### 3/5 — My App won’t stay on Basic (always on) Charging

*2026-08-22*

The app worked well to start with as I selected Basic Charging so that this wouldn’t interfere with my energy supplier tariff. The Pod Home App will randomly move me to scheduled charging and therefore means several times I have come out in the morning with the car not charged to the level I have needed. Frustrating as the previous Pod Point app worked without issue. Will need to contact POD for a fix I guess

### 2/5 — Trying to be too clever

*2026-08-05*

Lots to like here, and the intent of rewarding and promoting ethical charging is a positive. However - it’s just too annoying and unintuitive to navigate. I ended up going for the ‘simple’ mode to charge whenever I like. All these schedule features on Reward mode counteract or overlap with each other plus my car’s app too - car linked schedules, tariff schedules, trickle charging schedules. I just want to know that when I plug in at night I’ll have the desired battery % when I leave in the morning. Please make Reward mode more accessible and intuitive. Less modes, less screens - keep it simple please.

### 1/5 — Why ?

*2026-08-04, version 2.6.4*

Old app worked perfectly fine. Podpoint seem to have solved a problem that didn’t exist…..

### 1/5 — Wreaked my charging

*2026-08-02, version 2.6.3*

Intelligent Octopus worked fine for years with podpoint app. Now forced onto Pod Home and it’s all over the place and doesn’t consistently charge car. Why mess me up!

### 2/5 — A step backwards

*2026-08-02*

Why did you remove the schedule charging feature? This was the best feature of your old app, and feels like a step backwards. My heart sank when I saw you’d removed this feature. The car link system has never worked for me, especially as I have multiple cars. I appreciate it may work well for others, but please bring the schedule charging feature back.

Removing it has meant it is now costing me more money to charge my car, as the charger now chargers my car when it feels like it, not between the set times I want it too. Being able to set a schedule of charging between certain times was far the easiest, and cheapest way for me to charge, and was the best feature of your app.

By all means keep the linking between car and charger, but don’t do away with a feature that worked really well for others. You need to cater for all your customers.

Please bring back being able to manually create a charging schedule.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2026-08-02, version 2.6.3*

What a rubbish start to Pods new app which I have been forced to try and use because the old one is closing. I can’t even accept the terms and conditions. Utterly useless. I’ve had to resort to my cars onboard charging clock to time my charging.

### 1/5 — Why!!

*2026-08-01, version 2.6.3*

Sold as an improvement - but just a load more admin and now I have to use two different apps when pod point was perfectly fine. We charge 2 cars , now just more messing about - pointless!!!

### 1/5 — I can’t give less than 1

*2026-08-01, version 2.6.3*

Best I can say is get something else as this is hopeless. So called easy solution. It isn’t. I will set the timings in the car. What a waste of time this is. Car didn’t charge. Good job I don’t trust this useless trash. So called making it all easy

### 1/5 — What have you done?

*2026-07-31, version 2.6.3*

How have you got this so wrong

### 1/5 — What is this nightmare?

*2026-07-31, version 2.6.3*

We were perfectly happy charging our car on the fully functional pod point app. This app is a nightmare to use and makes it impossible to simply plug and charge with any kind of ease. We paid to install the charger in our home with the expectation of ease of use. This is completely unacceptable, please reinstate the old system immediately.

### 1/5 — Downgrade from previous version

*2026-07-30, version 2.6.3*

It’s 12:01 mid day and I am travelling after 5 to London. Having charged my car on cheaper electric overnight I have had to make 2 small trips in on 87% so want to top off for this evenings trip. App had to update. Now instead of saying charge for an hour I have to jump through hoops. The app thinks I’ll need to charge until 2:30 to get to 100%. It’s a previous! 17.8kwh battery! 2.5 hours to put 2.3 kWh into the car when it charges at 7kwh…. What is going on? It used to be easy to say just put another hours charge in the car - not now!

### 1/5 — Replacement to pod point app is a huge frustration

*2026-07-30*

I loved the pod point app; it gave me the exact controls I required as an ev owner with a solar & large battery installation

However the new Pod Home app fails to do what’s required; an example: I have set it to only charge my plugged in vehicle when my panels produce 1.4kwh or more power and to ONLY use this source of power supply. Lo and behold I wake to find that my solar batteries are drained because this awful app over-ruled my instruction as the bill payer that a mandated departure time should overrule my instruction and fill my ev from elsewhere than solar (by buying from the grid). I can’t afford for this nonsense to continue.

