### 4/5 — Pretty good so far!

*2022-06-21, version 1.2*

Excellent mobile platform to find bracket progress, but that’s about it so far. Would love to see a better search function, tournament descriptions and an attendees list. Excited to see how the new API will affect this app.

### 5/5 — Yippee

*2022-01-31, version 1.1.2*

Im just so glad that there is an app for this. Using the browser is always such a hassle

### 5/5 — Literally smash.gg in my pocket

*2021-12-09, version 1.1.1*

Very good. Everything about smash.gg but in an app

### 4/5 — Desperately needs a better search feature

*2021-11-13, version 1.1.1*

Definitely a great app and way better than using smash.gg through safari but jesus christ you have to go through so much trouble to find MAJORS. The fact tournaments streamed on btsSmash and VGBootcamp aren’t automatically in the featured section is weird enough but the search bar seems to not like ongoing tournaments considering typing in “Mainstage” will lead you to the one that happened 2 years ago, not the one that’s happening as I type this.

### 4/5 — Buena hasta ha hora

*2021-11-03, version 1.1.1*

Solo falta que esté en español

### 4/5 — Good App, but would appreciate a few tweaks

*2021-10-07, version 1.1.1*

I think this app is a few changes from being REALLY awesome!

1) Bracket should be the first tab rather than the third when you open up an event. Most people are using this app to view brackets, not seeding, so removing the need for user input there makes the app easier to use
2) It would be awesome if you could bookmark/pin a tournament using the short slug (e.g. smash.gg/ignition or just ignition, for the weekly recurring tournament ignition), instead of having to run a search for the most recent tournament each time I open the app. That way it’s easy to get to the most recent event in a recurring series that reuses the same short slug

### 4/5 — Missing a couple things

*2021-10-03, version 1.1.1*

Overall this app is great, it makes smash.gg much better to manage especially on mobile. Although, I do wish that I could follow certain players to see how they’re doing or at least be able to search for specific players in tournament instead of having to find them by searching through the brackets. I also think that including the rule sets for the tournaments would be a nice addition, but other than that I’ll definitely be using this app!

### 5/5 — So Much Better than the Mobile App

*2021-08-19, version 1.1*

It was pretty easy to set up, and now I don’t have to worry about it. Lots of good functionality outside of being more consistent than the website like having favorited tournaments and being able to pinch to zoom in and out of large brackets. Get this, it’s a no brainer.

The one caveat, and why I can’t give 5 stars, is that the search feature is pretty poor. Even if I type my tournaments name exactly verbatim, I often need to scroll super far to find it. I’m not sure what’s going on here but it should be improved.

Edit: I see that the search problem is largely on smash.gg’s end. If this is really out of the app dev’s hands then what can you do :/

### 4/5 — Amazing App (Perth TO)

*2021-08-15*

So I’m a Perth Smash TO for an event called Smashfest, I found out about this app via a member of the Perth smash community and I will say I’ve been wanting something like this for such a long time. It’s smooth, it flows so fluently. I couldn’t ask for a better App, well done so far seriously.

I have seen your Twitter and I know TO features are planned and are on the way, which is why I’m giving this a 4 Star review, once there is TO features and they work well, 100% 5 Stars.

Thank you for providing such an amazing and so heavily wanted app.

### 5/5 — Very good

*2021-08-04, version 1.0.1*

The less I have to use the actual Smash.gg the better.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Stopped working

*2022-08-04, version 1.2*

The app has stopped loading tournaments

### 1/5 — Can never find tournament I search for

*2022-03-15, version 1.2*

I literally copy paste tournament names and cannot find them in the app.

### 2/5 — Smooth but useless

*2024-08-07, version 1.2.2*

The main reason why ANYONE would use this app would be to check their own brackets/times/seeding/etc. Unfortunately this app doesnt do that. Without the most important feature, this app is pretty much useless.

A shame because start.gg is a literal nightmare to use on mobile web.

### 3/5 — invites

*2026-05-02, version 2.0.2*

I wanna be able to accept invites from this app and get notifs on tourney invites

### 3/5 — Needs area code

*2022-10-17, version 1.2*

Really cool app with potential, I just wish I could put in my area code for closer tournaments.

