Not the end of the world but a bit annoying to pay for a premium tier under the expectation of financing future development in hopes to get those features only to see one day that they update, it add 2 features (one of which imo should be included in the existing plans), then plop a non-dismissible ad for the more expensive subscription on EVERY page that takes up ~20% of the screen real estate… It’s a decent app, but releasing new features under a separate subscription from the ones that people have been paying rubs be the wrong way a bit… especially since people pay for annual subscriptions so now you could be 4 months into a yearly sub (ineligible for a refund) and stuck with a static banner because you don’t want to pay for an entire second subscription ontop of what you’ve already paid for. Anyways. App is good, but I dont agree with this practice. I understand AI image scanning may be something that costs an add on due to API fees and such but idk… the implementation with the banner and the fact that trends are a paid feature when stats is also a paid feature in the original subscription model feels like a money grab. And I will also say, there is a difference between “lifetime payments” and being locked in at that feature state. But it’s specifically paying a subscription which is only a justified model in the first place because you’re effectively investing in the app and features are your ROI… so when features stop being the ROI, I guess that’s when subscription fatigue starts to creep. Sorry for any negativity. I use the app to the point I’ve been happy to pay. But the recent update rubbed me the wrong way a bit.
