## What is Pocketful?

Photograph the front and the back of a coin. Pocketful tells you what it is, and what it can't tell.

Every result says how sure it is. When a worn date or a hidden mint mark leaves a doubt, Pocketful says "probably" and names the detail to check. When the photo is not enough, it says so and tells you what to photograph next.

- Identify US coins and coins from the rest of the world, from a photo of each side. For older and world coins it often says "probably" and names what to check.

- Seven famous US key dates, like the 1909-S VDB cent and the 1889-CC Morgan dollar, are flagged with how to check for fakes.

- For US coins, it names the silver from the type and year, like 90% silver for a 1964 quarter or a Morgan dollar, and tells you when a modern coin is a common coin.

- Notes when a coin looks cleaned, damaged or altered, and when a photo can't confirm a proof.

- Save coins with your own photos, how many you have, and your notes. If a saved result is wrong, correct it.

- Pocketful shows no prices yet. It shows a price only when it can name the source.

- Your first 3 scans are free, and a "can't tell" result doesn't use one. Pocketful Pro: up to 100 scans a day, yearly with a 7-day free trial, or weekly.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.4 — 2026-10-31

Coin results now show in German and French when your iPhone uses those languages: the coin’s name, its country and the “What Pocketful saw” note. Fixing a result keeps the translated names, and search in your coins finds translated words.

### 1.0.3 — 2026-10-26

Improved coin scanning, onboarding, and subscription reliability.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-10-18

- Settings has a new Send feedback form, and Rate Pocketful is easier to find.
- Pocketful links, like pocketfulcoins.com/scan, now open the app straight to the scanner or to your coins.
- Pocketful now notes which Apple search ad led to your download, so we can tell which ads help people find it. Apple does not tell us who you are. Turn it off in Settings with "Share which steps I use".

### 1.0.1 — 2026-10-17

- Canadian coins: Pocketful now says when a Canadian coin is silver, worth face value, or a key date to check.
- Share a coin: the Share button on a coin's page sends its photo and what it is.
- While Pocketful looks at your coin, a ring runs around it, so you can see it's working.
- Accessibility: the iPad privacy screen fits the largest text sizes; Voice Control and VoiceOver work better across the app.
- New privacy choices: you can share which steps you use to help us improve Pocketful (off unless you turn it on), and your iPhone asks whether Pocketful may track for ad measurement.

### 1.0 — 2026-10-15

No release notes.
