### 3/5 — Good Preparation Tool for the Exam, but out of scope

*2024-06-01*

The questions in the app pull from other study resources available like professor messor. As a result a lot of the questions available tend to be out of scope, thugs givong you an innacurate representation of what you know come exam day. Other than that, the app is great for learning and retaining information, but i wouldn’t solely rely on this for the exam.

### 2/5 — Bummer

*2020-12-17, version 6.7.9*

They restricted the unlimited free access. It already had ads. I’ll be looking elsewhere for study materials.

### 2/5 — A mess

*2020-03-13*

This app is a mess. There’s a high probability of the presence of a bug that keeps reverting the system to a free app state there by erasing all study progress without any option of retrieving paid user data. Very disappointing and frustrating as I will always have to start all over from scratch. The developers need to fix this bug as soon as possible. Until then I give it 2 stars.

**Developer response:** Hi there! Sorry to hear you've had an issue with your progress. We have fixed this issue and will be rolling it out soon.

### 2/5 — For beginners ONLY

*2020-02-08*

This app covers definitions of terms. If you already have some knowledge about the vocabulary for security+, it won’t be much help to you. The questions test your understanding of what the terms mean, but not how to apply them.

The questions provided are all much simpler than ANY of those in the actual exam. It’s partially my fault for buying the premium version before trying out the 30 questions provided, but the misunderstanding could have easily been avoided had the description provided been accurate. The app is presented as if it’s a way to test your readiness for the exam. It is not. I’m not really sure why there’s a money back guarantee if you fail the certification, because this app can not possibly provide you with the knowledge to pass. It’s got a great user interface and works flawlessly compared to similar apps, but the questions need serious work.

In short, DO NOT rely on this app to gauge your knowledge for the certification. Only use it if you’re a total beginner to familiarize yourself with vocabulary. For all others, I recommend Darril Gibson’s GCGA app.

**Developer response:** Hi there! We appreciate your feedback, but we also wanted to mention that we get the opposite feedback from many other users. We offer Pass Guarantee because we are confident that our app helps you pass the exam.

### 2/5 — Useless if not purchasing premium

*2020-01-27, version 6.7.6*

Only gives you 30 questions for free, you have to pay 20$ to get 350 questions.

### 2/5 — Hardly ever works

*2019-09-15, version 6.7.3*

Not sure if anyone else is having this issue but my app always stalls and quits. I try to go in and answer questions but it never wants to work for me. Great resource just never wants to work.

### 3/5 — Navigation is weak.

*2019-04-03, version 6.7*

Needs a few more buttons to move around. Not have buttons that move around. Consistent navigation set would really help this app. The question pool, I’m not overly impressed so far. Need better wording. Additionally the answer explanation could stand to be more detailed.

### 4/5 — Good app on the Go

*2019-03-30*

This app is good to use when on the go, but definitely not something you want to solely rely on. Great for supplementing with other test prep, it has tons of questions and keeps good metrics on progress. I passed on my exam on the 1st attempt using this app, and tons of other resources. Also hey, The money back guarantee is a good assurance, that’s what got me to buy the full version. Good luck !

### 4/5 — Prep

*2019-03-08, version 6.7*

This was was good practice for, really builds your knowledge along with your other study materials.

### 1/5 — Pretty good prep for Sec+

*2019-03-01*

I write questions for the SEC+, CEH, CISSP, CASP, CCFP, CCNA and some others so I know good questions when I see them.

It’s also easy to see that questions are recycled from other exams, which isn’t a bad problem but it distracts from what is actually on the Sec+ exam.

Some of the questions’ answers are incorrect but for the most part, they’re on target.

They’re well-written and we’ll-composes questions with minimal errors in grammar and punctuation.

The questions are simplistic and explanations don’t go into much detail. No big deal there.

The app and web portal interfaces are pleasant and nicely-presented.

Overall, they have a good system of app, web portal, questions and exam setup process so I’m satisfied with my purchase of ultimate version.

**** Update after Exam: Failed the exam by 3 points after repeated study of the 500 Sec+ Questions.

They don’t seem to honor their money back guarantee because they don’t respond to their support email.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not worth the money

*2024-01-25*

I regret purchasing the premium version after having answered all the free questions. Far too often the questions are vague and multiple answers can be correct. Most of the questions on the actual CompTIA exam provide more details and fewer choices that are red herrings. I was really hoping this mobile app would help me pass, but it often left me frustrated.

### 1/5 — Expensive, too easy, not worth it.

*2020-07-25, version 6.7.9*

These questions are not even remotely close to the level of detail you will need for this exam. $19.99/mo for the paid version is also way too expensive. Go elsewhere, like the GCGA app.

