Used to work. Agree with many other comments that reliability and functionality has actually declined over the years. Just removed the "free" cloud storage. Okay. Fine. However, I bought a PogoPlug unit and expect that to work as it was described. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. File access is slow and unreliable. Currently locked out because the software isn't recognizing my password. Frustrating. ### 2/5 — NO PICTURES *2017-01-08, version 5.5.14* I can't seem to find any of my pictures via remote with my iPhone 7 plus. I have reloaded the software and app, still no photos found. Hopefully an update can be ran to fix. I have been using since about 2013 and it worked well not sure what happened this time ### 1/5 — Even paid plan not honored *2016-09-26, version 5.5.14* I paid for additional service, and still they are shutting down access and erasing all my files this week. They won't let me download files I've stored, so they will be lost forever. I have been promised an alternate service for no additional money, but it doesn't work. I sent an email and it said someone will get back to me in like 7 days or sown thing absurd like that. Don't spend your money on pogo plug. ### 1/5 — Files are gone *2016-08-31, version 5.5.14* I can't really say anything bad about the app. It has been fine. I've had a paid subscription to Pogoplug since 2013. I logged into my account 2 days ago only to find that all but one video and about 20-30 photos out of 86gb worth of photos and videos are gone. My account is paid up through the end of September. I've emailed support and have gotten no response except for an auto response letting me know they've received my email. I'm seeing others are having the same issue. I do see there is still an order page to purchase cloud storage. I strongly recommend you search elsewhere. I did have most, if not nearly all of my files backed up elsewhere, though one of those backup hard drives has apparently gotten a virus from my work computer and I can't access anything. Please always back up to multiple sources and where the computer/web will not have constant access to those files. I thought I was protecting myself well having things backed up to cloud storage, external hard drive and my home computer. ### 1/5 — Pogoplug is the worst!! *2016-08-08, version 5.5.14* I trusted this company with backing up my photos and I've lost a significant amount of important and close to heart photos that can't ever be replaced! Worst mistake I ever made is downloading this stupid app and entrusting my photos with them! They should go out of business and pull the "plug" forever because everything about this company is trash and BS!! ### 2/5 — Would be great if more reliable *2016-08-03, version 5.5.14* DO NOT store your only copy of anything important on here, but If you want to risk using pogoplug (app or desktop) for non crucial large files, the price is good for unlimited. A lot of the time it works fine. But files will sometimes be lost, service sometimes goes down for long periods, uploaded files will sometimes be corrupted/blank. They offered me a year free in exchange for losing a lot of my business files. The app itself is better designed than the site, however sometimes both do not work and you cannot upload anything. It's the service, not the app. ### 1/5 — Remarkably disappointing *2016-07-27, version 5.5.14* I used to be able to access all of my pictures on my pogo plug device. Now, my pogo plug device doesn't even show up on this application! This application wants access to all of my contacts. Why does it need access to my contacts? It never had before! Super disappointing! ### 1/5 — Horrible app! *2016-07-24, version 5.5.14* Had hundreds of photos and videos of my kids stored on their system. Hadn't accessed my files in a few months and low and behold they got rid of all my files! Learned a valuable lesson to not trust an app company to save important pictures and videos and just cut them out all together and buy external hard drives to store everything! Thanks a lot ### 1/5 — Do Not Download! *2016-06-29, version 5.5.14* I started using this service a couple of years ago thinking it is was amazing but over the past year or so the app has gone way down. They lost a significant amount of my photos. Whole months are missing. If you try to download your photos they limit you to a 100 with no bulk way to group and download. You have to manually click each photo and manually save. It took me days to download photos that I didn't have already on a separate hard drive. This is supposed to be a backup service but it is anything but. They want you to upload your photos and be stuck paying for their service if you don't have those photos somewhere else. ### 1/5 — Terrible service photos lost forever *2016-06-02, version 5.5.14* Contacted them about not being able to see or access my photos. I had a 20GB for free plan. Was told that they were suspended last June and that all of my backed up photos were gone. The problem is that I was able to upload and download photos just a few weeks ago. Shady company with shady practices. ### 1/5 — Garbage *2016-05-29, version 5.5.14* Both app and service are nonsense. Was promised 20gb "for life" as a promotion a few years ago when I purchased a camera. With no email or warning, the service recently deleted all my files on the cloud account. I emailed them and they responded much later saying free accounts had been ended since last summer, which isn't true, since I was freely accessing them mere weeks ago. That was the end of customer service so they were of no help whatsoever. Even when the account worked, this app is buggy as hell. Be wary. ### 1/5 — Worst Cloud Experience EVER!!!!!! *2016-05-23, version 5.5.14* This is not only app review. The problem is mostly with the cloud. But even the app has flows. The most interesting part is: I was able to delete all broken links and now I can see I have no files/photos/items of any kind in the cloud, but the main screen shows 11% used, when I see it through the browser and 12% through the app, while both should show 0% usage. ### 1/5 — They lost years of my photos and videos *2016-05-19, version 5.5.14* How do I give negative stars? This horrific site with canned customer service responses lost years of my family photos and videos. Then they say that I either inadvertently deleted years of files or that I never uploaded them in the first place. I am devastated by this horrible experience. ### 1/5 — Worst support ever *2016-05-17, version 5.5.14* Don't do it. Don't trust these people with your money or data. Stay as far as away from these people as possible. I log on to my account and bam, all my data was gone. Email support and stupid guys just says "We discontinue service. Case closed." Open another ticket "Where is my data?" "We discontinue service. Case closed." Can’t even log on their web interface anymore. They