It would be nice if the photo strips could have a little more customization, but it is fine for my needs. I’ve used it for several events without issues. I don’t print the images or have the individual images sent by email or anything. I usually just upload all the images to my google photos and then make an album I can share with all the friends and family I had at my event. However, last time I set up the app to use at an event, I had a major issue. All of the pictures were being inserted into the photo strip upside down. I tried putting my iPad in different camera orientations, restarted the app, restarted the device, tried to hunt around in settings for the ipad and for the app, but couldn’t find a way to fix the issue. I ended up just having to remove captions and to choose a layout with equal borders on all sides, so that the entire photo strip would look fine once manually rotated in my photo gallery. It was a solution that worked, but since the event was a family reunion, it wasn’t really happy that I had to remove captions from the photo strip so things looked like the proper orientation. I have used this app for several events and have never had an issue with photos being inserted incorrectly, however this was my first time using my new, so maybe the camera position is causing issues? I don’t know. I hope I can continue to use this app. ### 3/5 — Was great *2022-12-03, version 3.7.1* For some reason this has started to default to A4 when auto printing. Did work fantastic but now I had to manually print the pics to ensure they print on 6x4 ### 3/5 — It’s ok but good be improved *2020-06-16, version 3.6.3* I would like the ability of uploading your own image to use as background for photos. And the ability to have print button link to a Bluetooth printer like sprocket. Wish I can add external camera *2018-10-15, version 3.3* I have this app an it’s great for small gatherings but wish I can use my dslr or even my simple point an shoot camera instead of the iPad’s built in camera. Everyone loved taking a group of pictures and getting to pose differently. Would love it if there could be a larger variety of booth skins. What about skins with a Holiday theme. We’re having a Halloween Party, but there isn’t really a skin that has a Halloween Theme. I've changed the picture size a couple times on the settings but my prints are still printing way to large on my 4x6 paper. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I highly doubt it ### 4/5 — Good app but not worth the amount. *2017-09-24, version 3.0* I own a photo booth company, but for family parties I don't want to bring out everything so I bought this app. The basic Pocketbooth app was a lot of fun to use...I used it for 3 family parties before deciding to invest in the pocketbooth party app. As I started to use the pocketbooth party app, I realized that what you get for the cost was off. Things I like: - You have a couple more template options. - You can add text. - They have some pretty good font options. - You can change the screen where you take pics. Things I wish it had that would make it worth $40: - Photo booth templates people would actually like...one big pic on top of 2 smaller pics with a section to put text. - Ability to have multiple lines of text...not just one line. - Ability to put shadow on the font. - for advanced users, being able to put a custom background (outside of the stock options the app has) for the picture strip. Or even a green screen removal feature. This one would probably cost more money, but I would buy it. All in all, pocketbooth party is a good app....I use it! But if you are looking for a basic photo booth solution, stick with the basic pocketbooth app for a couple dollars. We realize the cost is more than most people are used to spending on an app, and for those people, we would point them toward our incredibly affordable 99-cent app, Pocketbooth. Our target customer for this app is someone who wants a photobooth for their party or event, but don't have the budget to rent a booth to the tune of hundreds of dollars. So instead of being expensive in comparison to a 99-cent app, we like to think of Pocketbooth Party as the deal of the century when compared to renting a photobooth. We have a second customer in mind, which is where I think you fall: the professional boother. In other words, someone who uses the app in service of their event photography business. We have many customers who are already using the app in this way, but we realize there are many more features that these customers want (you name a few of them). All I can say is we have not forgotten about you, but chose to release the consumer-facing app first, then slowly build the business-facing app over time. We have added a ton of pro features, but have a lot more in store. - you mention "a couple more template options" when in fact, as of this writing, Pocketbooth Party offers 10 more template options than Pocketbooth. But your point is well taken - you'd like more templates! We'd love to help you out - let us know which templates you'd like us to add. (you mentioned one possibility) And regarding "templates that people actually like", all I can say is we'll keep adding templates as we get requests, but we respectfully suggest there are actual customers who really like our current templates ;) - font shadows is a great idea - have added it to the list - custom backgrounds is a feature that is coming - green screen is on our list, but it isn't at the top of the priority list at this time Hope some of this helps. However, it was super easy to