## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 3.6 — 2026-09-01

Pocket BASIC 3.6 brings greater precision, new math functions, and sound improvements.

• New floating-point number handling, providing better decimal precision in programs and LIST output.
• New inverse trigonometric functions: ASN(), ACS(), and ATN().
• New musical note constants from A2 to G7, making it easier to create melodies with the M command.
• Improved stability of the M command and audio engine, especially when audio devices change.
• Improved floating-point handling across expressions and graphics functions.

As always, several smaller improvements and fixes make Pocket BASIC more stable and reliable.

### 3.5 — 2026-07-30

We gave Pocket BASIC a voice. Now we're giving it color!
Version 3.5 introduces the biggest graphics update since Pocket BASIC was released.
New full-color graphics engine for the SD display.
The T command now supports 16 colors and a higher-resolution plotting engine.
Sharper, smoother graphics with a new framebuffer-based renderer.
Greatly improved mathematical graph rendering in both SD and HD modes.
Better handling of fast-changing functions and complex curves.
Various rendering refinements and performance improvements.
Bug fixes and overall stability improvements.
Happy coding!

### 3.2 — 2026-06-14

• Improved M command handling for smoother audio playback and better synchronization with the runtime.
• New context-aware keyboards: Pocket BASIC now automatically selects the most appropriate keyboard layout depending on the expected input type (text, numbers, or fast U! input).
• Enhanced data entry experience for interactive programs and games.
• Internal fixes and optimizations for improved overall stability.

### 3.1 — 2026-05-19

Pocket BASIC 3.1 is here!

We gave Pocket BASIC a voice: the new `M` command lets your programs play tones and simple melodies, bringing retro games and experiments to life.

Also new in this update:

• `U!` single-key input mode for more interactive programs
• Improved swipe handling while editing BASIC input
• More reliable string repetition with expressions such as `CHR$(...) * n`
• General bug fixes and refinements

Thank you for supporting Pocket BASIC and keeping vintage pocket computing alive!
