### 5/5 — Another HIT!

*2015-12-28*

I teach kindergarten students to read. This app is the best one for teaching them letter sounds, letter writing, building words with letter sounds, and blending sounds. I believe this approach produces the best results! (There is research proving it, too.) Also, my students just beam with delight when they finish a level and earn a new certificate! Thank you! Oh, this app's price might seem high, but actually it is a bargain. How much would a one-on-one tutor cost? How much would beginning reader books cost? Also, there is great support if you ever need it!

### 5/5 — Daughter is learning while playing

*2015-12-24*

My daughter loves this app. She thinks it’s a game just like any other - it may as well be a car racing game as far as she is concerned, but all the while she’s learning about letters. She’s able to recognise every letter of the alphabet and make the sound + write them out already at 3 years of age, and I’m sure playing with this app has helped her. Worth it.

### 5/5 — Makes learning fun.

*2015-10-20*

Great app, our granddaughter is entranced.

### 5/5 — Pocket phonics

*2015-10-02*

Hi would just like to say well done for creating this app. We have a child with learning difficulties and this is helping him quite a lot. My son likes to play and learn on this,so if you are thinking of getting but are unsure I would recommend thanks.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2015-09-29*

My 4 year old loves it and I like that he is learning.

### 5/5 — Fab

*2015-09-29*

My son loves this series of apps, he is autistic and was behind on his reading but it has come on well recently which I think is in part because he doesn't see the app as school work. My son uses the app at school and at work and links them so both school and home can monitor his progress.

### 5/5 — Won't load... Will load ☺️

*2015-09-10*

Crashes every time you try to open it since last update...

...now found that uninstalling and reinstalling the app solves that issue. Now working fine and as good as ever. Our 5yr old loves it.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2015-09-04*

I love this app and think it's wonderful. The students I use it with think it's wonderful as well. I think any teacher who has an iPad should use this with students that need some extra help. And parents it's also great for home.... Best buy ever.

### 5/5 — Reading tutor

*2015-04-07*

I use this app with my early school- aged tutoring students. It dovetails well with my traditional phonics based curriculum. The students see it as " reward time" while it reinforces the lessons we have just completed.

### 5/5 — The best learning App

*2015-03-09*

This is a great way of making both reading and writing interactive for little ones. Mine loves doing the quizzes and getting a certificate (he even wants to share them with his teacher) and it progresses at a great rate. You don't have to sit with them all the time so is ideal for him to just try in his own time to progress. It is great that it is in British accent/pronunciation and also follows the way in which they learn at school so helps supplement much more than other apps.

The stories themselves are really well written and engaging, he has started to get to know some of the characters and likes that f he gets stuck that help is also available, but unless he really understands he can't progress. Just as good as all the other apps in the series and can't recommend it enough.

### 5/5 — My boy loves it, and is making great progress

*2015-01-12*

I first used abc Pocket Phonics with my eldest a couple of years ago. It really gave her a good start with her reading, and she barely realised she was learning.
Now my four year old has just started learning his letters and he’s doing great already. I only used abc Pocket Phonics on an iPhone before, and the iPad gives much more room. He’s not far from getting to his first story, which is amazing. I’ve checked how the stories work, and it’s really clever. I can see how it helps when kids get stuck, which is always a frustrating thing for them.
So I’m a big fan of the PocketPhonics apps, they’ve proven a big help with getting my kids reading.

### 5/5 — Love It!!

*2014-12-24*

My 4 year old & my 7 year old (with special needs) just started using this App & we love it!!!. My 4 yea old is recognizing letters & now due to the app sounding out lots of new words. My 7 year old who was not reading has progressed through words & 5 stories, this is a huge accomplishment for him and has really built up his confidence during our reading time. I am so glad we are able to use this app for our boys. It’s fun, engaging, & well researched. I’m a huge fan of phonic based literacy initiatives & after reading the literature and experiencing the app it is all that and more. A must for home or school use!

### 1/5 — Doesn’t even load

*2020-01-09*

I have purchased this product. It does not even load past the initial screen. Have contacted customer support multiple times and multiple responses have still not sorted the issue. To be honest they rested me as if I was an idiot with the first two replies suggesting I switch the device on and off and that I redownload. Like I hadn’t tried both those already. Not happy I paid the most I’ve paid for a phonics app and it doesn’t even work. Don’t waste your money.

