I cannot believe that a company that makes such great cars would turn out something so awful. I own 2 software companies and we make apps and this POS would never make it out the door at my place. It is impossible to connect to the camera unless the phone is in airplane mode which is a huge joke. I can’t even upgrade the firmware on the camera because the phone has to be in airplane mode to connect. It’s laughable. Moreover, after spending hours at the dealership trying to figure this out we found the airplane mode solution by searching the Internet. The QA team on this app should be fired. Had I known how bad this is I never would have bought the system and if it wasn’t already installed in my car I’d demand my money back. they are not even worth 1 star but I can’t put zero. The connection process is plagued with drama it took me three hours to figure it out thanks to one of the other reviews here. Basically start I. Airplane mode and have no connections to anything else when you start and it helps. However, if you disconnect your phone from all other Wi-Fi sources (including CarPlay) it will then connect. It is painful but I can use it now. It is impossible to connect the phone to the dash cam, and when you do either the app crashes or nothing works. Verified this with 4 phones from dealership employees. Go about your business, get out of airplane mode, turn your car’s hotspot back on and be on your way. You’re welcome! ### 4/5 — It works *2025-11-21* It’s certainly not the easiest app to connect. The trick is to turn on airplane mode, disconnect from any surrounding WiFi and disable Apple CarPlay. Once these are all set, open the app and it works just fine. The video quality is good and clear. ### 4/5 — If the app doesn’t want to connect, read on *2024-06-06* I experienced the same frustration that a lot of reviewers have expressed, that the app would not connect to the Porsche Tequipment dashcam. I discovered a workaround that appears to work. Close the Porsche dashcam app completely then disable both Bluetooth and cellular access for the Porsche Dashcam through your phone’s settings. Reopen the Porsche dashcam app and it should now connect. When it connects, it’s very stable. The app needs some work but so far so good! I just had a near miss requiring hard braking that triggered the event beep. I logged into the app and only my drives from the morning were visible. However when I pulled the SD card and took it inside, the captures were there. So this is a software problem not a cam problem. Second issue, the GPS fails for me all the time and just shows 0. This might be due to my thermal glass option, but I -have- seen it work on occasion.
