## What is Polygotcha?

PolyGotcha is a keyboard that translates as you type. Write in your own
language, pause, and the translation appears right above the keys. Tap it
to swap your text before you hit send.

It works everywhere you type: Messages, WhatsApp, Instagram, Mail, dating
apps, anywhere. No copying, no pasting, no switching to a translator app
and back.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Type in your language.
2. Pause for a moment. The translation appears in the bar above the keys.
3. Tap it to replace your text, or turn on automatic mode and just type.

Two-way translation reads what you typed and picks the direction on its
own. Reply to a French message in English and send it in French; when you
type French, it turns into English.

WORKS ON ANY IPHONE

Two on-device models. Apple Intelligence handles nuance and tone on iPhone
15 Pro and later. Apple Translation runs on every other iPhone, so an older
device is not locked out.

PICK YOUR TONE

Neutral, casual, formal, or street. Street tone writes the way people
actually text, with everyday slang instead of textbook phrasing. Tone is
available on the Apple Intelligence model.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN

Translation runs entirely on your iPhone. Your words never leave your
device: no servers, no accounts, no tracking. PolyGotcha has no backend to
send them to.

Full Access is optional and off by default. Leave it off and iOS itself
keeps the keyboard off the network. Turn it on only if you choose the
Apple Translation model, which iOS will not open to a keyboard otherwise.
It is still on-device translation either way.

LANGUAGES

Translate between English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian,
Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and more. The exact list depends on your device
and iOS version.

FREE AND PRO

Typing with the PolyGotcha keyboard is free, always, and so are your first
10 translations. After that Pro unlocks unlimited translation: 7 days free,
then $1.99 a month, $11.99 a year, or $24.99 once for lifetime access.

GOOD TO KNOW

PolyGotcha needs iOS 26 or later. The Apple Intelligence model also needs
an Apple Intelligence device (iPhone 15 Pro or newer); on any other iPhone,
choose Apple Translation in the app's Settings tab. Translations come from
on-device AI models, which can make mistakes, so double-check important
messages.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.6.2 — 2026-08-07

Setup improvements and bug fixes.

- Setting up Full Access is now instant. PolyGotcha sees the setting the moment you turn it on, so there's no more typing in a box to check it. It notices just as quickly if you turn it off.
- Fixed: the setup guide now returns to the card you were on after a trip to Settings, instead of starting over.
- Fixed: the Full Access screens no longer ask you to check something the app already knows.
- Languages moved to the top of Translation in Settings, so they're easier to find.

### 1.6.1 — 2026-08-04

Better than ever with a few bug fixes:

- Apple Intelligence is no longer offered on iPhones that cannot run it.
- The Languages screen updates as soon as a language pack finishes downloading, instead of waiting for a restart.

And a few more small fixes and performance improvements to make sure the app runs as smoothly as it can.

### 1.6.0 — 2026-08-03

Two ways to be sure your message says what you meant:

- Ever sent a message in a language you don't speak and just hoped for the best? Now you can check. Tap the check button and PolyGotcha turns the translation back into your own language, so you see exactly what the other person will read.
- Writing in a language you're still learning or typing too fast? Tap the proofread button and PolyGotcha corrects the spelling, grammar and accents, without translating anything. It fixes what's wrong and leaves the rest of your words exactly as you wrote them. It works in whatever language you're typing, even one you haven't set up. Available in Manual mode only.

Proofreading needs an iPhone with Apple Intelligence.

Both of these run on your iPhone, like everything else in PolyGotcha. Nothing is sent anywhere.

### 1.5.2 — 2026-07-30

Settings now live in the app.

- Languages, packs, model, translation mode and Full Access are all in one place.
- Fixed a crash that closed the keyboard and dropped you back to the Apple keyboard.
- Your language pair stays in sync between the app and the keyboard.
- Full Access is confirmed in the app, with no trip to Settings to check a switch you already turned on.
- iPhones without Apple Intelligence now start on Apple Translation, which works on every iPhone.

### 1.5.1 — 2026-07-30

Fixes so that the app runs smoothly on older iPhones:

- Fixed a crash that could close the keyboard when you opened its settings and drop you back to the Apple keyboard. It showed up most on older iPhones, but the fix is for everyone.
- Your language pair stays in sync now. Pick it in the app and the keyboard follows; pick it on the keyboard and the app catches up, as long as Full Access is on. The Languages tab is finally the language selector it always looked like.
- Full Access is confirmed inside the app, so checking it no longer means a trip to Settings to look at a switch you already turned on.
- iPhones without Apple Intelligence now start on the Apple Translation model, which works on every iPhone, instead of one they can never run.
