You can turn off the volume on the Account page (bottom right tab in the lobby) by pulling the volume lever to 0. ### 4/5 — Great app, a bit expensive *2024-07-09* Bug report: the pot odds exercise got stuck such that the villain always bet 2 chips on a pot of 24 chips. This turned the exercise into “press 7% as quickly as you can”. **Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback and the bug report! The issue with Odds Trainer getting stuck is fixed and released (4.2.4). ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Dumb *2026-07-12* This might be the dumbest app ever invented. One could only hope to play against someone who follows this raise/call/fold chart. **Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback! I you ever try your luck online, you will face many opponents who are playing close to optimal preflop ranges already at the microstakes and your wish will come true. ### 1/5 — Just Wrong Stuff *2026-04-27* I had a royal flush draw and bet the flop, opponent called. Then bet the turn and faced an at least 8x jam and the app told me to call as a semi-bluff. I mean like what the hell. Way to tell me this is a scam. **Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback! There is a bug in the explanations when facing an all-in bet postflop. It takes text from a bet/raise scenario and just replaces it with call, which doesn't make any sense. The bug has been fixed and the fix is included in the next release. ### 1/5 — Steals money *2025-07-30* I had downloaded the app and used the free trial, I disliked it and deleted the app. Two months later after I finally added my card to my account I was charged 60 bucks for a year long subscription. They denied my refund. Don’t download or pay anythinggggg!!!! **Developer response:** We’re sorry to hear about your experience. We want to clarify that subscriptions and billing are handled by Apple, and charges occur if the free trial isn’t canceled before it ends. Apple’s system will process the payment to the method on file at that time. Unfortunately, we don’t have the ability to issue refunds, but you can request one through Apple Support: https://support.apple.com/billing. Thank you for giving Poker Trainer a try. ### 2/5 — Insufficient *2026-02-23* While this is a fun little game to get introduced to some very basic concepts, it is lacking the range detail which results in training to be TOO tight. For example, with 100BB, in UTG+1, facing an UTG open, one may call sometimes with pocket 9s; this app demands a fold in that spot. With > 100BB, set mining can be profitable in this spot, if played properly post flop. **Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback! In our MTT ranges, 99 vs UTG open from UTG+1 is a call. In our cash-game (NL50) ranges, it’s a fold. The main reasons are rake and no ante, which make calls less profitable than in an MTT. The ranges in the app are GTO or GTO-based, so they assume tough opponents and a meaningful risk of facing 3-bets, which tightens up some preflop decisions compared to soft live games. ### 2/5 — Pay Wall *2025-12-11* Expect nothing for free. You get a few hands, but if you want to sit for a bit and learn, expect to pay for a subscription. **Developer response:** Thanks for the review! Some things are for free and without limitations: - Hand Ranking Trainer - Best Hand Trainer - Odds Trainer - Range Viewer - Odds Calculator - Beginner Tutorials For Preflop Trainer and Postflop Trainer, the number of free hands has a daily limit. But you can still practice a bit every day in those as well if you like. ### 2/5 — Error? *2025-02-26* Maybe I’m just too new/clueless about poker, but there seems to be an error in the FIRST example in the intro to poker section…the text description of the cards on the board does not match the picture. If you have any questions as you learn, I’m happy to help. ### 3/5 — You keep making it worse, probably thinking you’re making it better *2026-06-23* What the heck did you do to the training setup page?… Why do you keep messing with it?… I’m trying to learn but I’m spending most of the time figuring out how to set up my parameters. Unfortunately that makes the settings a bit more complicated. We try to keep it as simple as possible, but if you have suggestions on how to simplify it, they are most welcome at support@pokertrainer.se! ### 3/5 — Some of the decisions are questionable *2026-01-27* This is great to teach a grind game, but honestly, i question when it tells me to call an all-in check raise from ep3 with a flush on the board and I’m holding a straight. I dont think thats realistic in a 2/5 cash game especially with questionable equity. So it has some holes. **Developer response:** Sorry for late response, I missed this! I don't know the exact scenario, but in GTO (game theory optimal) play, a straight is a clear call in most scenarios against an EP3 check-raise all-in on the turn, even with 3 flush cards on the board. If the opponent is playing anywhere near optimal they will have a lot of hands that are not flushes. It might however be a fold against weaker opponents who check-raise turn with a much stronger range. At the moment the gameplan is assuming competent opponents, that are playing reasonably close to GTO. In a coming update we will introduce exploitative play that takes advantage of opponents' mistakes, stay tuned! ### 3/5 — Playa *2025-08-21* The Joker ### 3/5 — Good simple too to improve when starting *2025-02-12* It would be great if the app could remember our options on the gto table. E.g. I only play MTT and everytime I open the app I need to change the filter from cash game to MTT again Also, options such as 80, 50, 40 & 30 BB stacks and 5 or 7 players would be great (to cover when other players sit aside). Worth it? Too early to tell. Perhaps if you truly set your heart to learning a quality skill. However £6.99 a week for people just beginning is too much. **Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback, I understand your concern. If the weekly price is a bit too high, there are other options to consider: monthly, yearly and lifetime. You might want to check those plans out as well. For long term users, those are definitely better. If none of those meet your needs, you can start with the free plan and switch to premium later in your journey, when you play more seriously. ### 4/5 — New simulator *2026-01-15* Great App but this new simulator ruined the post flop exercise. I would like to disable seeing the hypothetical players cards and just see if I am making a good decision based on that board like the odd post flop exercise. **Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback! 🙏 I understand what you mean – seeing opponent cards can distract from pure postflop decision training and slows down the process a little bit.
