One of the most glaring issues is its frequent failure during SMS validation, leaving users stranded with an error message. Even after reinstalling and clearing the cache, this problem persists, indicating deeper underlying issues in its functionality. Recently, a new problem surfaced where successful OTP validation leads to another roadblock: the app prompts users to validate their Pocket card by entering their date of birth, only to get stuck on the same page indefinitely. It’s a good feature but you need to work on it . It becomes worst if you have slightly lower internet strength. Apps like paytm works smoothly in this aspects. I’m looking for the improvement as I have ICICI bank account so it’s better to sync but if not resolved I had to go with the MobiKwiks pocket UPI. It does register with international phone number. Connected to my bank account. Then started asking for my date of birth and gender etc. why does it need that info just to setup payment. As of today 3rd of Oct 23, the app won’t open at all. If using wifi it will give unsecured wifi error and crash after that even though i have WPA2 AES enabled. On trying to open using mobile data, it just says unable to connect to server and crashes again. Haven’t been able to use the app for last 2 days and money is stuck. I tried pockets, and it has been a nightmare. On the outside it looks like an attractive idea - UPI linked digital wallet, but it is just a ‘freebie’ by icici, and it is treated that way. I tried this for a couple of months, and in between iOS 16 was launched - and the nightmare began. It has been over 2 weeks since then, and this app does not work on iOS 16. To make matters worse, the customer service is terrible. They only work from 9am to 7pm on weekdays, people who answer the phone ask you to write an email. They follow up 2 days later, each time from a different person. My problem was not resolved, and my money was stuck in the wallet as you cannot use netbanking to access pockets wallet. I had to borrow my friends phones everyday, transfer my sim, install pockets on their phone, and transfer the money . I had to do this 5 times as the app allows a transfer of only ₹5,000 when installed in a new phone 😭😭. It has been a nightmare. Seems apps is designed only for indian customers. Why don’t the app don’t have option to provide mobile number where customers can provide current number. ### 1/5 — Date of birth entry by calendar is idiotic *2021-05-27* I was born in 1954 Yo enter my date of birth to register, I had to use their calendar which moves back one month at a time. From May2021 to select a date of birth in 1954, I had to scroll back 12 months into 67 years which was 784 times getting sore fingers and to top it up in that much time the registration timed out. Cant the basic intelligence be applied to either enter the date of birth and take a confirmation OR select year of birth and scroll for the month OR give an option to scroll back in years? I used this app last year and it worked perfectly, but for the last 5–6 months, logging in has been impossible. After entering the Aadhaar OTP, the app just keeps loading forever and never proceeds further. This has been an extremely frustrating experience. The app performance is disappointing, and the overall user experience has become very poor. However, after setting the PIN, no further process happens — the app keeps loading continuously. Every time, it also asks me to verify my mobile number again. This is one of the worst applications I have experienced from ICICI Bank. Instead of spending heavily on advertisements, the bank should focus on improving the app’s performance and user experience. ### 1/5 — Worst banking app experience. *2025-12-22* The app barely works. It’s painfully slow, crashes randomly, and feels completely unreliable. Even after successful Face ID, it shows “wrong PIN”. How is that even possible? This is basic authentication logic and the app gets it wrong. Half the time the app freezes, the other half it crashes. Simple actions take forever to load. Using this app is more stressful than helpful. For an ICICI product, this is unacceptable. A banking app should be fast and secure, not buggy and frustrating. After entering my PIN during registration, the app just keeps loading and nothing happens. It gets stuck in this loop and then blocks me for 24 hours. It's incredibly frustrating. I wouldn’t recommend wasting your time trying to register or log in. It’s easier to use alternative wallet apps like Freecharge or MobiKwik, which are far more accessible and user-friendly. Pocket, despite being branded, is a total letdown. I am using iphone 12 with IOS 16, while downloading it from app store it says “Do you want to download last compatible version with IOS 16 for the app?”. First of all icici used to drop application support everytime there is a new IOS release. If you used to drop support for app that quick then I think your bank users maybe only millionaires as only they can get latest iphones with every IOS release to make sure it can run latest IOS to run your app. Middle class can’t keep up with you for more than a year or less. Here’s a breakdown of the issues I encountered: 1. App Hangs with PAN Card Input: Upon trying to input my PAN card details, the app frequently hangs, causing frustration and delays in the registration process. 2. Inconsistent Mobile Number Recognition: The app often fails to recognize my mobile number, leading to repeated attempts to verify my identity, which is not only time-consuming but also inconvenient. 3. Persistent PIN Issues: Despite setting up a PIN, the app repeatedly fails to recognize it, claiming it to be incorrect even moments after it was established. Attempts to reset the PIN result in errors, further complicating the login process. 4. Failure of Face ID Recognition: The promised Face ID feature consistently fails to work, adding another layer of inconvenience and undermining the app’s security claims. 5. Excessive SMS Verification and Account Lockouts: The app’s insistence on SMS verification every time it’s opened is not only tedious but also results in frequent account lockouts. Receiving over 50 SMS in a month just to access the app is excessive, and the frequent lockouts, occurring four times in a week, are highly frustrating. Google Pay was able to find and link my bank acc using the same number after sms verification. I don’t understand how the bank’s own app fails to do so.
