Start of every episode has an advert now. From one every so often to one every episode. ### 2/5 — Too many adverts was good *2026-08-30, version 3.41.0* This was a good app, the only issue occasional when listening to a few stories at a time it would start at episode 1 rather than where your at, but you just scrolled through. Since the last update it is full of adds, it would be a pain if the adds were at the end of the episode or start of the episode, but no the money grabbing git stick it mid episode ruining the entire experience. Gone from a 4-5 start down to a 1-2 any best. ### 3/5 — No way to contact devs? *2026-08-27, version 3.41.0* I’m going around in circles trying to find an answer to a question! The background music is irritating - is it possible to turn it off? (Listening to First Legendary Beastmaster - got as far as episode 37 before it became an issue! Especially when it’s the same ad over and over and over. It has made me loath last asylum. 7 of 8 ads are that game. Maybe please add more free offers that give more pleeease it’s just too hard ### 3/5 — They ruined it with ads *2026-08-25, version 3.40.1* This was a great app where you could listen to so many chapters per day for free and the stories were great although you can tell the ones written by AI. Most of the voices are pretty good too but sometimes the author changes it and that spoils the flow of the story for me as the narration is slightly different. There are many different types of stories for all your listening desires from romance to sci-fi to mystery stories, some even come with AI generated pictures/movie clips for the beginning chapters to enhance your experience. What I don’t like is the recent addition of advertisements while listening, the other day I had three within 8 mins which is really interrupting the momentum and due to that I am considering deleting the app as they are really annoying. The ads used to be silent pictures but now they are narrated and an absolute nuisance!! It’s not. The layout is too small for me to read. There’s no Search function. Hell the layout doesn’t fill the entire screen of an IPad like it’s supposed to. I’m very glad I didn’t signup with any account. I am sorry for the harsh review. However, since I was looking forward to see what new stories I would find. They would likely double their income if they cut the cost to about 25% of what they charge. You need to review 8 ads per episode. To buy the remaining episodes at 11 coins per episode would cost $ 150 or more which is highway robbery. It’s more cost effective to buy a book than listen to Pocket FM. ### 1/5 — Most expensive app there is *2026-08-25, version 3.40.1* The stories I started watching are great. The AI doesn’t always get it right but it keeps you reeled in. The problem is, after spending $0.99 for the first coin purchase, the value drops to pennies on the dollar. I refuse to pay $100’s of dollars to listen to one audio book when most streaming services range from $10-$20 per month. If this changed to a monthly service for unlimited listening, I think it would be much more successful. Stay away but if you do use dont give them your hard earned cash. ### 1/5 — When you walked in *2026-08-29, version 3.41.0* I was half way through listening to when you walked in and now it’s just disappeared from the app cannot find it anywhere…. Considering som episodes are only a few minutes in length this has destroyed the app completely. Used to be able to build up coins and immerse yourself in a story. Now every 5-10 minutes you’ve a cheesy advert ruining the story ### 1/5 — This app sucks *2026-08-26, version 3.41.0* I have been using this app to try to listen to a series for the last two years and have not been able to complete it because of the ridiculous cost for listening. Their new policy of giving you 1 episode a day is ridiculous at the cost for an episode. I marked it as one that was interesting, but was forced to select 3 in total. I didn’t know the others, but based on the pictures knew which I would hate. Once selecting the required 3, it briefly showed the title of the one I wanted (tease no doubt) then forced a title on me that wasn’t even close to the genre I wanted. It was very intriguing but once I downloaded the app the voices changed and just sounded like someone was just reading a book. Couldn’t finish the story. Would also be preferred to be able to choose which stories you want to listen to without the app adding to my list and muddling things up. ### 1/5 — Complicated! Be careful! I got a pocket FM scam email *2026-08-26, version 3.40.1* I love listening to the stories, but if you go into the Privacy section in order to not have your data shared, you have to write them an email. I did not make a purchase but today I got an email while I was asleep saying that I had made a purchase and asking me to click on the link to start listening to the story it said I had over thirty coins. I checked my Amazon account. I did not make a purchase. I checked the Pocket FM and it showed I did not have a purchase. So basically Pocket FM gave my data to someone they sent me a scam email and if I had clicked on the link thinking that it was from Pocket FM I could’ve had a virus downloaded onto my computer. With almost 300,000 users, why is it not easier to request that your data not be shared? ### 1/5 — Greedy creators *2026-08-26, version 3.40.1* I did wall offers and they refuse to pay out coins. This app is a rip off. Avoid this app. It’s nice at first, then it turns into a greedy money succubus. The stories are good, but way too expensive. $1.99 for 24 coins. 9 coins per episode. Episodes under 9 minutes most less than 9 minutes.Thousands of episodes for 1 story. How about a subscription that is reasonably priced? ### 1/5 — Greedy *2026-08-25, version 3.40.1* DO NOT DOWNLOAD I have been listening to different series since 2022 and since then they have gotten very greedy. They gave you so many free episodes that you hooked onto the series and then after you have to pay nine coins per episode which are used to be like one or two coins per episode. They try to play it off by giving you 30 minutes a day of free listening but then eventually once you get so far into the series, they take it away and say it’s a final finale. I still have 2000 episodes left. How is this the finale zone? So if I wanted to listen to the rest of the series I would have to pay hundreds of dollars to do so.
