### 2/5 — Started great now subscription.

*2026-06-11, version 50.3*

Paid for a premium app used every day. Now I haven’t used it in years. Dip in to check one law and can’t see or use a thing without subscribing.
I’m sure that’s fine if you use it a lot but after paying a one off price it’s infuriating in my use case.

### 2/5 — Unreliable, switched to a better alternative

*2025-09-14, version 49.2*

I tried Pocket Sergeant on my iPhone, but it frequently failed to load and didn’t remember my subscription. Because of this, I couldn’t access the features I needed. I’ve decided to cancel and use a more reliable tool that better meets my needs. Truthfully i now use AI. Plus with onenote, I have most of my templates and case file checklists at hand.

I will still support the podcast though

### 1/5 — Shame

*2025-05-10, version 48.0*

Now the paywall is even bigger and the pushyness for cash is too

### 1/5 — Subscription should not be reminded each time you log in

*2025-05-02, version 48.0*

Decent app but each time you open it, it continually asks for a subscription. If users want to subscription for 99p then they will. Being bombarded constantly isn't the way to "sell" an app. You can argue about updated legislation etc etc and keeping app updated however that shouldn't mean I have to keep seeing a reminder to subscribe. I've already paid £4 for it. Either make it a subscription app or a direct one-time payment app

New update :
I have deleted the app due to not being able to access any content due subscription. Total waste at this time

### 1/5 — Unusable

*2025-05-02, version 48.0*

Thank you for making this app literally unusable without a subscription… I had it for about 6 years and with every update you have put more and more restrictions on it to force the users to get the subscription. Well this became pretty annoying so I decided to delete it and move to the competition, Duty Pro, which does a very good job and I’m happy with.

### 4/5 — Sad it’s behind a paywall, but I get it.

*2025-04-24, version 47.0*

I bought Pocket Sergeant about five years ago now I think. I used it almost daily when I was working on response. The only reason I haven’t given it five stars is because the content is behind a paywall. I understand why they had to move in that direction, but I’m sad about it nonetheless. I do think the subscription will be worth it for anyone who is looking up legislation frequently though.

### 1/5 — RIP off

*2025-02-01, version 44.2*

I pad for this app to check legislation. Then when I came to search and select it I was told I had to ‘upgrade’ to a monthly fee (on top of the initial purchase price) to access. Absolute con.

### 3/5 — Missing legislation?

*2024-12-26, version 44.2*

Whilst I do find this app useful day to day, it’s quite handy when you know there’s an offence but can’t quite put your finger on the exact legislation.

However, as I am paying the sub for up to date legislation and they’ve increased it recently which i can handle, why is the legislation not updated?

Example. The Pet abduction act came into play in August 2024, 5 months on and it still isn’t showing in the app. Just on this example alone, I’d consider this quite important legislation given what offences occur at the moment around the abduction of pets.

I would appreciate if the developer could explain why the latest legislation is not being added (even 5 months on), it starts to make me question whether or not existing legislation on the app is actually up to date?

I am currently looking at reasonable alternatives to this app due to the above issue with updates, as opposed to the price increase, although a price increase shouldn’t not come with lack of updated legislation.

### 1/5 — Price Increase . I’m Off

*2024-09-02, version 44.0*

Appreciate App’s and everything else is rising but to raise the price to a 100% increase per month, in my opinion, is excessive. I personally, don’t feel the app add’s the value that justifies such an increase. Like many others, who were discussing this at work today, we will cancelling our subscriptions. Really disappointing and really disappointed with the decision made by the developers, with ZERO explanation provided to loyal subscribers.

### 1/5 — Priced doubled - it’s time to leave

*2024-08-25, version 44.0*

Great app but a 100% price increase is excessive. An example of when greed takes over. I think the developers may of forgot this app would only interest about 170k people in the UK but only 10% of that number are actually users. Nice little earner.

### 3/5 — An essential for all British police officers.

*2024-08-24, version 44.0*

By far the best and most useful app for police officers with a very reasonable subscription fee (although the job should be paying). Simply a necessity.

