not walk around lol. ### 2/5 — Just a huge hassle *2018-12-30, version 2.6.6* I purchased the app. Was instructed through the first use of measuring my room. The app is very intuitive and professional I’m sure a lot has gone into its development. But that’s where everything falls short. Once you save your project you’re directed to sign up for a website. I transferred my project to the website created a password and login but the project was not on the cloud website. After 30 minutes of frustrating back-and-forth trying to export the project to the website, as well as trying to figure out how to pay to view the project I gave up and deleted the app. ### 1/5 — Can’t upload / App crashes *2018-12-20, version 2.6.6* I scanned my entire house, which took about a 1/2 hour. Attempts to “finish plan” which uploads the plan to the company’s servers result in the app crashing. Restarted iPhone, tried other measures, but no luck. Bummed. ### 2/5 — I wanted to love this... *2018-12-10, version 2.6.6* I love all things GIS and AR, so this seemed like a REALLY cool concept and I had big expectations for this app. In retrospect, I should have tempered my expectations. You can get fairly consistent relationships between the edges and corners of a room if you set your iPhone into a photography tripod so that the bearing and elevation are the only things that change, but even then, the best you’ll get is “that’s fairly close” and the precision of the measurements is so-so. It’s got some gadget appeal, but IMO it doesn’t outperform a steel measuring tape and a yellow pad, nor would I feel compelled to pay $10 per project to export from the phone to more useful media. The concept is sexy, but a smartphone can’t replace a surveyor and CAD program (yet) ### 2/5 — Don’t forget your tape measure! *2018-12-08, version 2.6.6* This is a “Proof of Concept” app. It provides an iOS device user the experience of things to come. As it stands, it’s more of a toy than any kind of measuring device. A simple self-retracting tape measure far outshines this app and will likely continue to do so for some time. Following the instructions, I carefully calibrated my iPhone and used the app to measure the front door to my single story home, only to learn it was well over 80 feet tall (from the threshold to the door top). It was also more narrow at the top than it was at the bottom: I’m fairly certain there are no doors that would match the measurements provided. I re-calibrated the iPhone and app, and continued measuring other elements in my home. Again, the measurements were inaccurate and arbitrary — certainly nothing similar to a builder’s tool.I think the problems are a result of too many unknown variables, all of which affect accuracy. Another concern is the incredible amount of battery power consumed by the app. One could hardly finish a single room without running out of battery power. To measure the interior of a house would be a fool’s errand, as using a tape measure and a few inexpensive marking tools would take less time, and be far more accurate than an iPhone or iPad constantly in need of a recharge (or cumbersome external batteries). The iOS hardware/software platform and other smartphone platforms do well to accommodate so many diverse and complex apps; this isn’t one of those apps. I would think such a tool would currently require custom hardware and mission-specific software and laser assisted location sensors. The tool itself would connect on an accompanying tripod of known height to eliminate the most obvious unknown variable. Of course, the tool would require require a large battery and an AC option. Try it out for fun, and a glimpse of what future apps and smartphones might be capable of accomplishing. Such a smartphone (or other iDevice) would require more sensors, a much more powerful processor, more RAM (memory) and new battery technology. ### 3/5 — Pretty good *2018-11-01* It’s good but cannot take into account lots of furnitures really, as these ones take up a lot of space and/or visual measurement points, which must be extrapolated in future apps or improvements. ### 1/5 — Just junk *2018-09-22, version 2.5.1* This app was yet another useless attempt at what should be a fairly simple idea: to simply measure a two dimensional space. I kept trying one approach over another, all in an empty, simple square room that was well-lit so I could test it out. It never got a single successful scan. The tools keep moving around, nothing was simple or intuitively laid out. And asking for all that info just to save a single room smells of this being more a data mining app. ### 1/5 — A measuring app that doesn’t measure accurately. *2018-09-02, version 2.4.1* It simply doesn’t work. It doesn’t measure correctly. It couldn’t even get a perfectly rectangular room right. Accuracy seems pretty good but can’t remove initial calibration point and line to nearest wall. Maybe I missed something in instructions. Probably should guide you through first room instead of showing 5 screens before first use. Update: appreciate developer’s response, but on address and account details, you aren’t earning trust. Devs shouldn’t allow users to engage with app in stages and build trust. Everything in it is a bait-and-switch. PLNAR is one of the egregious ones that lets you use it right up until it’s time to see your results; only then does it spring the signup on you. Crash app. *2019-10-30, version 3.3.0* Ridiculous crap app compared to alternatives. Dedicated hours measuring up the house. Every floor. Every door. Literally spent hours mapping out everything. Then guess what, silly app decides to start crashing. Didn’t save anything. All projects and 60 different pics over likely 100 measurements of different sections and features. All gone. Hours wasted. Absolutely trash app. Back up feature terrible. Would not load. So upset. Deleted the app instantly!!! Don’t risk losing all your hard work and time spent measuring. Trust me it hurts.