do even respond to email support. Thank God I never stored anything on their cloud. I only used their app and website to log on to my Seagate network drive to remotely access my files and share files with friends. I’m surprised they have a website up just to scam people. ### 1/5 — Unreliable *2017-12-11, version 5.5.14* I have used for several years. At first it was great. But- the past year or so it has become VERY unreliable. At times doesn't recognize my drive, slow to retrieve files, and recently the logon failed. UPDATE-Dec 2017. Cannot access my files. I have a Pogoplug device with storage attached. Support keeps referring me to their help data base. I have had these issues before-it’s on their end. I pay for this service. Going to cancel and find a more reliable service. ### 1/5 — Not really working ;( scam. Don’t use *2017-11-20, version 5.5.14* UPDATE***** I bought a physical hardware device back in about 2009 then bought a Lifetime Unlimited Cloud storage plan. I’ve had troubles ever since PogoPlug switched to software/Cloud based storage. Only small pieces of my data is there. The company keeps telling me I need to subscribe even though I bought a lifetime unlimited plan. Cost a lot too. Can’t access my pics. 3/4 of my stuff isn’t showing up. I can only log in occasionally. I can’t recommend this company, nor this app. I think it’s a scam. Don’t use it. You’ll be sorry like I am —————————- Original post I was hoping the reviews were wrong however they seem to be right. The app doesnt seem to work very well and when it does, it is VERY slow. I have my Pogoplug box hard wired to a T1 connection. I am trying to view small Jpegs but it either takes forever to display or I get a connection error. I have tried viewing on iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad 1 & 2 also on my Pc and MacBook pro. Not a lot of luck. Great idea tho. I hope the developers fix all this soon. It would be a great device. Also none of the people I have shared files, pics, or movies with have been able to view ANY of the files. Sad. Please fix and I'll change my rating. Only reason I gave it 3 stars instead of 1 is a few times I did get it to work and it was great, slow still, but great. A Lot of potential!!! But not there yet ### 1/5 — Pogoplug access stopped working *2017-03-03, version 5.5.14* I have Pogoplug 4s that I have been using for years to back up our iPhone photos. Other than the irritating occasional Pogoplug service interruptions (or worn out USB hard drives) the devices have worked very well. A couple of days ago I have been unable to access content through any of the three Pogoplug 4 devices. ### 1/5 — Pogoplug is dead, avoid at all costs *2017-01-19, version 5.5.14* Pogoplug (at least all of their current consumer services) is 100% dead. Fortunately, I was a user of one of their devices, and not a cloud user. My device became a useless brick. Cloud users, who paid for storage with them, lost everything they had in the Pogoplug cloud if they didn't get it downloaded quickly enough when they announced their complete shutdown as a surprise in late 2016. Stay far away from Pogoplug for all your cloud and or local storage needs. It is either a worthless, unreliable, incompetent company, or a completely defunct company that just hasn't announced it's going under yet. Or both. ### 1/5 — Broken Again!!!!! *2017-01-04, version 5.5.14* The current version is completely broken with no remote access. It looks like they are forcing me to a subscription but cannot tell for sure. Bottom line is you cannot trust that you will have access to your files. Also if there was any history of reliability it might be different but there has not been one. Argh.... ### 1/5 — Pass *2017-01-01, version 5.5.14* Service has declined terrible over the years. I have a pogo plug V.4 and it won't even recognize my 1tb HDD anymore. It's been running fine for years and then it just stopped. I plug my HDD into my Mac and it sees the drive just fine and my files are still there but as soon as I plug back into pogo it doesn't see anything. Terrible. ### 1/5 — PogoPlug does not keep its word *2016-12-24, version 5.5.14* PogoPlug told me that I would have lifetime access to its remote access but the key was never provided. Sent at least 5 emails but no one responded. Sad, would not even respond. Will contact better business bureau, the remote access was to make up for my purchase of the cloud. I paid for 3 years & then they cancelled it. ### 1/5 — The worst app! SHAME *2016-10-19, version 5.5.14* This app used to work great on my phone. All of a sudden it stopped working and it has been days and I still couldn't get a response from their so called tech support not to mention that there is not even one live person a real phone number or a communication channel. Don't invest in this. Waste of time and money! And now they are ending the service but still charging money! Bizzare! Hate it! Stay away from this so called company! UNPROFESSIONAL!!! ### 1/5 — Outraged! *2016-10-16, version 5.5.14* ALL MY FILES ARE GONE! I've paid and used this service for three years now. I didn't have any problems until August 2016. It stopped backing up my photos. I emailed them with a problem 3 times. NO RESPONSE! I uninstalled and reinstalled, now 3 years of photos are completely gone! Do not use or pay for this storage. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — It's back up and looks good as of Jan 12, 2017 *2017-01-13, version 5.5.14* I really like pogoplug for iphone, iPad to backup photos to your own drives ( personal cloud). For Windows and Mac users, the backups are real time, background, and user defined. I have some directories that I always want to have backed up, all the time, and this is the ONLY program I've found that does it. I thought Cloud Engines was shutting down in December 2016, and was very disappointed. I'm glad their system is back. Support Cloud Engines, or whoever is maintaining the Pogoplug service!! Great program. ### 5/5 — Wonderful online backup without breaking your wallet..!! *2016-11-17, version 5.5.14* The previous version of the App was much preliminary with frequent shutdowns and failure. But the latest version is much better and syncing consistently. I would definitely recommend it. ### 5/5 — Memories Savings *2016-06-11, version 5.5.14* Having this app was a memory saver. Such a magnificent thing to learn that my beautiful pictures, my memories they cannot be replaced were saved after another app lost all my pictures from many years ago. Loses some of my pictures too. And you have to back it using different function before you can download back to ipad. They didn't tell me that. Also no slideshow. Still no slideshow. I had been using since 2009 or 2010. I have my Hard drive attached to the pogoplug device. I don't even know how many times use this in a day!! I'm so very much depend on this. It's highly recommend...
