*2026-04-15, version 13.25.0*

I tried several different study methods and this was by far the best.

### 5/5 — Great tool, I passed my exam

*2026-03-15, version 13.24.8*

After 3 weeks I was able to pass my exam.

### 5/5 — I passed

*2026-03-12, version 13.24.9*

I passed only using this app

### 2/5 — No, thanks!

*2026-02-10, version 13.24.7*

Passed using different study tools. This prep caused more confusion for me, making me feel less competent and less prepared, as the justification for answers were inconsistent. No, thanks!

### 5/5 — Great review tool!

*2026-01-11, version 13.24.5*

I just passed and highly recommend this review tool!☺️

### 5/5 — So helpful!!

*2025-12-07, version 13.24.4*

I am so grateful for this app! I have used this to pass both my masters and clinical exams! It really helped to build my confidence and to see the explanations for every question!

### 5/5 — Passed LCSW Exam First Try

*2025-11-08, version 13.24.1*

Passed my clinical license exam today. First try! I used the Level Up quiz format so I could build my confidence as each level got more challenging. I used every question as a study tool, so if I couldn’t explain why the other answers weren’t correct, I’d flag it and read the rationale provided to better understand. Since this test is less about content recall and more vignettes, learning to understand how to read the questions to answer correctly is KEY. I primarily used PP for the bulk of my studying (and used their Mock Exam to practice) and watched a few YouTube videos to reinforce ethics and how to break down exam questions (Dr. Pam Turner is great!). I had used PP to study for my MSW exam too, so I trust PP to study these two areas. Also recommend paying the $85 for the ASWB practice exam. It’ll give you some confidence going into the real test. You can do this!!!!

My only recommendation for improvement on this app is that PP fully update some questions to the DSM-5TR version. There weren’t a lot of DSM-5 references, but there are differences between the two versions. And there should be a way to report an error in a question like a typo to PP.

### 5/5 — Passed on 1st try!!

*2025-10-01, version 13.23.5*

Easy to use and adapt to focus on weak areas. Highly recommend!

### 4/5 — Perfect

*2025-09-23, version 13.23.4*

Exactly what I needed.

### 5/5 — LCSW

*2025-09-18, version 13.23.4*

Very helpful, lots of good quizzes and mock exams.

### 5/5 — Best prep app

*2025-09-12, version 13.23.2*

Every helpful app & I passed my LCSW exam in first attempt

### 5/5 — ASWB CLINICAL

*2025-06-17, version 13.22.0*

Very helpful, passed my exam! Thank you

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2025-06-10, version 13.22.0*

I passed! On my first try! I only used this app. The questions align with the style of questions on the test so I was definitely comfortable in reading the questions during the actually exam. I will say, I think what helped me most are that these questions were a little tougher than what was on the test! I also studied over the course of 3 weeks 1x per day for an accumulative of about 10 hours. But I definitely tried to do at least the question of the day everyday! Totally worth it! I also used the paid version. Obviously worth the investment for me, though definitely felt it was inexpensive!

### 3/5 — Technical issues, otherwise great for studying on the go

*2025-05-17, version 13.21.1*

Update: I’m having issues connecting to the server and at times it is not loading or storing my progress when quizzes do load
I love this app! It’s so helpful for studying on the go anytime and even has full mock exams for longer study sessions.

### 3/5 — Great add on

*2025-04-18, version 13.21.1*

I recently passed my clinical exam and used pocket prep. I find that it is the PERFECT add on to using another program. It will help you with total recall questions and is a great way to study on the go!

### 5/5 — Super helpful!

*2025-04-17, version 13.21.1*

I would like to specifically attribute my passing the LCSW exam to Pocket Prep! 10/10 recommend!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Test memory

*2026-06-08, version 13.27.0*

This app tests memory, not how ASWB LCSW test really is.
Lacks real world simulation.
I worked with it for over a year before I took the practice test provided by ASWB. This program does NOT prep you for the real test and focuses on memory.

### 1/5 — What happened?

*2026-01-18, version 13.24.6*

Not really sure what happened to the quality of this app…have used it before and it seemed more geared to the LCSW material…not so much now…still referring to the DSM-5 amd that means outdated info! Hey developers pull it together…we have had the DSM 5 TR for awhile now
Dont waste time or miney on this app! Way better tools out there to study with!

### 1/5 — Trouble Connecting to Server

*2025-05-04, version 13.21.1*

I love this app! It’s so helpful for studying on the go anytime and even has full mock exams for longer study sessions. Lately I’ve been receiving a network error message on the iPad version and have been unable to log into my account. After troubleshooting and finding no connection issues, I’m wondering if this is a bug/system error. The iPhone version of the app is connecting to the network and my account without any problems.

### 1/5 — Unable to launch app

*2024-08-04, version 13.14.2*

Please help. I’m unable to launch app.

