### 4/5 — Kind of good

*2026-10-18, version 7.0.6*

The processing is slow but it is worth it

### 2/5 — It looks cool but it always disappoints

*2026-10-10, version 7.0.5*

This app always disappoints me. I might need to give it up and just get a proper lidar camera system

### 2/5 — Résultats décevant et long en traitement

*2026-10-08, version 7.0.4*

L’upload est long sans wifi (généralement sur les lieux de prises de visuels). Le résultat est de faible qualité

### 2/5 — Downhill

*2026-10-05, version 7.0.4*

This app used to be phenomenal. I’ve had it for years. I’ve used it for a very long time. I’ve used it for a lot of stuff around my house. I’ve used it for a lot of stuff around families houses, and stuff like that. I used to have so many features when I paid by the year, I was a premium user. It was cheap and I’ve had the same subscription since I signed up for this app, but for some reason I keep losing features. I keep not being able to do things. The price keeps going higher. Losing my subscription and then having to pay more to get the next subscription I’ve lost the ability to see floor plans now except once a month for free without paying for a business subscription what are y’all doing? Besides running out the people who have been using this app for years

### 1/5 — Trash pay to win game

*2026-09-28*

I was almost exporting the model and suddenly need to pay to win for the textured model in other maps very trash

### 1/5 — No floor plan option

*2026-09-28, version 7.0.2*

I downloaded this to test out if I could scan a house and get a floor plan. Obviously I’m not going to pay for it before I knew if it worked or not.

Did a simple scan of a few rooms on my house and got no option to convert it into a floor plan.

After some sleuthing apparently I had to click the “floor plan button on the top left of the screen before you start scanning”.

Only problem with that is… there is no floor plan button on the top left of the screen. I’m in scan a space mode, not the floor plan mode or something else. And I’m on the latest iOS.

Is it a free trial thing? The website says the free trial includes 3d-> 2D floor plans so idk.

### 1/5 — Awful

*2026-09-27, version 7.0.2*

Impossible to use. All measurements are very inaccurate, quality is very bad, floor plans are poor. Nothing is right with this app.

### 1/5 — Not worth in 2026

*2026-09-27, version 7.0.2*

Monetized and made worse as all great apps inevitably do

### 1/5 — This app is adware

*2026-09-26, version 7.0.2*

Wouldn’t process my object and stopped working after I closed it. It only took my email.

### 1/5 — Was great til forced updates

*2026-09-26, version 7.0.2*

Cant use anymore 🤷‍♂️

### 1/5 — A remarkably poor way to treat potential paying customers.

*2026-09-26, version 7.0.2*

Polycam offers a 7-day free trial. Unfortunately, once you start using it, you quickly discover that many of the features you might actually want to evaluate are locked behind a higher subscription tier.

So I upgraded. I was already within my 7-day free trial, so I reasonably expected to be able to try the higher tier and decide whether it justified the considerable subscription cost.

Instead, I was charged £29.99 immediately.

The fact that upgrading would effectively end my free trial and result in an immediate £29.99 charge was certainly not made clear enough before I did it.

And apparently I am far from alone.

After this happened, I went back and properly read through the App Store reviews. There are numerous recent reviews raising similar complaints about subscriptions, charging and the very high monthly and annual costs.

Interestingly, Apple doesn’t display reviews by “Most Recent” by default. They are shown by “Most Helpful”.

It was only when I manually changed the sorting to “Most Recent” that I started seeing these complaints.

So my advice to anyone considering Polycam is very simple:

CHANGE THE REVIEWS TO “MOST RECENT” BEFORE STARTING A TRIAL OR SUBSCRIBING.

Read the experiences of recent customers and make your own decision.

As for the trial itself, this really shouldn’t be complicated. If changing subscription tier during an active free trial is going to immediately end that trial and trigger a payment, the customer should be presented with an unmistakable warning:

“UPGRADING WILL END YOUR FREE TRIAL AND YOU WILL BE CHARGED £29.99 IMMEDIATELY.”

Anything less is simply not good enough.

£29.99 per month is hardly an insignificant subscription. At that price, I would expect to be given a proper opportunity to evaluate the full product before deciding whether it represents good value.

Instead, I was charged immediately and cancelled the £29.99/month subscription immediately afterwards.

So congratulations, Polycam. Rather than converting a free-trial user into a potentially long-term customer, your subscription experience managed to turn me into a paying customer and a former customer on the same day.

The product may be excellent. I was trying to find out. I thought that was the entire point of offering a 7-day free trial.

### 2/5 — Terrible UX

*2026-09-20, version 7.0.2*

I can't believe I pay money for this. How did this get past any real UX team? Scans drop, I can't rename a scan, and clicking on a draft scan gets you no way to get out of it except closing the app and restarting. Get the coders out of their free massages and pedicures, fire your UX team and replace them with actual users. This thing sucks.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Buggy & expensive

*2026-10-18, version 7.0.6*

Froze consistently on top of the range new iPhone so clearly not fit for purpose.

### 1/5 — 30 dollars and you can’t download reports

*2026-10-16, version 7.0.6*

I use to love this app for simple projects, but it has gotten expensive and they have limited functionality with cost. Insane

### 1/5 — Cash Grab

*2026-10-16, version 7.0.6*

Deceptive subscription model, beware. You may get charged for a full subscription and you cannot cancel it. The tiers are ridiculously expensive as well. Beware

### 1/5 — NEED PAYMENT INFO FOR FREE TRIAL? NO THANKS.

*2026-10-15, version 7.0.6*

Too many reviews sharing how people were charged after canceling. Not giving access to my $$ to run a free trial and see if the app is worth the cost. Deleted app.

### 1/5 — Be very wary of a ‘Free Trial’

*2026-10-08, version 3.2.4*

I clicked on the ‘Free Trial’ option and was alarmed to be charge about £70 for a year’s subscription. I received no response after lodging a complaint. It’s a shame as the App showed some promise.

### 1/5 — Stingy

*2026-10-03, version 7.0.4*

Some features used to be reasonably free, then everything became locked behind a paywall, might as well charge to download the app at this point, no point in making it free to download.

### 1/5 — Scam

*2026-10-03, version 7.0.4*

Do not do the free trial. They auto bill for a year after it’s done.

### 1/5 — Unusable

*2026-09-30, version 7.0.3*

Crashes on launch every time I open

### 1/5 — Danny

*2026-09-29, version 7.0.3*

Trying to 3d scan a motorcycle part and it’s just a mess would definitely not purchase

### 1/5 — Subscription scam

*2026-09-28, version 7.0.2*

They automatically subscribed me to the $400/yr business plan after my 7-day trial period. Obviously many companies do this on purpose to mislead anyone who wants to test the app but not commit to the subscription. Pathetic company policy and won’t be using it nor recommending to my colleagues when there are cheaper and less predatory alternative options for 3D scanning.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Polycam Fire Investigations

*2026-09-26, version 7.0.2*

Polycam has become one of my go to Fire investigative tools. It’s great for measurements capturing 3-D models and spatial relationships. My Fire investigative scans can be walk-through on Meta quest and I can conduct training all around the world with my 3-D scans. Polycam is essential for training and Fire investigations.
