Starting to show its age. ### 4/5 — Sync issues *2023-08-25, version 3.6.2* I’ve tried about a half-dozen apps for cataloging my movies and music, and this is by far the most comprehensive and flexible. Unfortunately, I’m now having sync problems. Pocketpedia syncs just fine with the desktop CDPedia app, but it no longer syncs with the DVDPedia app. It’s really a shame, because otherwise it’s just about perfect. ### 2/5 — Unstable and buggy *2020-10-30, version 3.6.2* Was really good once upon a time but now I’m constantly uninstalling and reinstalling it because it will not sync or gets hung up “merging” with CDpedia, its desktop counterpart. Looking for a better solution for a rather large music collection. Can no longer recommend this. In fact, avoid it. There are better Apps out there that do a much better job for free. ### 3/5 — Good, with caveats *2019-12-27, version 3.6.1* I like Bruji’s products, especially on the desktop. They are to be lauded for continuing to support this older iOS app (just as they do their evolving suite for desktop). What I miss in Pocketpedia is plain ease of use. Ergonomically, it would be a massive improvement if we could flick through, say, movies without having to resort to only controlling the app via the tiny thumbnails. In short, let us move from entry to entry by using the entry details (on the right side of the screen) or, more ideally, the larger image itself. Too much fussy tappity-tap is required right now for comfortable portable use. Support for dark screen use is also a must. ### 4/5 — Solid companion app for a nice set of OSX apps *2019-03-04, version 3.6* Pocketpedia itself is solid - does what it needs to do, what you’d expect. It’s strength lies in the fact that it is a single companion apps for multiple inventory applications. I use Bookpedia, Gamepedia, CDpedia and DVDpedia. Pocketpedia syncs with all of them and provides access to all within a single application. Just what I was looking for. I walked away from the Collectorz (CLZ) series of applications when they went to a subscription model. Bruji provided me with a solid replacement without a subscription. ### 2/5 — Decent Companion App But Needs IPhone X Update *2018-11-27, version 3.5* It has been a year since the app has been updated and still does not support the new screen layouts for the iPhone X line. It’s frustrating to look at my collection on my phone. That on top of still having to manually sync with my computer and no iCloud or Dropbox support has me seriously considering a new app after using the desktop app for over 10 years now. ### 3/5 — it’ok but... *2018-06-10, version 3.5* ... version 3 doesn’t syncronize with new version 5.6.1, please advise ### 4/5 — Okay but needs an update *2018-02-11, version 3.5* This app is a great companion to the desktop app however there are several things that it lacks. - adding games will only search the one database instead of giving you options from other websites. - syncing is a nice feature, but having to do it manually every time seems old school - adding some different view options would be a great help as well. ### 4/5 — Almost perfect *2017-12-07, version 3.5* I LOVE how I can easily edit everything to suit me. The borrowed and loaned stuff is great too. BUT it crashes 9/10 times after adding something to it. It does however save what you put in before it crashed, so minor annoyance at worst. If this could be fixed it would be a five star app for sure. ### 2/5 — Not bad for a portable db library, but... *2017-05-21, version 3.4.4* The major problem is it can't find half the books I try to scan. It gets the ISBN correct but can't find any listings in online databases. Why I don't know, all are new books published in the last year, well known titles. That's disappointing and a problem as a library grows, you can only add so many books manually before you give it up. If the developer can improve that feature it'll get 4 stars. ### 4/5 — Does what it says and does it well *2016-01-16, version 3.4.1* Maybe the folk at LinkedIn should give you call and get some advice on how to build an iPad app. I'm sure you could make it understandable for the beginner. :-) ### 3/5 — Useful app but the search feature is lacking *2015-07-24, version 3.3.3* This is a good app that helps keep track of your music collection. Also, you can search whether you have a particular song in your CD collection; however, the search function is very basic compared to the desktop (Mac) version. Specifically, you can only search by the song title only; in fact, it has to be worded EXACTLY, meaning, you must include ALL words in the song title, and in the correct order. On the desktop (Mac) version, you can search using just keywords, in any order, and most importantly, you can search using a combination of words in the song title AND artist, which comes in handy when, say, you want to know how many times an artist's song