The “ready by” and “target charge” overrule my instructions to only take power from my solar panels. The further negative impact I’m experiencing: I am unable to use my solar battery installation as it’s designed.

Target charge is taken from my ev, which is set to a standard 80% cap to facilitate utilisation of long sunshine hours; this doesn’t mean I personally want it to charge to that % every time it’s plugged in by using other sources of power. This would be quickly solved if the app user could select a tick box to overrule what’s currently happening.

Please Make it stop pof point!

### 1/5 — Didn’t need fixing

*2026-07-29, version 2.6.3*

I’ve gone from being able to charge the car easily to being stuck in a technical loop.
No simple transfer of details from previous app. No proper guidance/warning of what was coming. Completely mucked up an already busy evening. Shoddy customer service

### 2/5 — Why 2 apps

*2026-07-29, version 2.6.3*

In the 21st century you now have to have a separate app to charge at home to charge on public networks when for years it’s been a tab in the unified app. Backward step

### 1/5 — This app is garbage and makes no sense.

*2026-07-28, version 2.6.3*

Logged in and it tries to sell me a new pod, I have a pod and this app gives no indication of how to connect of see if the car is charging. You have massively screwed up and not tested this product properly. I particularly like the part that says download the Pod Rewards app which reads like a different app buts just a link to the Pod home app you’re already in, super redundant and confusing. We are your customers not your dev team sort it out and maybe consider actual user testing before releasing going forward.

### 3/5 — Off peak hours not charging

*2026-07-28, version 2.6.3*

Previous App better

### 1/5 — How not to upgrade an app

*2026-07-27, version 2.6.2*

The old PodPoint app was so simple to use but extremely functional.
This new one…… awful. I have a meeting this morning 90 miles away and have just got to my car to find it only charged 22% last night so I now cannot attend the meeting. Why on Earth have you made it so confusing to set your parameters? When I first looked at the app on downloading it I wasn’t impressed and this experience backs that up.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Backwards step!

*2026-08-27*

The last update is not what was expected we have Citroen ec4’s and we have linked them to the app as we have a cheap EDF POD tarriff. So the last two occasions I have asked to charge to 100% there has been plenty of time but the app decides not to start at 11am and pauses for one hour! Why! Then it only gets to 96% we have the correct version of this car! We did not have this issue before the update!

Well still can’t charge to 100% keeps deciding to pause the charging sort this out thinking about reverting to the pod point app! Sort this out please!

Still can’t get to 100% when smart charging has plenty of time because it keeps pausing why should I need to switch to basic charging to get 100% sort this out please or allow us to choose when it will pause!

### 1/5 — The worst App I have ever seen

*2026-08-17*

Do not install this App if you value your privacy, or the right to maintain full control of your EV charging point. The previous PodPoint App just showed statistics of charging and allowed you to set a simple schedule. This new App first of all insists you provide full details of your electricity supplier, smart meter details and your car(s) - including VINs. Other data they can collect includes gender, age, occupation and financial information including bank details. This information can also be shared amongst Pod’s 479 partners.

You are also agreeing to maintain a permanent Internet connection to the EV charging point so Pod can remotely switch on/off the charger and suspend charging sessions at their convenience.

It seems to be a one time choice to accept the terms and relinquish control of your charger.

It is clear that that this application is all about Pod’s French owners EDF taking control of your EV charging to allow them to reduce their demand when energy costs are high. They also impose conditions about not signing up with other suppliers PEAK demand schemes once you have accepted Pod’s agreement.

This is a disgrace. Bring back the simple reporting in the original PodPoint app.

### 1/5 — Keep it simple

*2026-08-08, version 2.6.4*

Prefer to set my own charge times. Not interested in these Reward schemes.
For example for my vehicle,
one hour’s charge = 12% .
If my vehicle is at 44% l will set my charger for 3 hours to keep within the 20-80% recommended battery state.
Why over complicate things?

