## What is Poise?

Poise is a puzzle about balance.

Weights hang from a mobile — the kind Calder made — and your job is to hang them
so that every beam comes level. There is one rule, and this is all of it:

WEIGHT × DISTANCE, equal on both sides of every pivot.

That is the whole game. Everything else is learning to see it quickly.

A LADDER THAT ACTUALLY CLIMBS
120 levels across eight stages, each one harder than the last in a way you can
feel. Three weights and one beam to start. By the end: six weights, beams
hanging off beams, and boards that look solved when they are not.

THE TRAP THAT MAKES IT A PUZZLE
A beam balances on the ratio of its arms — so more than one pair of weights can
balance it. But the beam above cares about the TOTAL those weights make, not
just that they balance. So a beam can hang perfectly level and still be wrong,
and a tilted top beam usually means a lump of the wrong size further down. Every
board has exactly one answer, which means you never have to guess.

HINTS THAT TEACH
Free, unlimited, and three steps deep. The first says where to look. The second
says how to read it. The third names what is actually wrong. None of them place
a weight for you, because on a board this tightly constrained, one placement
gives away the rest — and you would learn nothing for the next board.

A BONUS PUZZLE EVERY DAY
Harder than anything on the ladder, and a new one every day.

BUILT TO BE QUIET
No ads. No purchases. No account. No timer unless you ask for one. It never
touches the network, so it works on a plane, and it collects nothing about you
at all. Your progress follows your Apple Account to your other iPhones.

Made for people who like the moment a thing clicks into place.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.2 — 2026-09-08

The bonus board now refreshes by itself. Leave the app open overnight and
today's board is waiting when you come back — no need to close and reopen it.

Swipe right inside a stage to return to the stage list.

Bigger weights on crowded boards, so the numbers stay readable.

A new app icon.

### 1.1 — 2026-09-05

A clearer game.

- A beam that comes level now marks itself in green, drawn as you get it
right, and catches the light every few seconds afterwards. It used to be
red, the same colour the app uses for "look here", which was backwards.
- Hints are better. One of them could point at the top beam and tell you what
the beam above it needed, which made no sense: the top beam hangs from the
ceiling. It now always names a beam you can actually do something about.
- You can dismiss a hint. There was no way to put one away once you had asked.
- Swipe between Stages, Bonus, Settings and How to Play.
- Clearing the board keeps your move count. You are still on the same attempt.