### 3/5 — Good but could be better

*2022-05-12, version 1.2*

Really good for when you have a smash.gg to incorporate into the app, which requires you be playing these games competitively. However, the location setting could be fine tuned a great deal. Having users only being able to select their state, rather than their county or city, creates an extensive list, most of which tends to be inaccessible to the user. Maybe a radius setting would be better

### 3/5 — I just got the app

*2022-04-27, version 1.2*

How to access your own tournaments?
This is the reason why i got the app

### 4/5 — Great tool! Some suggestions

*2023-11-13, version 1.2.1*

I love the ability to follow TOs and filter to a specific location. These features both work super well, especially when combined, makes it super easy to keep up with your local scene

Some suggestions:
Add a way to see the amount of people registered for a tournament
Add support for character data while viewing the bracket

Thank you so much! Somebody had to make an app!

### 4/5 — Solid app

*2022-12-15, version 1.2*

Works as you’d think. Runs *significantly* smoother than start.gg. The main pros are:
*Runs smoother than the buggy start.gg website
*Complete and quick history off all past tournaments
*Shows placings easily
*Much cleaner look than start.gg

There are some major drawbacks though:
*You can’t view seeding
*Doesn’t update immediately after bracket is live, so you still have to use start.gg for the first part of bracket
*Tournament search feature is basically worthless (you can search the exact name of a tournament, and it won’t show up)
*Featured and Upcoming tournaments list doesn’t acknowledge geography, so you’re getting random tournaments that aren’t relevant to you at all

Granted, some or all of these things may not have solutions.
Nothing loads on the app. Everything is labeled as “Unable to load tournament.” Been like that for weeks.

### 4/5 — Good, no support for ladder?

*2022-10-27, version 1.2*

Great otherwise!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — So so much better than the website.

*2026-07-07, version 2.0.2*

This app is a god send for anyone who competes and gets annoyed as the frankly abysmal start.gg mobile website. 10/10 would recommend.

### 5/5 — greatest app that I need that I didn’t know existed til now

*2024-10-23*

start.gg felt like such a pain going through on the web and I genuinely didn’t know this existed til today, it literally takes almost everything start.gg has and put’s it into an app. hopefully they add editing you’re profile and such into the app as the next update because that would very much complete the app for me.

edit: also feel they should add another feature like filtering for searching in the search tab and filtering for the home tab. As searching for things can somewhat be a hassle.

### 5/5 — The best for tournaments!

*2024-02-05, version 1.2.1*

This app makes finding tournaments in specific regions, registering for tournaments, checking bracket(s), and everything tournament related so much easier than it is online. I love this app and tell anyone I can about it when I get the chance. I think it’s a game-changer and a must-have, especially for anyone who’s serious about gaming tournaments.

### 5/5 — Esta perfecto

*2023-10-15, version 1.2.1*

no me ha dado fallos y es bastante fácil de usar, 5mentarios

### 5/5 — Pretty cool

*2023-06-03, version 1.2*

No random ads or bugs, works the way the developer says. Little outdated, talks about Smash gg though they’ve rebranded to Start gg. No complaints here, used it while I was at Dreamhack

### 5/5 — Is this App down?

*2023-05-23, version 1.2*

I usually keep up with tourneys and sign up on the app. Now nothing is able to load? Is the app down or discontinued ?

### 5/5 — Fantastic from a player’s perspective

*2022-10-07, version 1.2*

As someone who participates in tournaments very often this app is amazing. Features like being able to follow tournament organizers is very well done along with reordering the Home Screen. I have some suggestions for the developer of the app because I would love to see this app succeed further.
1. Being able to see rosters of teams in the bracket and standings UI. Similar to how on the start.gg website, you can click on a matchup or team and view the roster of that team. I understand if this is a API limitation
2. Notifications for following organizers. This might already be an option I just haven’t been able to find it. But I think it would be a good addition to ask the user when they first load up to ask for notifications. Receiving notifications for tournaments that are going to happen would be great for players.
3. Being able to see the pending invites/active roster of a user’s team for a tournament that they have signed up for. This also could be an API limitation, but it would be really convenient to be able to see right from the app if your teammates have accepted the invite that everyone gets when you register for a tournament with a team. Furthermore it would also just be nice to see your roster at a glance for each tournament maybe in a different menu when you scroll down or in the registration area without having to be redirected to the start.gg website.

Thank you for creating this wonderful app, your work is appreciated

### 5/5 — Pocket gg rules

*2022-07-27, version 1.2*

It just does

### 5/5 — way better format to view smashgg on mobile

*2022-02-20, version 1.1.2*

smashgg on mobile browsers are iffy at best, and this app is great!

much love to devs❤️❤️
