If a reading has moved further than water chemistry allows, Pool Pilot holds the recommendation rather than acting on it, shows you this test beside the last one, and asks you to confirm — with a fresh strip, a recalibration, or manual entry. The same care runs through the recommendations themselves. Shock is suggested only when combined chlorine has actually been confirmed. Partial drains arrive as a percentage and a gallon amount, worked out from your pool volume and stating it on the card so you can correct it if it is wrong — and in stepwise amounts, because several small drains are safer than one big one. When a reading drops sharply, you get a heads-up to retest before you dose. CALIBRATION IS YOURS TO APPROVE Setting up your test strips now ends where it should: on a screen showing exactly what was read from your bottle's color chart, with Save and Retake side by side.