appears across your CD collection. Lastly, if you simply want to search how many times an artist (no particular song) appears in your collection the app only displays CD's solely by that artist only, but not any compilations that may have that particular artist on it, whereas, the desktop (Mac) version does this effortlessly. Until the search feature matches the desktop version (if ever) I'll keep the rating at its present state. ### 2/5 — LIBRARY STOPPED SYNCING WITH MAC COLLECTION *2015-06-02, version 3.3.2* Used to enjoy reviewing my collection from iPad, but now it is out of date with my iMac database. It pretends to sync, but no changes occur. Fix it please! ### 4/5 — Brilliant database application *2015-04-01, version 3.2.2* App syncs seamlessly between the OS X version of the programmes and the iOS version. Definitely a useful app to have when you're wondering through the store and can't exactly remember what you've got a home. Couple of things that might need to be revised: iPhone 6/6+ optimisation and it crashes occasionally when editing data on the go. Other than that. A great app to have. ### 4/5 — Too many clicks! *2015-02-06, version 3.2.2* Nice app and a great companion to the Mac version but too many button touches are needed to add a book with the camera. I takes three touches on completely different areas of the screen to scan a bar code. Only one button should be required. And I agree with other reviews that it needs iCloud syncing. The data sources leave a little to be desired but that's not the developer's fault, you just need to review the descriptions as they are being added. Overall it is a very useful App for anyone with a large collection of films or even home movies. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Failed to configure *2025-02-10, version 3.6.2* Could not configure it. Instructions did not agree with options on my IPad. Wasted over an hour attempting to configure I could not find support and finally decided to trash the App. On the other hand Bookpedia does work on my IMac. TOO BAD ### 1/5 — Unusable *2022-06-29, version 3.6.2* I should have read the reviews before purchasing. App is unusable. Trying to scan codes and was unable to find a single title, adding manually marginally works but totally defeats the purpose. ### 1/5 — ISBN scanner total failure *2021-03-09, version 3.6.2* cannot recognize any scanned ISBNs - worthless ### 1/5 — Cumbersome to add movies, slow scanner, recognized only 1 of first 5 I tried to add *2020-03-15, version 3.6.2* Based on the good reviews I bought this. Of the first 5 movies I tried to add by scanning their barcodes, the only one it found was Suckerpunch on BluRay – but nothing Glee, Fantastic Beasts Crimes of Grindelwald, or other not-exactly-rare discs. Nor did searching the text “Crimes of Grindelwald” bring any search results! Looks like I’d have to type in everything by hand. If I wanted to do that I’d still be using Delicious Library 2 on my Mac. Camera scanner is very slow, too. ### 1/5 — Search is broken *2018-08-27, version 3.5* Comes back instantly with nothing found, suggesting that it’s not even trying. The MacOs version searches through about 8 different sources and manages to find all my media no problem (but it’s far less convenient holding up to that camera than scanning with my phone). Avoid. ### 1/5 — Not recommended *2016-09-18, version 3.4.1* It's an ok app just not worth the money I mean most of the books I have can't be found on doghouse search which is a shame since I have to add them manually. Defeats the point of getting this app. Other than that it's an average library app. Not worth $3.99. ### 1/5 — Barcode reader adds a zero *2016-09-14, version 3.4.1* No wonder it can't find anything. Synchronized easily and quickly. I’m very happy to have all of this info on my iPad. I always have my song listing with me, useful when hunting down rare singles. I can use the Bruji database directly on this app. Awesomeness. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 ### 5/5 — Pocketpedia3 *2014-08-23, version 3.2.1* I use Pocketpedia on my: Mac; iPad and iPhone. Excellent software that does what it says on the tin. What I particularly like is that each book comes with a summary, and a photo, which helps remind me of the storyline, particularly useful when reading a trilogy over a long period of time. The only major improvement I would suggest is the use iCloud, or Dropbox for synching instead of the present system. ### 5/5 — Wonderful Addition to the Suite *2014-05-05, version 3.2.1* I have three of the 'pedia's and this syncs flawlessly with them. I wanted the ability to see collections on the go, and this does that in style. Help locate your media. Can't remember the author? you can keyword search. This software lets you carry your libraries on your phone and iPad, syncing with your laptop. Easily move things you donate to keep a record of gifts.
