## What is Poker Skill?

Learn Texas Hold'em the way you'd learn an instrument: a few minutes of real practice a day.

Poker Skill gives you short, guided lessons built around real decisions, then a daily puzzle to test your instincts. Every answer gets coaching, so you know why a play works, not just whether you got it right.

No wagering. No real money. Just poker, taught one hand at a time.

What you'll practice:
- Texas Hold'em fundamentals, position, and table dynamics
- Preflop decisions you can trust
- Pot odds, outs, and equity without the math headache
- Bluffing and hand reading as you improve

Short sessions, streaks, and visible progress make it easy to stay with it. Start from zero, or fix the leaks in a game you already have.

### 3/5 — Ok

*2026-08-30*

Good idea. However it is hard to understand what to do sometimes as the language used to help is strange

**Developer response:** Honestly, thank you. "The language used to help is strange" is the most useful thing anyone has told me this month. You are right: the hints name poker concepts instead of telling you what to do next. I just rewrote a bunch of that wording and it lands in the next update, which also adds a flag icon next to glossary terms. Tap it on anything that reads badly and I will fix it myself.

### 4/5 — Great Strategy

*2026-08-25*

I have been playing online Holdem tournaments and wasn’t improving. I spent a couple hours on this app and placed 2nd on the next tournament! I won 30 times my buy-in. The app taught me a whole new strategy that just kept working.

**Developer response:** Second place and 30x your buy-in after a couple of hours in the app is an incredible result. Strategy that keeps working under real tournament pressure is exactly what we want the lessons to build. Congrats on the finish, and good luck in the next one!

### 5/5 — Top

*2026-08-22*

Top

**Developer response:** Top é exatamente o que a gente quer ouvir! Somos um time pequeno trabalhando rápido, então vem mais por aí. Boa sorte na mesa!

### 5/5 — Great!

*2026-08-18, version 2.1.38*

Best app for quick learning!

### 3/5 — Great premise, execution could be improved

*2026-07-15*

I love the idea of the app, but there are a few things that I think could do with improvement. The idea of a poker app similar to Duolingo is genuinely great, I downloaded it literally the first ad I saw for it, and the lessons genuinely are informative. I’m not a poker pro so I can’t exactly speak on the entire validity of the strategies presented in the app but in the online micro stakes games I’ve played these do work. However, there are a few things I think could be improved. For one, I think that being required to finish every lesson prior to the next mixed with the energy system just makes it kind of miserable for anyone choosing to use the free version of the app (especially if you did not pick the correct level), but I do understand that it pushes people to want to try the plus version so it makes sense. I think that doing away with one of these things for free users would retain a lot more people. Also just a little nitpicky but personally I find the speed at which the text shows up in a lesson is kind of annoying with how slow it is. Would be perfect if there was a setting where you could change the speed of the animation or disable the animation entirely and just have the text pop up.

**Developer response:** Love that you gave us a shot off the first ad and that the lessons are holding up in real micro stakes games. Two tips that should help: you can test forward to skip past lessons you already know (big if you picked the wrong starting level), and tapping while the text is typing makes it appear instantly. The energy system feedback on free is fair and it's with the team. Keep building those skills.

### 3/5 — New Interface Sucks

*2026-07-03*

I loved using this app and was on a pretty long streak. But they updated the playing interface to have AI generated characters and look like a real table instead of the minimalistic cartoon setup they had going on. It’s so much harder to track what’s happening with the new interface, the UI is broken on my phone, and it overheats my phone now after like one puzzle for some reason. They did some kind of AI slop update to the app. Would love to have the old app back. Biggest problem is honestly my phone heating up I can’t use the app anymore.

**Developer response:** Your phone overheating after one puzzle is not normal — that's a real performance problem, not a taste thing, and it's being worked on as part of a bigger rework. On the new table look: fair callout. We rebuilt it to feel more like a real table, but if it's harder to track the action, that defeats the point. We're a small team shipping updates every week — keep watching, and that streak will be worth restarting.

### 5/5 — A++

*2026-06-26, version 2.1.21*

I am learning so much and love the process. Highly recommended.

### 5/5 — Very good; would recommend to anyone

*2026-06-19*

Let me start this by saying that I was a complete fish before installing this app. I thought I knew about poker, but I didn’t. This app has so many specific scenarios, which gives you experience for real tables. The breakdowns are very detailed and do a very good job of explaining when to make a certain play and why. The terminology they use is techy, but not too niche that it becomes a foreign language. Overall, I would recommend this to literally anyone who is starting to become serious about Texas hold ‘em poker.

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for sharing this! Really glad the scenarios and breakdowns are helping real-table decisions click. We built Poker Skill for exactly that jump from learning the terms to knowing what to do at the table. Keep building those skills.

### 5/5 — Pretty good, uses AI art though.

*2026-06-10*

The app is pretty much the Duolingo of poker. My only complaint is the avatar is AI generated which makes the app look cheap.

**Developer response:** Really appreciate this. Duolingo of poker is the learning feel we are aiming for, and fair callout on the avatar looking cheap. The art should make Poker Skill feel more polished, not pull you out of it.

### 1/5 — Confusing

*2026-06-05*

I’ve played poker but wth are these questions they don’t explain anything properly like what do you mean rank and letter mean rank ect it’s genuinely insanity and make it more confusing then it needs to be

**Developer response:** Yeah, if the wording makes basic poker terms feel more confusing, that is a real miss. Rank, suits, and card labels should be explained plainly, not like a puzzle before the lesson even starts.
