### 3/5 — Disappointed

*2026-01-13*

Free users are supposed to be able to read the poem of the day (on the day only; we wouldn’t want free users to access more than one poem at a time, right?), but there are many times when I can’t even see the weeks poems, much less read the poem for the day. I consider free use to be an audition for an app. How an app treats its free users helps me decide if I want to pay for it. Why would I pay for an app that won’t provide free users with the bare minimum promised?

**Developer response:** My apologies. It can happen if I am late on setting up the schedule for the week. I will try to be more on top it!

### 3/5 — Library is limited

*2025-08-29, version 23.8*

This app has helped me to involve poetry in my daily life, which I love. But at times it feels more concerned about promoting new poets than it does about offering a robust library. Some favorite poets only have a few of their titles available. There is not a single poem by Maya Angelou. I am often going outside of the app to look up some pretty popular poems. If the app is literally just about poetry, it should have a larger library.

### 3/5 — Not what I was looking for

*2025-05-16, version 22.9*

It’s definitely just okay. I was hoping for a lot more variety. I’m happy to discover new as well as “classic” poetry, but a week straight of one poet is too much. (Especially since I didn’t care for them.) I’ll stick with it a bit longer but will probably delete it if next week isn’t better.

### 4/5 — Good enough app but nothing From Africa

*2025-05-05*

I really loved the UI of the app and the fact that it doubles as a social network.

However, I completed my subscription only to realise there are no African poets in their catalog.
I have tried looking up the most popular African poems only to come up empty.
Both the classics and the modern ones.

This is disappointing, to say the least

### 5/5 — Inspirational

*2025-02-04, version 22.9*

Thanks to apps like this, my poetry has been getting better, and I really love this app because you get daily different poems and poems that relate to what you like

### 5/5 — Great and simple

*2024-12-31, version 22.9*

It does its job. No annoying ads, no annoying paywall. Great app

### 5/5 — If you love poetry

*2024-12-26*

You can’t do better than this app, if you love poetry. I just love it.

### 4/5 — Well curated, inspiring, some UI issues

*2024-11-16*

This is a beautifully-curated poetry platform. The community aspects are there if you want them, or you can just enjoy reading poems.

There seems to be a highlight system but it is so unintuitive I have no idea how to do it, and I am very techy! One would expect to be able to simply select text and add to highlights, but you can’t. Also, when reading poems the UI should hide, there is a bit of UI clutter and seemingly no way to view poems full screen.

**Developer response:** Agreed that it would be great to revamp the highlighting feature. Right now it is just highlighting line by line, rather than selection. For full screen, you can tap the margin to expand and contract the poem.

### 5/5 — Great daily poetry app

*2024-11-15, version 22.9*

Great app for a convenient daily hit of poetry

### 5/5 — Best poetry app

*2024-11-11*

I love this and use it everyday. It’s not just its design, layout etc, but the features too. Like the poetry a day where your peer readers can leave comments, discuss the poem… it all adds to your appreciation of the poem. Each week a different poet’s poetry is featured. So over seven days you get a good idea of the poet’s background, approach and style. Beyond this one can easily search for a poet or a poem that one is looking for. There are also collections by emotions, themes etc if you like. And courses on certain periods/eras etc.

While all these features are valuable, I find the community interaction the most distinguishing.

### 5/5 — New Daily Routine

*2024-11-05, version 22.9*

Never was one to read poems, but the ease of access makes it extremely easy! And fun! :)

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2024-06-21, version 22.6*

I enjoy new poetry and I feel like I’ve found a new best friend to chat with each morning, a new net friend with intriguing poetry and insights. I encourage you to check it out.

### 4/5 — Bom

*2024-06-05*

É bom mas seria melhor ainda se tivesse em português!

### 4/5 — Love this app, but…

*2024-05-26*

I absolutely love this app, but I rated it 4 stars instead of 5. Only because I am completely blind, and some of the features are not accessible with screen reader. I use voiceover on an iPhone, and some of the buttons cannot be clicked on while using screen reader, and for some reason are not picked up or read by the voice over. it’s a bit frustrating to say the least. But other than that, it’s a very good app. Lots of great poetry on here and I love the fact that it is a interactive community where you can talk to other poets/poetry readers and discuss different poems. You can also record yourself, reciting the poems, listen to other peoples recordings, and post your own poetry and get feedback. So needless to say it is very useful. I only have one other suggestion other than for the app to be more accessible, and that is maybe to add a spot where you can add a personal bio to your profile. When I click on original Poems from other users, there is a spot to click where you can visit the persons profile. It says about the poet, but there is no spot for you to read anything about them. They’re also should be an option to add maybe what the poem is about when you post one of your original poems. It would be nice to be able to tell the community what inspired the poem when you wrote it or what it is supposed to be about. Just a suggestion though. I don’t know besides these, there are really no other suggestions to offer. It’s an awesome app and the pro membership is at a super affordable price of only $1.99 per month.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the comprehensive suggestions, Maranda. I apologize that the app is not built with all accessibility controls. Did you know it’s just me working on it? I’ve not yet learned how to build fully accessible apps, but I can promise to learn more and try to improve it a bit at a time. If you would email me with a few specific issues, I can begin tackling them.

Allowing a bio for our community poets is a great idea and something I will consider for the future.