### 1/5 — Why does it forget my progress

*2020-06-21, version 6.7.6*

This is a problem. Why doesn’t it sync with the progress I made. I have to start over every time I exit app

### 1/5 — Content not related

*2020-04-15, version 6.7.6*

Completely different content from what’s in all of the other UK study material I’ve read, not useful.

### 1/5 — Don’t buy this app

*2019-12-15, version 6.7.6*

Useless questions not in the exam objects.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2019-11-27, version 6.7.6*

Terribly worded questions. Reference pointers point to pages without information pertaining to the answer.

### 1/5 — Can’t reset my password

*2019-10-28, version 6.7.3*

I paid for the full version. I’ve tried to reset my password multiple times and I have never received an email. I’ve checked my spam and nothing.

### 1/5 — Don’t waste money

*2019-04-06, version 6.7*

Who ever wrote the questions has clearly never taken a comptia exam, I even doubt he knows anything about computers. Terrible short questions that don’t match the exam. A large portion of them are horrendously worded, and at least 10 that I have seen had wrong answers. There is at least 10 questions about fire extinguishers, even a question about cooking oil fires, really? Don’t waste money on this trash.

### 1/5 — Question not updated to 501

*2019-04-03, version 6.7*

Same questions as last year- not a large pool of questions

### 1/5 — Not even close to what’s on the actual exam

*2019-03-29*

I see a lot of positive reviews about this app but unsure if they’re from users who passed or not. I purchased the ultimate edition and must say I’m disappointed. I took and passed the live exam and used this app maybe once a week. My primary sources were Darril Gibson and Professor Messer. I would Highly encourage anyone to read his book and purchase his premium content. Most of the questions on this app aren’t even covered in the Comptia objectives! The live exam will mostly consist of scenario based questions, not factual based as they are in here. I’ll give them this, this app is good for brute force memorization but again, that’s about it.

Lastly, I found that most of the questions and answers were completely irrelevant and not covered In the objectives. It’s more of a nice to know but not necessary. Please don’t waste your money on this! Save yourself some gas money and use the free edition which is useless as well.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Very Helpful

*2026-03-16, version 13.24.9*

I used pocket prep almost everyday to prepare for the security+ exam. I feel that overall this app was helpful but I would also recommend using other tools such as videos from professor Messer on YouTube, the All-in-One series book from Conklin & White, and Comptia’s simulations. These all helped especially the simulations for the performance based questions.

### 5/5 — Best Study App Ever

*2020-10-28*

I was able to pass Sec+ by studying 24/7. No matter where I went I had practice questions with me and it was worth paying extra for the enormous question bank they have. Thank you for these! Side note: would really appreciate a CompTIA CySA+ study guide PLEASE!

### 5/5 — Use this as a stepping stone, not as your official readiness metrics

*2020-04-06*

I’ve been using this app for previous certifications. It has been working great for me. Great app to help you solidify test objectives definition before moving on to exam-like practices offered by Dion on Udemy. These help but the exam is much harder than the questions on pocket prep.

### 5/5 — Excellent.

*2020-02-09, version 6.7.6*

Wish that it fed me more free questions, I can now definitely answer all the questions it has thrown at me.

### 5/5 — Great practice!

*2019-12-18, version 6.7.6*

With SIMS it would make it ultimate!!

### 5/5 — Exams

*2019-11-03, version 6.7.6*

I like the different questions and types awesome app!

### 5/5 — Passed Security +

*2019-09-13, version 6.7.3*

This App is wonderful! I really really got a better understanding from using this app daily! I always tell people to always use 3 sources of studying

1. A Security + Book
2. An interactive Practice test app (THIS APP)
3. Videos (Cybrary is what I used)

Also create some good old fashion study cards

But definitely utilize this app to study!

It helped me pass!

### 5/5 — Great tool

*2019-08-12, version 6.7.3*

I purchased the full version 24 days from my test and passed. I highly recommend this app!!

### 5/5 — Pocket Prep

*2019-05-03, version 6.7*

This app is amazing. You can study at anytime on your mobile device. I’ve learned so much and I finally feel prepared to to take my exams!

### 5/5 — Passed!

*2019-03-11*

After my first failed attempt, I decided to purchase PocketPrep Security+ to help go over areas I was weak in. After consistently scoring in the mid 80s, I went for my test and passed on my second attempt! To anyone who is studying for the Security+, this will help you in areas you are weak in. I highly recommend reading a book and taking as many pretests as you can.
