The PLY spinning guild is an inclusive, active fiber community centered around spinning more, and more satisfying, yarns. Brought to you by Jacey Boggs Faulkner and PLY Magazine, it's a series of progressive, instructional videos where spinners can learn at their own pace and be guided by some of the best spinners in the community. Whether you're just starting or have been spinning for years; spin on a wheel or a spindle; love wool, silk, and/or plant fibers, there's a place for you in the guild. I started spinning 12 years ago in a small guild but never took actual lessons. I spun a lot but was never consistent in what I produced. The guild closed after a couple years and my wheel sat idle for too long. This online guild has been so informative but also has inspired me to spin again. But they are spinners- not programmers and they didn’t make a good choice of developer here. This app is pretty minimal. Not full access compared to the web browser version- for example forums not available. I’m currently trying to figure why my teaching content video “episodes” are limited to a few from last year- nothing from current offerings. Very frustrating. There’s no useful help section. Also thank you including spindle spinning techniques and how to use this tool in different ways, I feel like spindles are overlooked once we get past the beginner videos, as well as undervalued. From beginnerto advanced, everyone who loves spinning will find this guild helpful. The ap itself has a few minor shortcomings when compared to the website but also has many benefits. The forums and the spin in chat threads aren’t available on the app but this is made up for by the portability and intuitive navigation. The calibre of the teaching is outstanding and the variety of topics is great. Love the accessibility and inclusiveness of the content. A handful of the earliest videos are a little out of frame (cut see what the teachers hands are doing) but this issue is resolved early and the clear close ups of the twisting fibre and wheel are very useful.