**Developer response:** I'm very sorry that you feel you have not had a good service. The advice offered does fix more than 90% of issues. However, obviously has not helped in your case. Please get in touch at support@appsinmypocket.com, so that we can get this sorted for you. The issue you have had is very unusual, but I'm determined to sort out what's gone wrong.

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2016-10-07*

There is a bug in the story section that causes the ap to shut down. The update that has been provided, I am guessing to fix this, doesn't load. Very disappointing because up until recently, this seemed like a great tool to teach reading. Add three stars if they fix the updated version to load.

**Developer response:** Hi, it's just become possible to reply to reviews. Sorry about this issue. It was fixed in the next release. Have you been able to upgrade? You can contact us: support@appsinmypocket.com

### 3/5 — Same functionality as Pocket Phonics Stories

*2018-02-09*

FYI, This app (full) has the same functionality as Pocket Phonics Stories app. However, in pocket phonics stories app, you have the option to purchase a lifetime access.

### 4/5 — This app is amazing for my kids

*2019-09-25*

This app is amazing for my kids they are learning so well. It’s sticks and they remember it. Most of all the stories aren’t dry and boring my kids love the stories that are included. I would have given 5 stars but the only thing I haven’t seen yet are words like “take like made Pete note” silent “e” words maybe My kids haven’t gotten there but I don’t see it.

**Developer response:** Hi, delighted to hear you like the app so much.

You are quite right, there are some "silent e" words towards the end of the app. Not a huge number of them at this point, but there are some. I'd love to be able to add a section that was devoted to them at some point.

### 4/5 — Crashes

*2015-09-04*

Crashes every time so I can't review!

### 4/5 — lots of possibilities

*2014-12-25*

this is a very expensive app, but a great resource. Little annoying that when you unlock a level for a child it doesn't stay unlocked. Also an Australian accent for the voice would be a great addition.

### 5/5 — It’s working!

*2023-10-28*

My daughter doesn’t mind practicing reading and writing when it’s on my phone. She does it quite thoroughly and I’ve seen improvements.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2021-01-07*

Daughter enjoys it and the voice speaks clearly with an English accent.

### 5/5 — Great in Every Way

*2020-07-10*

As a speech pathologist, I’ve known many children who had difficulty learning to read because they lacked phonemic awareness- the concept that words are made up of individual sounds. That concept of sounds you say and hear (regardless of written letters) needs to be strong in order for sound- letter teaching to make sense. This app does a stellar job of focusing on the sounds-in-words concept as they gradually ease in the associated letters. With the addition of activities of simple writing and “reading a book” right away, I find the whole experience to be right on target. I also appreciate that there’s not all the extended bells and whistles going off for every correct input. I think that many apps overdo the right answer reward. Though the app is for children, it’s not overly babyish and I recently showed Pocket Phonics to an adult who is a beginning reader and he was intrigued and pleased to work on it. Great app!

### 5/5 — Fantastic app

*2020-07-01*

My 4 year old has been using the app for 2 months and is now reading very well. The exercises and books are a good length for working through a little each day. He always wants to go back and has fun taking the quizzes at the end of each book.

My dyslexic first grader is really frustrated in school but loves this app. He actually likes learning from it. Thank you!

### 5/5 — PocketPhonics Stories

*2018-06-29*

I highly recommend this app. My child enjoys using it and the app is very easy to use and engaging. I particularly like that you can choose an English voice or American voice for the pronunciation. You are able to personalise the style of the text and choose between upper and lowercase letters. My child finds it motivating when they receive a certificate or feedback from the program. When I had any difficulties/problem or didn’t understand something, the customer support was excellent. The developer was quick to respond. I also purchased Pocket Phonics and Dot to Dot letters and numbers. These compliment the PocketPhonic Stories App.

### 5/5 — Best reading app by far

*2016-11-29*

This pocket phonics stories app is by far the best educational app I have used. My three year old can read and this app is the main reason for this. This app so much better than the other reading apps we tried. Best value for money ever!

### 5/5 — Without question the leading resource that helped my girls learn to read

*2016-09-07*

The developer has always replied with hours to the few suggestions/issues that I have made.

The display is clean and interesting enough to hold my LOs attention.

The sections that develop writing are invaluable in guiding the correct way to form each letter.

They love getting their certificates for each level passed... And I love showing them off!

I do everything that I can to recommend this all to all who will listen

### 5/5 — Fantastic