### 1/5 — Terrible App

*2026-08-08*

I have been made to change to Pod Home when the Pod Point App worked perfectly. I came back from holiday and needed to charge my car quickly- only to find that I had to input my own tariffs before it would let me continue. It is not Pod Homes business to know my tariffs- it makes no difference to my spending- but I could not charge my car until I had tried to fine them- very frustrating!! And now I can’t easily see if my car is charging- why change an app that wasn’t broken- the new app is not user friendly whatsoever- I bought from Pod Point, not Pod Home and I am not happy- this is not reliable enough for me to depend on it charging my car overnight- it is making having and EV much more difficult- when for the last 2 years I have had no issues - please go back to the old App- I worry for older people who do not like technology and who have to get used to a whole new app which is absolutely NOTHING like the old one- terrible, terrible APP- feel like I have been miss old a product!!

### 1/5 — Rubbish

*2026-08-08, version 2.6.4*

Two weeks of having this new app and my vehicle has not charged 3 times. The previous year and half my vehicle never missed a charge. Absolutely pathetic

### 1/5 — Irritating app

*2026-08-07, version 2.6.4*

I am continuously being asked to download pod home. Although I have done this multiple times. Also I cannot more cars. So does this mean I can only charge one car?

### 1/5 — How can you get it so wrong

*2026-08-06, version 2.6.4*

Don’t you read your reviews to understand you’re forcing people to go onto an “update” that’s far worse than the original

### 1/5 — Scheduled charging

*2026-08-06, version 2.6.4*

Why take off the scheduled charging feature??? Not everyone has the time to wait for the wee hours to plug in their car to allow charging. What a ridiculous idea!

### 1/5 — Worse than the old one

*2026-08-06, version 2.6.4*

Pod forced you to change to this app. The old one worked fine but this one refuses to connect to my wifi and so I can’t charge the car.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2026-08-05, version 2.6.4*

If you want your car to not charge at all, choose the “smart charging” feature and then watch as nothing happens. Had to switch to basic charging to tell it when to actually charge, and of course by doing that they rule you out of the rewards scheme. Nonsense app

### 5/5 — Seamless Migration from the Old App

*2026-08-09*

I was nervous to perform the switch to this new app from the old one. I clicked the link in my old app to start the process. I was automatically logged into the new one, I had to enter a few details and turned on basic charging to maintain charging on my schedule to make sure the charging only takes place in my cheap overnight hours. All my history had migrated from the old app. Very happy!

**Developer response:** Hi Rach, thank you, this made our day! Really glad the app's working well for you, and we appreciate you taking the time to share it. The Pod team

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2026-08-04, version 2.6.4*

Updated from pod point app, all charging history and WiFi settings migrated perfectly. No issues whatsoever, added two vehicles and charger knows which one is plugged in. Rewards are fantastic and dashboard is user friendly. Think most of the negative reviews are the users not the app.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2026-07-27, version 2.6.3*

Being paid to charge the car during off peak rates or at any time. What is there not to love?

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2026-07-13, version 2.5.1*

Never had any issues service is amazing and charger is great, all questions I had have been answered and always happy to help.

### 5/5 — Great improvement

*2026-06-04*

Can now earn rewards for your charging, but also able to return to basic charging for old scheduling

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review! We’re delighted to hear the app is working well for you and appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.

### 5/5 — Good now I know how to disable smart schedule.

*2026-05-22*

Need to click on your profile pic to switch to basic charging so does what I need for now until I get a different electricity tariff. Also easy to lock (turn off) when away from home.

### 5/5 — Basic but works

*2026-02-21*

The app is no frills but it gives you cash back and is straight forward all good.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review! We’re delighted to hear the app is working well for you and appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.

### 5/5 — Please bring back all existing features

*2025-12-24*

Worst ever thing to remove all good stuff. Please bring back all of the good stuff like schedule for charging, setting on/off of charging manually.

**Developer response:** Hello, thank you for your feedback. Smart Charging is designed to simplify your schedule, but we know some users miss having more control. Your feedback is helping us plan more flexible options, and our support team can help you make the most of the current settings — reach out at pod-drive-support@podenergy.com.

### 4/5 — It’s okay…

*2026-03-26*

Nice app compared to the original pod point app, I do however miss the function of being able to set how long you want a boost charge to last.

### 4/5 — Seems to work

*2026-01-23*

Despite all the comments I decided to try it, so far it’s working for me. I’ve got 3 different EV’s , Mercedes, VW and BMW and have had no issues. The cars are charged when I need them charged.

Is the app perfect, no, is it awful, no. Reading the feedback I’d suggest combining the two apps features. Allow users to set their own schedule OR have smart mode that automatically schedules to fit in with off peak charging times.