use, fun to personalize, and printing was really easy too! We mounted our iPad on a tripod and set up a backdrop and viola, photobooth fun!!! ### 2/5 — Waste of Money *2017-05-10, version 2.5.0* Purchased the expensive version for the option to lock out settings. Not only does it lock setting but it also locks the ability of guests to email their pictures. They cannot access the gallery at all. Extremely disappointed that I wasted my money for this inaccurately described feature. ### 4/5 — Not that bad... *2017-03-24, version 2.4.3* The background selection is a solid color. Not much selection. No options for themes. There aren't many options for photo layout, or captions. There are a few layouts with captions, and only one line of text with choices for fonts. You have to be on a wifi network to use a printer. It does everything I want it to and more! I customize it for each event and every loves it. I actually custom built a locked box to hold the ipad and I never have to worry about the security. Only. My camera is 12mp, what gives? **Developer response:** Thanks for the kudos! Re: the image size, great question - this comes up a lot. Your phone’s 12 MP camera refers to the sensor’s maximum capture resolution, but the final image size depends on how the photo is processed and exported. The app optimizes images for clarity, consistency, and file size, which can result in a lower megapixel count without sacrificing visible quality. In practice, megapixels and file size don’t directly correlate with sharpness - compression, processing, and viewing size matter just as much. Other apps can see printer no problem (airprint ashared via mac), this app can not. ### 1/5 — Horrible App worse customer service *2017-09-05, version 2.6.1* For $40 I should not have the developers advertising on emails sent out at my photo booth event. FYI: there's no way to change it. Not enough customization, landscape mode seems like it would work but it doesn't. All the photos end up horizontal on a vertical template. You don't know that until you shoot horizontal. I emailed the developer, no response. People took pics but the email wouldn't work "bummer but no problem" I thought. I'll just get all the 100+ email addresses and email them all the link. Not ideal but what other choice is there? Skip to early 2016, when there is an update for this app - looks like they fix a lot of complaints. Downloaded it again, had another Halloween party and what do you know? The emails don't work again. Nice job, pulled another one over on me - this time I don't even have the outgoing emails to send them the link. Save your $40 - Don't buy this app, don't put a lot of faith in it if you do. I would like it if I could add more than just a background color and one line of words to the final photo. I’ve used other apps where they are completely customizable when I can add a school logo to the photo strip or random images to make it fit for the occasion. Don’t think it’s worth the money I paid to get something so basic. I would like my money back. ### 2/5 — Bad *2017-05-10, version 2.5.0* This app was incorrectly advertised. Many features that were in the description ended up being misleading and/or non-functional. I see I'm not the first person to comment on this in the reviews. First off, the online gallery is very hard to find as there is no support or login for it on the developers webpage. I emailed them and they pointed out to me where it was, and although I did find it, its with a completely different third party company that isn't mentioned in the description. There shouldn't be a need to sign up for another service when it is advertised as part of this app's service in the description. In addition, theres nowhere for guests to view or edit or share their photos when in "lockout" mode, which is the mode you're supposed to use when the event is running. Theres an auto print but that's all. There’s also no option to use a custom template for the printed photos. The app description advertises booth skins, but of course anyone who wants a photo booth wants to be able to skin the printout. No one cares what the actual skin of the screen looks like. It was very misleading. An app that charges 40 bucks should definitely have a trial option, but the app description was so convincing that it seemed it had everything needed to function properly. Refund requested. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Super Fun *2025-12-23, version 3.8.5* Everyone loved this thing. 2nd holiday season using this for a family party of 30ish people. Easy to set up. Easy to use. Looking back to last years photos, I’m glad i had this. I do add lighting on a tripod and this year added a big 10x8 foot backdrop. Only negative, which is not a dealbreaker, is the 10foot wide backdrop creates distance between the camera and the people (group photo). I think this distance causing a low pixel look to the photo. This also could just be a limitation of using the iPad camera. Don’t know but it is still super fun and is now a must have for the family party. ### 5/5 — Worth every PENNY! *2022-03-20, version 3.7.1* Why are people complaing about spending a little money? There is no Easier and more friendly app out there! I have used this app for so many parties, weddings, events and realestate open houses. Using this app with an iPad pro with the good front facing camera makes a world of difference! People love the 4x6 print they get, easily frameable! My only ask would be to insert a picture or logo on the bottom in the app, but even that can easly be taken care of after.
