## What is Poetry?

Poetry is a quiet place to write, shape and share poems on iPhone and iPad. Find the right rhyme, hear the rhythm of every line, keep each draft and gather your finished work into a chapbook. The poetry tools work offline, so the next line can come anywhere.

• Find the word you're listening for. Word Explorer suggests rhymes and near rhymes in English, Spanish, Italian, German and French. Show common words first or sort alphabetically, filter by syllable count and preview a word in your line before you use it. In English, you can also browse synonyms and related words.

• Hear your poem on the page. In those five languages, Rhythm View estimates the syllables in each line, and you can adjust how a word is counted. Sound and Repetition highlights repeated words, alliteration, assonance and end rhymes.

• Write in any form. Optional guides for free verse, haiku, the English sonnet and the villanelle show line targets, stanza groups, rhyme letters and repeating lines. A guide never changes your poem.

• Shape lines and stanzas. See line and stanza counts, set stanza spacing and mark the line breaks you intend. Drag stanzas into a new order, with their formatting and notes. Keep alternate versions of a line or stanza and switch between them with a tap.

• Never lose a good line. Save phrases to Fragments and reuse them in any poem. Tag them, star your favorites and search them. Fragments sync with iCloud and stay available offline.

• Revise with confidence. Save named drafts, see which lines changed, and restore one passage or the whole draft. Add private revision notes to a line or stanza; they never appear in exports. Drafts sync with iCloud too.

• Rehearse your reading. Read and Rehearse gives you a clean reading copy with pause, breath and emphasis marks, plus a timer. Listen with read-aloud voice and speed controls, or record yourself and play it back while you revise.

• Get past the blank page. Writing Prompts offer short exercises. Write a response and save it to Fragments without touching the poem you have open.

• From poems to a chapbook. Combine poems, saved drafts and imported text files, arrange them into sections, preview the result and export it as PDF, RTF, RTFD or Word (DOCX). Track your submissions with the publication, date, status, notes and an exact copy of the draft you sent.

• A complete writing app. Format text with fonts, styles and lists, write in Typewriter Mode, count your words and find and replace. Open Markdown and plain-text files, write by hand with Apple Pencil, mark up PDFs with highlights, comments and signatures, and scan paper drafts. Keep everything in folders and tabs, search your library and store it in iCloud Drive.

• AI Assistant. Chat about an idea, explain a passage, or rewrite, correct, summarize and translate selected text. Included with a subscription.

• Start with the classics. Example poems and sample books by John Keats and William Blake are ready to read when you open the app.

Ready for iOS 27 and iPhone Duo.

### 1/5 — it sucks???

*2026-04-20*

first thing that happens when you open the app is a stupid pop up of their stupid ai assistant subscription that doesn’t go away nor does it let me click off it. ‘poetry, try it for free’ likely story.

*2026-01-09*

Immer wenn ich die App öffne wird mir eine Kaufoption angezeigt, um alles zu nutzen. Ich habe ja nichtmal die Grundlinie gesehen, da dieses Fenster einfach nicht weg geht. Wischen, drücken nichts klappt.

Echt schade. Wollte meine Gedichte digitalisieren…
