## What is PointJar?

PointJar is a family points game: your child earns points for completed chores and good behaviour and trades them for rewards you agreed on. No nagging, no fridge charts — everything runs in the app and parents always have the final say.

The app is free, with no ads, no tracking and no subscription; the only in-app purchase is a voluntary contribution towards running it. Tasks and rewards are inspired by research on child motivation. Try the demo without signing in.

HOW IT WORKS
• Your child taps a finished task — you get a notification
• You approve with OK or decline with X — points are added automatically
• Kids request rewards from the shop — approved by you as well
• The child's level only ever grows — motivation stays high

FOR PARENTS
• Your own catalogue of tasks and rewards (a starter list is included)
• Deductions with a daily cap — the balance never drops below zero
• Undo mistakes within 24 hours, a full history of every point
• A second parent has the same rights as you, grandparents watch; everyone joins with a code or by e-mail
• Several children in one family, each with their own points and goal

FOR KIDS
• Their own screen with a wallet, a goal and a shop
• Kids take back a task or reward request tapped by mistake
• The goal reward fills up with every point saved
• Celebration animations for reached goals and new levels

FAMILY-SAFE
• Every family sees only its own data
• Nobody can enter a family without a code from a parent
• Apple or Google sign-in, no extra passwords

Available in English, German, Czech and Slovak — every family member picks their own language. Try the demo right from the welcome screen, no account needed.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.7.1 — 2026-10-29

Setting up a family is more straightforward: the parent's name is pre-filled with the first name, with several children the app tells you when one could not be added, and when adding another member it first asks whether you have written the code down. Screen titles no longer wrap to two lines, hints disappear once you know the ropes, and with four or more children the tiles wrap neatly. More reliable sign-out and bug fixes.

### 1.7.0 — 2026-10-26

The app loads more reliably when you come back to it while the network is still reconnecting. Better layout with large text and simpler adding of tasks and rewards in the Catalog. Ready for iOS 27 and new Android versions. Bug fixes.

### 1.6.10 — 2026-10-22

On iPhone with iOS 26 the bottom bar and the switches (Child / Parent / Family, Catalogue, Rules, points sign) have a glass lens that glides to the selected item and magnifies what is under it. After you decide the last card in Approve, the card leaves and the All done view stays with a Decided today list, where a decision can be undone within 24 hours. Android: a smaller and faster app thanks to code optimisation. Bug fixes.

### 1.6.9 — 2026-10-19

On iPad, tablets and Mac the app uses two columns: tabs in a side panel, lists next to summaries, and a family member's details as a panel on the right. With a keyboard, shortcuts work: Cmd+1 to 5 switch tabs, Tab switches the Parent/Child view, Enter and Delete decide in Approve, arrows move between cards and Z undoes a decision; hold Cmd to see the list. On Android the notification icon now uses the app colour. Bug fixes.

### 1.6.8 — 2026-10-13

Dark mode: choose Light, Dark or Match system in Account. Parents get a new History tab like the child's, by day and including rejected tasks, where they can play and delete voice messages. Cards in Approve are easier to swipe. The welcome screen has an option for a child with their own account. When your sign-in expires, the app takes you straight to sign-in. Bug fixes.