### 1/5 — What did I pay for?

*2024-05-01*

I feel many questions and answers are poorly written and do not reflect actual material on the exam. For example:

Which of the following therapeutic approaches focuses on the elimination of maladaptive behavior by associating the behavior to an aversion stimulus?
Solution-focused
Cognitive-behavioral
Aversion
Action

Correct answer: Aversion…. It literally says it in the question

Practitioners use a variety of assessment methods to assess children. Which of the following is an example of a behavioral observation assessment?
Behavioral Assertiveness Test for Children
Playground Observation of Behavior
Child Behavior Checklist
Walker Problem Behavior Identification

Correct answer: Playground Observation of Behavior… once again, IN THE QUESTION

You run a group for recently divorced individuals. During the first meeting, the members introduce themselves to everyone else and then turn to you for directions. The MOST appropriate response from you is to:
Suggest that everyone say something about why they are attending the group
Say, "It seems like you are waiting for me."
Say nothing and wait for someone in the group to break the silence
Ask, "So, what do you think we should talk about today?"

I don’t even need to put the correct answer for this, it’s a very poor question with very poor options. The ASWB would never have questions like this. I want my money back lol

**Developer response:** Hi there! We've taken a look at the three questions you are referring to and have updated them. If you would like us to share these updates with you directly or if you have any more to report, could you please send an email to support@pocketprep.com? Thanks so much!

### 1/5 — Y Theory Question

*2023-09-18, version 13.9.1*

McGregor is mentioned as an answer to the Y theory... When you get a question wrong, it takes you to the page in which the answer is mentioned so one can study and understand deeper the question and the answer. There is no mention of McGregor or the Y theory on the pages 274 to 275. When I go to the index, there is no mention of McGregor or Y theory. i'm trying to pass this test and your information is incorrect. Please update.

### 1/5 — Useless download

*2022-01-11, version 6.7.9*

I downloaded this only to open it and get a message this app is no longer supported and to download Behavioral Health pocket guide.

### 1/5 — Do not use

*2020-02-26, version 6.7.6*

Do not use this app to prepare!! The questions were unrelated and different than the ones on the test. The ASWB practice exam (which you can purchase on the ASWB website) is a better way to gauge your preparedness.

### 1/5 — MISLEADING. Better off buying the review book...

*2017-11-02, version 6.3.2*

Not the 2017 exam version! I’ve got less than three weeks until my exam and I just saw in settings that the questions are based off the 2018 exam blueprint. This is not helpful to me. It says 2017 in the title, very misleading. Be warned! Total waste of money! I even received an email asking me to change my review from the CEO and he was very rude! They just want your $. In other news, it just asks the same questions over and over again, the same material, and the questions are wordy and different from the actual exam. Pass on this and just buy the review book by Dawn Apgar. Way more help!

### 2/5 — Not All It’s Cracked Up To Be

*2026-02-28, version 13.24.8*

This app is decent; it definitely has a wide and deep array of questions. I passed the exam on the first try but I don’t attribute my success to Pocket Prep alone. Utilizing the AWSB practice exam and using AI to generate ASWB style exam questions was far more helpful. The questions in Pocket Prep are more based on recall than applying clinical judgement and clinical decision-making. I would not recommend this app as the only tool one should use to study for the licensing exam. It’s decent but if the developers of the app were to reach out and offer me a refund or even a partial refund I would not refuse it.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Passed the test!

*2026-08-19, version 13.28.1*

I studied with Pocket prep! It prepared me well!

### 5/5 — Great study app

*2026-08-05, version 13.28.1*

The explanations are provided to inform what makes an answer right or incorrect with accurate citation. I used a different app for the same exam for several months and didn’t pass. The editors of the app were not receptive to questions. I haven’t had any issues with this study app.

### 5/5 — Amazing!

*2026-07-28, version 13.28.0*

I used this app to study (I got the premium version) and I don’t know that I would have passed without it. So many of the questions in the app resemble what’s on the exam, and I wouldn’t have been anywhere near as prepared otherwise. This is the only tool I used to study, and I passed it on my first try!

### 5/5 — So Helpful

*2026-07-18, version 13.28.0*

Passed on my first try. i paid for the subscription because it comes with an Ai tutor that really helps you engage and understand the material

### 5/5 — Best

*2026-06-22, version 13.27.2*

Idk review

### 5/5 — Passed!

*2026-06-17, version 13.27.2*

I used this app for my LMSW and my LCSW exams. I passed both exams the first time. Excellent for consistent questions with rationales available whether you get the answer right or wrong. You can always go back and get it right the next try! I answered over 1100 questions before my LCSW and also reviewed content areas with TDC.

### 5/5 — Passed my exam!

*2026-05-29, version 13.26.0*

This app helped me pass my exam on the first try. I highly recommend!

### 5/5 — Great study tool!!

*2026-05-28, version 13.26.0*

I relied heavily on this app for my LCSW exam and I passed on the first try! I did the daily question, plus 10 quick questions and built my own quiz (approx 30 questions per day). I was able to answer all 2000 questions in less than three months. Very helpful and questions were similar in style to the actual exam questions.

### 5/5 — I passed LCSW exam

*2026-05-11, version 13.26.0*

This is an amazing and helpful app. It was also user friendly. Studying with his app helps me to achieve success on my exams. It has scenario
based questions that are exam style and recall questions that helped significantly. There are also rationales included that were super helpful with helping me to understand the questions. Thanks Pocket Prep!

### 5/5 — Best app with most realistic exam questions

*2026-04-23, version 13.26.0*

The questions on this app were written very similarly to the exam questions. I had originally used a different app to study but THANKFULLY downloaded this the day before and it helped me so much. I passed!
