## What is Polaris?

Polaris is an intuitive music-making app designed to help you turn your musical ideas into reality. By stripping away the complexity of traditional desktop software and DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations), it provides a streamlined space to sketch, develop, and refine your work. Whether you are crafting a drum beat or a melodic electronic arrangement, Polaris is built to keep your creativity flowing.

--- Capture ideas instantly ---

The interface is designed to be accessible yet powerful. Use the modern, grid-based step sequencer to lay down drums, basslines, and melodies in seconds. With a design philosophy inspired by classic hardware, you can skip the setup time and get straight to the fun part: making music.

--- Powerful sequencing ---

Don't let the simple interface fool you, Polaris offers deep creative possibilities.

• Six tracks: combine different sounds to build complete patterns
• Step modulation: add movement by automating volume, cutoff, decay, and pitch on a per-step basis
• Advanced rhythm: use per-track rate control, swing, and trig conditions to keep your sequences fresh
• Extended patterns: chain up to 8 grids for sequences up to 128 steps

--- Deep sound design ---

Sculpt your own unique sound using a flexible dual-engine architecture.

• Sample engine: use 75 factory samples or import your own for limitless exploration
• Synth engine: create lush pads, deep bass, and plucky leads with the dual-oscillator synthesizer
• Shape your tone: every track features its own multimode filter and distortion unit

--- Mix, process, export ---

Fine-tune your project with the built-in mixing console. Add space using dedicated reverb and delay sends. When you are ready, capture your performance in real-time with the built-in recorder. Your ideas are exported as perfectly cut audio loops, ready for any other music software.

--- Built for iOS ---

Polaris fits right into your existing mobile studio setup.

• Standalone: use it as a complete, all-in-one music production station

Well thought out and executed app. Very very easy to learn and fun to use. Importing your own samples is a breeze. I’ll definitely be making a lot of use of this one 👍🏻

Very responsive developer! My one caveat for this app has been fixed, updating my review to reflect - saved sequences are now shared between the standalone and AUv3 modes! 🤗

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback! I've fixed the issue you mention where project files are separated between standalone and AUv3. It will be available in the next version.

Well thought out and executed app. Very very easy to learn and fun to use. Importing your own samples is a breeze. I’ll definitely be making a lot of use of this one 👍🏻

One thing to be aware of, and I believe this is an iOS/iPadOS limitation, if you create and save a sequence in the standalone app it will NOT be visible in your list of saved files when loading the AUV3 into a DAW. Seems like iOS maintains separate lists of saved files for the app and AUV3 plugin versions. On top of that, iOS doesn’t seem to let you access the AUV3 saves via the files app so you can’t easily copy them to the Polaris folder. Keep that in mind if you’re noodling with something you might bring into a project later!

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback! I've fixed the issue you mention where project files are separated between standalone and AUv3. It will be available in the next version.
