### 4/5 — Good but Room for Improvement

*2026-06-30, version 512*

Overall, I like what this app does and I think it is definitely worth the cost of the subscription. I love having this app to keep track of pool test results and to easily calculate chemical additions needed. Love that it is designed to help with SLAM, too.

My two requests are:
1. Please add limited account sharing between (at least) two people. I want to be able to “share” my pool with my husband so we can both **add** and view the data for our mutual pool. It’s so annoying that only one of us can “own” the pool data
2. Graphs. Please, please, please add the ability to view data as graphs over time. Seeing a monthly graph and an annual graph would be so interesting and helpful.

Anyway, I like and appreciate the app, hope it will continue to improve

### 3/5 — At least it works on the iPhone

*2026-06-29, version 512*

I have been using this app on my iPad for years. And it has worked very well with most of their enhancements being pretty useful.

About two months it just stopped being functional on the iPad. The moment you tap any field and enter anything it freezes and is just utter garbage.

Fortunately it still works perfectly on my iPhone so I have had to shift over to that which is why I gave it three stars.

### 4/5 — Kinda Glitchy

*2026-06-10, version 512*

Since taking over my pool maintenance, this app has been beyond helpful. My pool tech was clearly doing bare minimums.

However, app is a little glitchy.

I have an SWG and I can’t get a recommendation on chlorine treatment other than running my chlorination at a higher %. Troubleshooting says to toggle back to free chlorine, but that doesn’t work and it’s annoying.

Also, when a reading is within a target range (like calcium hardness) it shows I’m outside of the actual number I may have provided. Either let us put in ranges or respect the ranges provided!

### 2/5 — The app seems handy, but lacks features and support

*2025-11-16, version 511*

The app seems very handy in helping you figure out what chemicals to add to keep your pool, clean and beautiful but my biggest draw to the app was the ability to set reminders for things like backwashing and filter clean out. The issue is I don’t receive any notifications regarding these reminders. I checked both the app settings in iOS and in the app itself and don’t see any notification options. I’m not sure why it’s called a reminder if it doesn’t remind you to do these tasks or that these tasks are overdue. I tried to reach out to support via the App Store listing but get an error message saying I’m not allowed to access their support portal. If I can receive push notifications regarding these types of routine maintenance task, this would be five star app.

### 2/5 — Logging adding chemicals doesn’t work

*2025-08-09, version 510*

This doesn’t work if you log the addition of a chemical from inside the testing screen. Let you log the addition of a chemicals in suggested amount or different amount claims it saving doesn’t actually save anywhere. You must go to the home screen and log the addition separately and save all your current numbers separately.

Pretty major functionality for the developer to not know doesn’t work

### 3/5 — Good app, but won’t sync

*2025-07-26, version 510*

We cannot get the app to sync across devices. The app is still useful, but the inability to sync across devices is irritating. One adult has to be in control of all the chemicals. Other than that, the app works exactly as described and is very helpful. It would be useful to have a link for support in the app. I could not find one.

### 2/5 — Interface issues

*2025-05-21, version 510*

Style updates seem to have made the interface buggy. When adding acid for pH, it kept displaying the wrong chemical after I selected something else, or displaying one chemical with quantities for another.

### 1/5 — Won’t work with latest iOS

*2025-05-04, version 510*

Ive used it in the past, but it no longer saves any of my additions. Oh well. Guess its time to try a new app that will keep up with the Apple upgrades

Update: the developers say it was due to server maintenance. This is not true as the issue still persists.

### 2/5 — Requires Subscription

*2025-02-04, version 510*

I can’t update my pool’s test results after logging my first values. Entering a new log requires a subscription and there is no way to update the values of the initial log. The inability to do this makes the app nothing more than a glorified math chart, so I see no point in using it.

### 2/5 — Change to menu

*2024-09-29, version 510*

I liked it when all of the chemical adjustments needed were on 1 screen. Now I have to click into each test result to see what chemical to add.

### 1/5 — Can’t use for my pool

*2024-09-25, version 510*

My pool is a bromine pool. That’s not an option in this app.

### 2/5 — Where is my fave app?

*2024-08-18, version 510*

What happened in the update to my pool app? I should’ve never updated. Layout is awful. ☹️🫣

### 4/5 — Prefer Old UI

*2024-08-08, version 510*

I’m still not crazy about the new color scheme but do like that you’ve restored some of the old features like number of days since last test and target ranges, so thank you for that. But why don’t I get the smaller squares on my overview tab to show all my results on a single page without scrolling? I’m using iOS and a screenshot in the iOS App store shows it this way. Plus a friend using your android version has it this way as well.

### 4/5 — Latest update

*2024-07-30, version 509*

Latest update has a bug. Example when trying to input. Target free chlorine it does not allow to erase the digit that is currently there and just keeps adding more digits.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Desktop version is better

*2026-07-10, version 512*

For whatever reason, this does not give the same recommendations as the desk top application. Desktop app said 56oz of autistic acid. The app said 8 oz was needed. Follows the app and needless to say….needed 56 ounces 🤦🏻‍♀️

### 1/5 — Pointless

*2026-07-02, version 512*

App is completely pointless. It will not log anything, even if I lie to it and tell it added something, it does nothing. Every category says “no test logs”.