Edit - price doubled? Two stars knocked off and some serious consideration required as to whether I’ll keep my subscription.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Worthless unless you pay monthly

*2026-06-13, version 50.3*

As above. Would be happy to pay outright for this but as usual and like most other apps it’s gone down the route of a subscription.

### 1/5 — Greedy

*2026-05-25, version 50.3*

Have to pay to even view anything. What’s the point of even having a standard mode. Just have the pro. Very greedy

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2026-05-13, version 50.3*

Had to cancel as app stopped recognising that I had a subscription - great app when it worked

### 1/5 — Subscription fees

*2026-04-22, version 50.2*

Pay for the app and then expected to pay £1.99 a month to access anything on the app…

### 1/5 — RIP off

*2026-04-20, version 50.2*

I pad for this app to check legislation. Then when I came to search and select it I was told I had to ‘upgrade’ to a monthly fee (on top of the initial purchase price) to access. Absolute con.

### 1/5 — Used to be great

*2025-11-10, version 49.5*

Won’t run on the new iPhone so paying a subscription for nothing!

### 1/5 — Disappointing App

*2025-11-02, version 49.5*

I bought this app when it was an upfront fee which was reasonable. The app has now paywalled 99% of the content behind a subscription fee making it a pretty useless app if you don’t want to fork out extra money now that you’ve already paid up front.

### 1/5 — Ruined by cash walls

*2025-09-09, version 49.2*

Everything useful is now hidden behind paywall subscriptions. Makes this app practically useless for quick reference now. Shame as I now don’t see the point of keeping it after I paid for it.

### 1/5 — added subscriptions to access anything

*2025-08-29, version 49.2*

£2 a month

### 1/5 — Paywall

*2025-06-14, version 49.0*

I used to use this app every day and I’d paid for it and the content inside the app. Now they have added subscription and hidden half the offenses behind a paywall that were previously viewable for my original price paid. Feel robbed.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Absolutely amazing

*2025-04-25, version 47.0*

Worth its weight in gold, I can assure everyone that on the job this will help you in several ways possible

### 5/5 — Fantastic Application

*2025-04-24, version 47.0*

I have used this app for a number of years and found it extremely useful. There is no other app that comes even close. Worth every penny. Keep up the wonderful work guys.

### 5/5 — Amazing !

*2025-04-24, version 47.0*

A fantastic tool which has helped me hugely. A tool so vital, I have seen it upgraded over the years and now the content and fluidity is far better. Worth the subscription,

### 5/5 — Invaluable resource

*2025-04-24, version 47.0*

I have used this for years as a PC and a Sgt. It’s a quick guide when in custody to get the correct offence codes and a simple way to find offence wordings. The small monthly fee is well worth it to save fighting with PNLD.

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2025-04-24, version 47.0*

Best app out there, use it daily at work! Keep up the good work

### 5/5 — Great app

*2025-04-24, version 47.0*

As a special I find this tool so useful in keeping myself up to date, it’s harder for me as I don’t do it every day so I struggle with skillfade. This app really helps me combat that and I almost use it as a revision tool at home. Well worth the sub price in my opinion.

### 5/5 — Bargain at half the price

*2025-04-24, version 47.0*

Pocket sergeant is a must have tool for any police officer, as useful as their handcuffs and probably more frequently used. The initial purchase price is soon to be replaced with an entirely subscription service, and still less than a cup of coffee. Massively useful and convenient thing to have in your pocket. As a sergeant myself, I recommend every student officer download it week 1 and every other officer consider it, no matter how good you believe your law knowledge is.

### 5/5 — Worth the Money

*2025-04-24, version 47.0*

Very useful, I’ve used it for years. Handy to have on a pocket device like phone etc. if you are out on the beat it’s worth every penny.

### 5/5 — MG 11

*2025-02-25, version 45.0*

Love Pocket Sgt and your new missing from home app. Have you thought about creating a statement app. One whereby basic pre populated phrases can be input into an MG11 and the end result can be signed and exported as a PDF

### 5/5 — Class

*2024-06-01, version 42.0*

Use it everyday , awesome app for the money
