### 1/5 — poor

*2026-04-30*

Tried the biology beginner and intermediate. it presents information in the form of terms and definition. this is a really poor way to learn. information is best presented in an organized way that allows a student to create a map of knowledge. This just gives a bunch of dissociated facts that is hard to tie together. they spend less than 20 minutes on each body system which is barely scratching the surface. Good idea for an app but poor execution. Very disappointed

a much better use of time would be listening to courses or lectures from youtube where real experts present information.

**Developer response:** Sorry the purpose of the app was not better communicated. Polym is not intended to replace books or YouTube courses. Its purpose is to help users retain foundational knowledge through active learning, spaced repetition, and interleaving. Watching a YouTube course is valuable, but watching a YouTube course and then continually revisiting its key concepts using research-backed learning methods is, in our view, even better.

To clarify for anyone reading this, Polym provides courses, typically 6–12 short lectures, that teach and connect ideas. For later review, we also provide term-only lectures that revisit key terms from each course, along with flashcard lectures designed for active recall practice.

### 2/5 — bait and switch

*2026-02-22*

Makes you sign up and pick interests with the promise of learning new things, then hits you with a mandatory sign-up for a subscription service. I despise this tactic!

**Developer response:** Sorry for your frustration. We are a startup and unfortunately do not see it being feasible to scale with a free tier at the moment. That may change in the future. We do offer a free trial which can be easily opted out of in your iPhone settings. If a paid subscription is not of interest, our core learning techniques–active learning, spaced repetition, and interleaving–can be implemented with Anki and Obsidian, though you’ll need to populate them with your own notes. Wishing you the best on your learning journey.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2025-02-02*

Polym is a great tool for learning through audio. The course variety is impressive, and the audio quality is clear and engaging. I especially like the offline feature, allowing me to learn on the go. The interface is easy to navigate, and progress tracking is a nice touch. My only gripe is the limited free content and occasional syncing issues between devices. Overall, it’s a solid app for anyone looking to learn through audio.

### 5/5 — So far so good!

*2025-02-02*

I really like the idea of this app. The four free lessons are lengthy and gave me a good understanding of the apps purpose. Good info in the lectures.
I do wish there were other voices to choose from that felt more natural.