### 4/5 — It’s actually a good poetry app

*2024-05-19, version 22.6*

A little community of people who like to read poems. It’s lovely

### 5/5 — lovely

*2024-05-19, version 22.6*

it’s wonderful to wake up and read poetry in the morning without having to go find it. plus I get a little bit of the social media dopamine with this without all of the jealousy etc.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Permissions

*2026-02-13, version 24.4*

I was excited to give this app a try, downloaded, and for got to look at the permissions. I don’t like when apps ask for way more than they need to function, so they can collect and potentially sell my information. My search continues.

### 1/5 — It says it has free components but doesn’t

*2025-10-20, version 23.8*

The app says multiple places that you can read the daily selection for free everyday but after a week if you don’t pay it locks all poems. Very disappointing don’t recommend

### 1/5 — How many subscription services can we really be expected to pay for?

*2023-02-26*

This app has tons of poems and nice features and that's great- not saying upfront on your downloads page that evrything but the daiky poem will be inacessible to you if you don't pay a subscription fee is NOT great.

### 1/5 — Yikes. Why charge a subscription to ancient poems in the public domain??

*2022-02-06, version 19.99*

I was excited by the concept of this app and subscribed without much thought, but on closer review I’ve found the app disappointing and a total scam. All of the poems featured have been absolutely decrepit. “Classic” is polite. It is one thing if the developer(s) were featuring contemporary or actually exciting classical works, but all the poems here just seemed to be randomized poems in the public domain and shared without much consideration or thought. I’d love to subscribe to a poetry app that is made for and by people who actually like poetry but this is not it!

### 1/5 — No user control

*2021-07-15*

Theres no user control.
Just scrolling down when reading a poem, it tries to turn the page and even if i dont let that happen, it still immediately returns to the top of the page, losing my place.
I feel i have limited control with it.
I want to delete my account - wheres the option?
Theres a constant reminder at the top saying youre using a free version, subscribe. Its always there.
You get a prompting question about fhe poem. I just want to read poems not be at school. This app is trying to facilitate discussion.

**Developer response:** 1) We've been doing account deletion based on email requests but we actually just added a button for this in the latest update! So from now on you can find that in your profile settings.
2) Sorry about the scrolling sensitivity - it is something we will continue to work on.
3) As for facilitating discussion... well, for now that is one of the main purposes of Poesie and partly why we created the app! Sorry to hear it doesn't work for you. Maybe in the future we can create a usage mode which is less focused on discussion.

Appreciate the feedback. Feel free to email us if you have any questions.

### 1/5 — What the !!!!

*2021-07-14, version 19.78*

Why does a poetry app need to know my location ?!?!?
Looked at the privacy settings, oh my !!
This is just a front to literally siphon away your private data, and Apple say it’s their favourite app of the day!!!!
What the hell is this !!!!
I thought Apple were on our side.

What are they doing with my private information?

### 2/5 — Why are all the recommendations men?

*2025-12-22, version 24.3*

Since joining this app they haven’t recommended a single woman poet. I was waiting to purchase anything until I saw enough poems I liked. Sure, a few were good, some were blah, and not a single one was by or appreciating women. Not buying.

### 2/5 — Good idea, bad execution

*2025-06-13, version 22.9*

I won’t pay money to share my thoughts without even being allowed to properly convey them. We can only use old artwork to backround our poetry and the whole app follows stereotypes whilst poetry a form of expression as is any other form of art therefor is should not be limited by the companies vision

### 2/5 — Paywall won’t allow free daily poem

*2022-12-23, version 22.3*

Have no idea what happened since the last update was three months ago and I’ve been reading the poem a day but this morning I can’t read the daily poem nor access my favorites without obtaining a subscription. Out of the blue without warning. Each and every time I get a lockscreen that wants a subscription to access the poem. Is this a glitch? Can you please correct this?

### 2/5 — Deleting

*2021-08-30, version 19.83*

I really enjoyed this app. Until I learned I’d have to pay if I wanted to read more poems. Weak. I’ll just use google I guess. ✌🏽

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2026-06-02, version 24.5*

Gave me so much deeper a love a poetry, and a new amazing part of my morning routine

### 5/5 — Almost as good as Shakespeare’s sonnets

*2026-03-23*

This is the best app I’ve come across for poetry, including and excepting the one that helps you learn Shakespeare’s sonnets. Poesie mixes up, alternating weekly, historical and contemporary poetry. And you even get the chance to upload your own.

### 5/5 — Great

*2026-03-10, version 24.5*

Amazing app to incorporate poetry into daily life, thank you for your work !!!!

### 5/5 — Nice app

### 5/5 — Wow

*2025-11-21, version 23.8*

Genuinely, one of my favorite apps. If you love poetry or, like me, have always wanted to get into poetry, then this is the app for you.

### 5/5 — Poesie

*2025-08-21*

I have tried a lot of different apps for poetry and this is by far my favorite one. The community is amazing and very supportive of other poets. It has wonderful features that connect you further into poetry, like voice recordings from you or others, and the option to share your own written work. It is laid out in a way that makes sense and has all the information you need to make it a better experience. Poesie is a place to get away and connect with poetry.

### 5/5 — Fell in love slowly

*2025-08-15, version 23.7*

Fell in love slowly
Reading poems every day.
I recommend it.

### 5/5 — Great App. One of its kind.

*2025-07-11*

It’s a must have app.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2025-06-06, version 22.9*

Nice and simple and I love being able to hear the poems read out loud

### 5/5 — Better than social media

*2025-03-02, version 22.9*

I deleted my social media and downloaded this instead. I’ve been much happier and more fulfilled.
