## What is Pocket Gospel?

Pocket Gospel is an offline Bible chat for iPhone. Ask the hard questions, get real passages back, and keep the whole conversation on your device.

Type the doubt you would never post. The model runs locally, so nothing you ask is uploaded, logged, or used to train anything. After the one-time setup, the app works in airplane mode — on the subway, on a flight, in the woods.

WHAT IT DOES
• Chat with Scripture. Ask anything in plain language. Every answer cites chapter and verse from the World English Bible.
• Start from a feeling. 64 mood starting points for when you don't have the words yet — burned out, heartbroken, jealous, numb, hopeful, grateful.
• Read the Bible. Full WEB reader with red-letter words of Jesus and read-aloud.
• Guided studies. A six-month path with image, passage, explainer, and discussion questions.
• Words of Jesus. Short essays on what Jesus actually said about the things that are hard to talk about.
• You. Saved chats, bookmarks, notes, and local model status — all on-device.

FOUR PROMISES
1. Always free. No subscriptions, no ads, no in-app purchases, no "pro" tier, nothing locked behind a paywall.
2. Private. Questions don't go to a server, an API, or a training pipeline. The model lives on your iPhone. No analytics on what you type.
3. Offline. After setup the app runs with airplane mode on. The Bible is bundled and your chosen on-device model stays stored locally.
4. Verse-grounded. Answers pull from the World English Bible with the passage attached. Tap any verse to jump into the reader.

Pocket Gospel uses the World English Bible (WEB), a public-domain modern English translation, bundled with the app.

A NOTE FROM THE MAKER
Pocket Gospel is built by one person and is free forever. There is no investor deck, no ad network, no analytics SDK. If it helps you, the best thing you can do is tell one other person who'd find it useful.

Removes the backup model mirror dependency. Model downloads now use HuggingFace directly, so Pocket Gospel can keep running on the simpler free website setup.
