## What is PointJar?

PointJar is a family points game: your child earns points for completed chores and good behaviour and trades them for rewards you agreed on. No nagging, no fridge charts — everything runs in the app and parents always have the final say.

The app is free, with no ads and no tracking. Tasks and rewards are built on established international research on child motivation. Try the demo without signing in.

HOW IT WORKS
• Your child taps a finished task — you get a notification
• You approve with OK or decline with X — points are added automatically
• Kids request rewards from the shop — approved by you as well
• The child's level only ever grows — motivation stays high

FOR PARENTS
• Your own catalogue of tasks and rewards (a starter list is included)
• Deductions with a daily cap — the balance never drops below zero
• Undo mistakes within 24 hours, a full history of every point
• A second parent or grandparents join with a one-time code

FOR KIDS
• Their own screen with a wallet, a goal and a shop
• The goal reward fills up with every point saved
• Celebration animations for reached goals and new levels

FAMILY-SAFE
• Every family sees only its own data
• Nobody can enter a family without a code from a parent
• Google sign-in, no extra passwords

Available in English, German, Czech and Slovak — every family member picks their own language. Try the demo right from the welcome screen, no account needed.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.5.5 — 2026-09-11

Every kid now really has their own: invite a second kid by e-mail and they get their own profile and their own points. When inviting, you see which kids are free and when a new one will be created. The welcome screen is shorter, with the studies tucked into a What the research says section. If something fails, the error appears right by the button. When a member leaves the family, the others are notified. Renaming a kid now applies everywhere.

### 1.5.4 — 2026-09-10

The family grows with you: a second parent has the same rights as the founder, there can be several children and you switch between them. The Family tab shows invitation status, lets you resend or cancel invitations and remove a child (history is kept). Notifications by category, quiet hours for reminders and an in-app notification archive. Record points? confirmation for direct entries, reserved points while a reward is pending, your own name. The welcome e-mail arrives once you join a family.

### 1.5.0 — 2026-09-08

What's in this release:

• notifications for the whole family: goal reached, new level, new member (viewers too); reminders to parents about pending approvals after 4, 10 and 18 hours
• notification archive "What happened recently" on the child's and parent's screen, the whole family under Admin → Changes
• e-mail invitation with confirmation; the link in the e-mail opens the app directly (Universal Links / App Links)
• Baloo 2 typeface instead of Fredoka (č ľ ť ď ň ř ě ů were missing), icon unified with iOS
• family time zone taken from the parent's phone; "today" and daily limits start at the same midnight as the database
• badge and notification tray are cleared when the app opens
• updated guide and legal texts (effective 7 September 2026)
• security fixes

### 1.4.0 (27) — 2026-09-06

Kids pick their own avatar from 40 characters; parents can change it.
Tasks are grouped into categories that expand with a tap.
After creating a family, the app helps you add the child, the other parent and a viewer: with a code or an account e-mail that joins automatically.
Invitations include a download link and the code fills in by itself on the new device.
New screen Why PointJar exists, with the studies behind tasks and rewards.
Better layout with large text, support on every screen.

### 1.3.3 (26) — 2026-09-05

A more playful child screen and a faster way to what just happened.
- A jar that really fills up: when points arrive, the level jumps and settles with a bounce. The balance counts up, task boxes and reward cards hop.
- Gentle vibrations on tap, on new points and on big celebrations.
- Back to School Challenge: a welcome on first launch, a distinct progress card and a permanent badge once completed.
- Tapping a notification or the dot opens the right screen and highlights the item it is about.
