## What is Pool OS?

PoolOS — Modern Pool Control
PoolOS is built around four principles:

1. Blistering fast
When you tap a circuit, light, pump, or spa control, the app should respond instantly. No staring at a spinner wondering if anything happened.

2. Built for pool owners, not IT people
You shouldn’t need to understand networks, relays, protocols, or controller quirks just to turn on your spa. PoolOS tries to handle as much as possible automatically and explain what’s happening when it can’t.

3. Enterprise feel, not glitchy
The app should feel calm and trustworthy. No random equipment flicker, no confusing reconnect storms, no dashboard lying about what the hardware is doing, no more "do something and have it undo about 30 seconds later"

4. Trusted information
PoolOS treats the controller as the source of truth. It gives you instant feedback, then verifies against the hardware and corrects itself if needed.

Take control of your Pentair (and soon others) pool system the way it should have always worked. PoolOS is a fast, clean, and actively maintained replacement for the Pentair ScreenLogic app — built by a pool owner, for pool owners.

Why PoolOS?
The official ScreenLogic app hasn't seen meaningful updates in years, and it looks like it was developed for the installers, not the user. PoolOS connects to your existing Pentair ScreenLogic controller and delivers a modern, intuitive experience on top of the same protocol — no new hardware required.

Weather Watch = Three layers of protection, One app.
Weather Watch is built into PoolOS — no separate app, no extra setup.
1) Storm Watch is free for every user.
2) Weather Guard and Lightning Proximity are PoolOS Pro features.

Storm Watch: PoolOS monitors the NOAA National Weather Service alert feed for your pool’s county in real time. When a severe weather warning is issued, you get a push notification within seconds — not minutes.

Weather Guard: No pool app protects your heat pump. Until now.... Heat pumps lose efficiency — and risk compressor damage — when outdoor temperatures fall below their operating range. The Pentair app will run yours at 38°F without question. PoolOS won’t. Weather Guard is an automatic heat pump protection system that monitors outdoor temperature and prevents your heat pump from running in conditions that waste energy and/or could damage the compressor. Set your threshold once. Weather Guard handles the rest — silently, automatically, and with hysteresis logic that prevents short-cycling.

Lightning Proximity (coming soon): is real-time lightning strike tracking with distance-based alerts. Know exactly how close strikes are — not just that a storm is somewhere nearby.

Free vs Premium

I want to be clear about the model.

The free app still covers the core pool experience and everything you'd find in your pool management app: monitoring, manual control, schedules, setup, and normal local/remote access through the connection path you already use.
The free app also includes Storm Watch, which is a storm alert system.

Premium is for cloud-backed intelligence features that require servers and external data sources, like Weather Guard, Lightning Proximity and upcoming - Pump Optimization.

Pricing is $8.99/month or $89.99/year, with a 14-day free trial and Family Sharing, and auto-renewal.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.0.3 — 2026-08-08

Updates in version 2.0.3:
• Faster PoolOS Bridge connect when you’re away from home — less waiting off your home Wi‑Fi
• Steadier live Bridge updates, including during quiet periods at the pool
• Join an already-set-up Bridge on home Wi‑Fi from another household phone — no Bluetooth re-setup

### 2.0.2 — 2026-07-07

• Home screen layout — Weather Guard, Super Chlorinate, and salt alerts now sit below equipment toggles on narrow iPhones, so titles and telemetry stay readable.
• Equipment names scale cleanly on one line when space is tight (Salt Generator, Heater, and more).
• Minor stability improvements.

### 2.0.1 — 2026-06-25

New in PoolOS 2.0.1

Jandy iAquaLink support
PoolOS now controls Jandy pool controllers, not just Pentair. Sign in with your iAquaLink email and password — the same login you use in the official app — and your pump, spa, aux circuits, temperatures, and heaters appear on the same fast PoolOS home screen. No extra hardware required. Variable-speed pump control, salt/SWC readings, and equipment telemetry are all supported on compatible RS panels. Just pick Pentair or Jandy when you first connect.

Redesigned Alerts tab
• Active vs. Resolved labels on every alert, so you know what still needs attention versus what already cleared.
• A badge on the Alerts tab shows how many conditions need attention right now.
• Clear Resolved or Clear All from the toolbar, or swipe to delete individual entries.
• Tap an active alert to jump straight to Salt Generator, Heater, or Storm Mode.

Smarter Weather Guard (Pro)
• Cloud-coordinated heat-pump protection so every phone on your pool agrees on one decision — and it keeps working when your phone is asleep.
• One subscriber sets it up; everyone on the pool is covered.
• Blocks manual heat commands in cold air, and restores heat only when it's warm enough and your heater schedule is active.

Fixes & polish
• Super Chlorinate (Pentair) now actually runs the salt cell at 100% when you tap Start, and stops on Stop.
• More reliable first connection — PoolOS auto-retries a cold-start cloud connection instead of leaving you waiting.
• Cleaner pump pages: one row for your main pump, and the "also affects" note appears only when two circuits truly share the same speed preset.
• Balanced temperature labels and various stability improvements.

### 1.5 — 2026-05-18

What’s New in v1.5

The big headline for v1.5 is Weather Watch.

FREE: Storm Watch.
PoolOS monitors severe weather alerts for your pool location and can notify you about tornado warnings, severe thunderstorms, hail risk, flood watches, and high-wind alerts.

PREMIUM: Weather Guard.
This protects heat pumps by watching outdoor temperature and automatically preventing operation when conditions are too cold for efficient or safe operation.

PREMIUM: Lightning Proximity (coming soon).
This will use real lightning strike data, not just generic thunderstorm warnings, to alert when lightning is approaching your pool area.

v1.5 also includes a lot of reliability and usability improvements: faster local discovery, faster ScreenLogic relay lookup, automatic cleanup for ghost circuits, better pool/spa light handling, persistent light color selection, cleaner pump transition behavior, a more reliable Weather Watch backend, and improved PoolOS Bridge setup.

Free vs Premium

I want to be clear about the model.

The free app still covers the core pool experience: monitoring, manual control, schedules, setup, Storm Watch, and normal local/remote access through the connection path you already use.

Premium is for cloud-backed intelligence features that require servers and external data sources, like Weather Guard, Lightning Proximity and upcoming - Pump Optimization.

Pricing is $8.99/month or $89.99/year, with a 14-day free trial and Family Sharing and auto-renewal.

### 1.4.1 Security Patch — 2026-04-22

Security fix. This update addresses an issue where the app could silently connect to the wrong pool system if your home internet connection dropped briefly. PoolOS now always verifies your controller by name on every connection — guaranteeing you only ever see your own pool. All users should update.