### 1/5 — App ok-IMPOSSIBLE TO CANCEL! 🤬

*2026-06-15, version 512*

Way too hard to cancel. It’s been years and still being charged.

### 1/5 — Sure wants me to buy premium

*2026-06-02, version 512*

If I try to do ANYTHING it tells me to upgrade to premium. It let me enter exactly one pool test result. Now? Constant prompts. Looked everywhere, as I assumed the free version would be one pool, one test result per day. But apparently it’s one pool, one test result ever?

### 1/5 — Cheap, wrong, misleading

*2026-05-06, version 512*

This app is literally wrong in some cases and misleading in others. Best avoid if you care about your pool!

### 1/5 — Lost all my data

*2025-09-25, version 511*

Upgraded to a new phone and lost ALL my historical data. Apparently you need to manually backup and restore data, unlike just about any modern app. Will not be paying for this any longer out of principle

### 1/5 — Bait and switch

*2025-07-08, version 510*

It let me add a single log of test results and then wants me to subscribe to an app that provides basic functionality.

I tried deleting the log and it still wants a subscription before allowing another log.

It’s a pretty bad look for Trouble Free Pool.

### 1/5 — App is slow now

*2025-05-21, version 510*

This app used to be great. It has been super slow to open lately and unusable.

### 1/5 — Well darn

*2025-05-18, version 510*

I read where TFP said the app works with the current iOS 18.5, but I’m having the spinning wheel of death when I try to make any notes or add chemicals. I was able to successfully add my test results, but nothing past that. Please get this corrected, this truly is the best app ever. We have had a gorgeous pool every summer with the help of TFP, PoolMath, and TfTestKits. Thank you!

### 1/5 — Not free

*2025-05-17, version 510*

After a few test results it locks you out and wants money. Not worth it

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Test Logs & Recommendations at your fingertips!

*2026-04-21, version 511*

The title says it all; test the water, record results, follow the suggested chemical additions. Buh bye pool store testing!!

### 5/5 — Exactly what I was looking for

*2025-08-22, version 511*

Worth every penny. This app is a godsend. Takes all the guess work out of keeping a balanced pool. Love the “Effects of Adding “ calculator and the “Timeline” feature. Pool school is also a great reference.

### 5/5 — Best Pool App

*2025-08-14, version 510*

I can’t love this app enough. I’ve been a subscriber for over 7 years. Easy to input pool test results. The app tells you what is in or out of range and gives you the amount of chemicals to add per volume and type of pool. Must have for every pool owner!

### 5/5 — Stupid simple

*2024-09-18, version 510*

I was a new pool owner. Still am. However I don’t feel like it. Between buying a good robust Taylor kit, this app, and some hour a week, I know how to manipulate and manage my pool to my liking. The app makes the math easy and it is verified by the results I get when I follow up after chem additions 24hrs later. Can’t be happier with the app and its results.
Only thing I want added is the ability to toggle the alerts for “out of ideal range” off. If I’m setting my ideal target already, then benchmark the alerts to that,or allow us to toggle them off,or allow manual ranges to be set. Otherwise I’m satisfied.

### 5/5 — Less Chemicals, More Fun

*2024-08-18, version 510*

This app is from TroubleFreePool which is a non-profit forum of pool owners who want to help other pool owners enjoy beautiful, clean swimming pools without using more chemicals than necessary. They are super knowledgeable and very helpful. This app helps pool owners know exactly what chemicals are needed and how much of each chemical to use. Great app for a great forum!

### 5/5 — An absolute necessity

*2024-08-03, version 510*

Before I found this app, I had spent at least a hundred dollars each month on chemicals, and was getting frustrated reading pool maintenance articles online. Since I found this app, I only buy bleach to keep it chlorinated, and I skim the bugs out and do vacuuming and scrubbing every few days, along with filter cleaning. So much easier and cheaper now - I have saved a ton of money and will continue to for every month this pool stays open every year! Very thankful

### 5/5 — Amazing app

*2024-07-29, version 509*

Keeps my pool crystal clear, tfp is the best resource for all pool related questions

### 5/5 — Good update

*2024-07-18, version 509*

The return of some sorely missed features is great - such as the top text ideal/recommended summary. UI is overall easier to read also. I use the app multiples time a week!

### 5/5 — Fantastic app keeps my pool crystal clear

*2024-07-12, version 507*

Been using Pool Math for the past few years and it’s incredible. My pool is crystal clear and this is such a great way to keep track of chemical trends over time.

### 5/5 — Great for tracking everything; chem descriptions

*2024-07-04, version 507*

I’ve been a paid subscriber for several years and find this a great way to track my test results and chemicals added. The summer 2034 update adds very helpful descriptions of each chemical in the menus where you log what you’ve added to the pool. One minor request: when logging chemicals added, I’d like a unit type for “count” or “pucks” so I can log the number of trichlor pucks added instead of specifying it in ounces.
