I’ve been trying to use my phone less and saving web pages to my kobo to read without being on my phone is super useful. It always had some problems, but lately it’s become unusable: there’s no widget for chrome, articles sometimes don’t load, and if your connection is spotty you’ll find yourself jumping from place to place within the article. But lately it seems to freeze up after i’ve only gotten to open 2-3 of the links saved on there. Please fix this!! Seriously frustrating since you can’t even select multiples to delete, and you have to do each one one by one. Seriously? Trash. ### 3/5 — this app used to be great. not anymore. *2025-02-25* i used to love pocket a lot - it replaced instapaper for me and i would rave about it. recently, probably in the last 6 months, this app has gone downhill. it’s super buggy, slow, and honestly is no longer a joy to use. if i am reading an article and go to another window, when i go back to my pocket window, it shouldn’t take an extended period of time to re open the article, and it most certainly shouldn’t take me back to my list of saved articles and not save my spot in the article. so many of my saves don’t save the titles of articles anymore, they save a freaking URL. clicking on a save button in the recommended articles even within the app homepage sometimes takes 10-20 seconds, which doesn’t sound that crazy but it used to be instantaneous. PLEASE make this app better or at least as good as it used to be because i really don’t enjoy using it anymore. i want to still love this app but i’m starting to not. **Developer response:** We’re sorry to hear you’re having trouble! But.. no option to share pockets with others? I see this used to be possible - why is this no longer a feature? Would be great to have shared pockets with my husband and mom so we can read articles together through sharing them ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work *2025-02-20, version 8.26.0* Why is pocket so bad now?? I used to use it to download articles to read when I don’t have internet connection. Now when I save them, they don’t download. When I try open them, pocket just tries to open the browser page which obviously doesn’t work without connection. Many of my saved articles are recipes I want to make but I can’t. Restarting my iPhone 11 does not fix this issue. I’m running ios 17.7.2 because many of the “features” in ios 18 are not what I want and are memory hogs. ### 1/5 — What has happened? *2025-02-19, version 8.26.0* I haven’t used this app for quite some time but I just got a new iPad and wanted to reinstall it. It used to be brilliant doing just want I wanted: save webpages for reading later but now is full of recommended reads. I just want to see articles I’ve saved. That was the whole point of it. Can I turn off the recommended reads? I couldn’t see any way of doing it. ### 3/5 — Almost a good app *2025-02-17, version 8.26.0* This app steps on its own toes with the way it recommends articles to you and how you find them. Why bother with having topics if you don’t let the user explore them? After you pick your initial topics that’s it, you can’t see the other topics anymore. Like yea I don’t want to be constantly recommended political articles but sometimes I do want to read politics and I’d like to see the politics topic. The web app lets you do it, why not the mobile app? Also why can’t I adjust my topics? A persons interest change over time. ### 3/5 — Articles won’t open *2025-02-13, version 8.26.0* I love the mix of interesting articles this app provides. However, currently it seems to have a fundamental of flaw of being unresponsive and quite often articles simply don’t open. ### 3/5 — Fails at paywalls *2025-02-12, version 8.26.0* Unlike other similar apps, Pocket does not support saving paywalled articles (for which I have a subscription). It does work well enough for publicly available articles, though. ### 3/5 — Freezes and crashes *2025-02-11, version 8.26.0* App frequently freezes and crashes, making it unusable, even when I try multiple times over hours or days. Edit: Years later, they finally fixed the freezing and crashing issues. Rating changed from 2 stars to 3 stars. ### 1/5 — Used to be among my most used apps, now strewn with faults and errors and basically unusable *2025-02-09, version 8.26.0* I used to regularly come in this apps top 1% of users — they emailed me four years in a row to let me know. This app was simple and great for saving links to read offline: something I use a surprising amount. Even when I had access to the internet, this app had a great reader. I don’t know how this app has been so ruined. There are honestly too many errors to count. The app frequently force quite as I scroll down the page, or otherwise just formats pages horribly — somehow messing up indented paragraphs and merging paragraphs together, really basic stuff. I use this app now just to save links to open later in safari. The saves tab also wants me to sign in when I already am. Sometimes tapping on an article opens a web wrapper to getpocket.com to read it instead of using the app. ### 1/5 — Login issues galore oh my *2025-04-12, version 8.26.0* Got a new iPad - tried installing the app (several times now). Stuck in an endless loop of being asked to login, going through the verification process (successfully), only to be asked to login again and again and again endlessly. Was able to log in to the website and mobile app no problem. Fix? ### 1/5 — No Longer Works *2025-04-06, version 8.26.0* Since the new update the app no longer workers. You cannot save an article to it anymore. Every time I try it tells me to log in when I am already logged in. I’ve been using it ever since it was first available. Over that time I’ve saved tens of thousands of news articles because I was keeping a visual and literal history of certain types of news, but… All those years on my pocket history have disappeared? I’ve tried sorting it by oldest articles first, but all I get is something from one year ago. There should be tens of thousands of saved clicks but all I can ever see is one years history. I still love this app. So I’m still giving you five stars. You can also sign up for a curated list of weekly reads (based on your interests I think) that are really excellent. If you like to save articles to read later on your phone and on your computer in one convenient cloud location, this is a great choice.
