## What is Pocket Pace?

Your running coach. In your pocket. Nowhere else.

Pocket Pace builds a training plan for your next race and adjusts it after every run. The AI coach runs entirely on your iPhone: no cloud, no account, and it works offline. Your runs and heart rate stay yours.

STARTS FROM HOW YOU ACTUALLY RUN
Pocket Pace reads your past year of running from Apple Health and builds your plan from there. After a break, it eases you back in. Distances are whole kilometres you can actually run.

YOUR NUMBERS, NOT FORMULAS
Paces and heart rate zones come from your own measured thresholds: lab test, field test or your own values. No generic age formulas.

ADAPTS AFTER EVERY RUN
Tell the coach how a run felt and the plan adjusts, within safe limits on how fast training load ramps up. Move a run, change it or drop it. The coach shows you exactly what will change before anything does.

PICK YOUR COACH
Choose a coaching philosophy: 80/20 Polarized, Maffetone's MAF method or Jack Daniels' Running Formula. Your plan follows the approach you pick.

A WHOLE SEASON
Add your A, B and C races: a 10K tune-up, a half marathon, then the marathon you're aiming for. Pocket Pace plans the weeks between them.

ASK, AND GET A STRAIGHT ANSWER
"My legs feel heavy." "How is my week going?" Short, clear answers based on your plan and your runs. Anything you want the coach to remember is listed on your profile, and you can delete it any time.

BUILT FOR APPLE WATCH
Today's run on your wrist, one big number, step-by-step guidance with pace and heart rate targets, and quick effort feedback when you finish.

For first 5Ks and fifth marathons alike.

Pocket Pace is not a medical device. If you feel pain or have a health condition, talk to a doctor before you start training.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.3 — 2026-10-28

- Miles: show distances and paces in kilometers or miles, on iPhone, Apple Watch and widgets.
- No race, just run: without a race, your plan keeps your weekly volume in an open season.
- Apple Watch: while running, swipe for distance, pace or heart rate in big numbers. Below Today, every run of the day with its time, pace and heart rate. Today's run done? "Run anyway" starts a free run.
- Strava from your wrist: turn on "Send to Strava" after the run. Your iPhone uploads it as soon as it has the workout.
- Your coach opens with today: the review on the day of your workout, after that today's session and what your last run means for it.
- Questions stay answered, and pace comparisons are in min/km.
- A badge on the app icon tells you your coach's feedback is waiting.
- A run counts on the day you ran it. Move the planned run to make it count.
- Language: pick English or German for Pocket Pace alone, right from Settings.
- Clearer screens, better support for larger text and VoiceOver, and many small fixes.

### 1.2 — 2026-10-25

- A better coach: on iOS 27 you can download a stronger coach model (about 2.3 GB, best over Wi-Fi). It runs entirely on your iPhone, like before. Nothing you say leaves the device. Switch between it and Apple's model any time in Settings.
- Strava: connect your account and share a workout to Strava with one tap. Pocket Pace only asks for permission to upload, and nothing goes to Strava unless you share it.
- Runs cut short: the week view and the watch now show what you actually ran against the plan, e.g. "1.4 / 6 km", instead of marking the full distance as done.
- After a workout, a notification lets you know your coach's feedback is waiting. Open the app to read it.
- The coach understands plan changes in chat better. "Make today's run 6 km" now changes the run instead of being read as feeling tired.
- Smaller fixes and improvements.

### 1.1 — 2026-10-22

Your plan now follows your real training
- Each new week is built from what you actually ran, and says why it looks the way it does.
- Resting heart rate, heart-rate variability and sleep make a week lighter when your body needs it.
- Your fitness is read from the pace and heart rate of your recent runs.
- Climbing counts: trail runs with lots of climbing count as more training.
- Your weekly volume is held steady in four-week cycles; progress comes from harder sessions, not more km.
- With a goal in hours, your usual bike time is counted in.
- Long runs grow toward your race, with race-pace finishes for halves and marathons.
- Choose your long-run day.

Apple Watch
- Outdoor runs now record their route, so the map shows in Fitness and Health.
- On a rest day, "Run anyway" starts a free run.
- Pause and resume with the Action button on Apple Watch Ultra.

Also
- Tell your coach "no run today" and it offers to skip it.
- A tidier "You" page.
