Article on a Care Home had many complaints. I don’t get to see the video & I lose the article completely. Also, you have no search field if I wish to search for a certain article. If you fix these 2 problems I would give a 5 star rating. **Developer response:** Hi, we'd like to apologise for the inconvenience caused. The video issue it's already fixed and it'll be available to users on the next release. Can’t comment anymore and have contacted Plymouth live about this and have heard nothing back... ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Recent update *2026-08-18* Everything except the first two sentences are now behind a paywall. I’ve uninstalled it as the content even before the paywall was not worth paying for due to spelling errors, terrible stories, comments always being turned off and paid promotions of businesses which I don’t want to see. Only kept it for the alerts for when the roads are shut but I can get that elsewhere and have already for free. Best of luck but I think this paper will be gone by end of next year. ### 1/5 — Paying for ‘news! *2026-01-18* If you think I am going to pay£3.99 a month for at best sub standard amateurish repetitive tales then you are sadly delusional. Stories change infrequently and you are obsessed with repeating old stories from years before. Maybe try being a proper news outlet for once. I’ve tried signing in using my email address and password, and I’ve tried the “magic link”, and neither of these things work. It just keeps telling me that my session has expired and to sign in again! A lot of the stories are either recycled from previous submissions or they are clickbait not even about Plymouth. The rest are ok though. They have over the last 2-3 months updated it with a premium option which I don’t have a problem with…what I do have a problem with is the fact that if you don’t pay to use the app, you’re limited to only reading 15 stories within a weekly period which is 2 stories a day if you use it everyday. Not only that, but the latest update to the app now locks certain stories behind the paywall meaning if you want to look at some interesting sounding articles, you’ll probably have to pay now. Used to use the website but that became unreliable, and now this app has done the same. Refuse to pay for the monthly/yearly subscription as I don’t think it is worth it when a lot of the stories don’t even look like that have been proof read, with a lot of grammatical and spelling errors that even a child could pick out. Clicking on the comments icon starts the circling disc to connect but it does not connect. It’s not my WiFi, that is working fine. I check it frequently during the day and get alerts on my phone so I’m aware of all that’s going on. ### 5/5 — Awful *2019-08-14* Some nice changes but in general this is awful, difficult to navigate to different pages other than the four headers on the home screen, for instance if you want sport then unless there is a story in the news there is no link to go to those pages.
