Copy on one device, paste on another. Portage syncs your clipboard between your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or PC across ecosystems, within about a second. Apple's Universal Clipboard stops at Apple devices. Portage is for the rest of us: iPhone ↔ Windows or any mix. Copy an address on your phone and paste it on your PC. Copy a code on your desktop and paste it on your tablet. PRIVATE BY CONSTRUCTION Everything is end-to-end encrypted. The key that reads your clipboard is created on your first device and travels only inside the pairing QR code you scan, it never touches the server. The server stores opaque encrypted envelopes it cannot read, and deletes them after one hour. Pin an item to keep it for 30 days. NO ACCOUNT. REALLY. There is no email, no username, no password — nothing to create and nothing to phish. Your devices authenticate with hardware-backed cryptographic keys. Adding a device means scanning a QR code from one you already own. You can require that new devices be approved by your existing ones before they receive anything. HOW IT WORKS ON iOS Receiving is automatic while the app is open. Sending uses the Paste button — iOS requires a tap before an app may read the clipboard, and Portage never reads it without one. NEW • Images up to 32 MB. The limit was 2 MB; images now travel both ways at their original size and quality. • Settings shows how much space stored copies take on this device, with a button to clear them. • On iPad, Portage now sits in a centred column instead of stretching across the whole screen. IMPROVED • When an image or text can't be sent, the app says why in plain words and names the limit, instead of a technical error, a reason that wasn't the real one, or nothing at all. • Turning on device approval is now a two-device step: one of your other devices approves this one to finish it, and you can cancel while it waits. • When two of your devices share a name, the app now tells them apart where it matters: when you remove one, and when it tells you which device to open. FIXED • Turning on device approval from your iPhone could leave the iPhone itself waiting for approval, and unable to switch approval off again. • The approval count could say a device was fully approved while it was still waiting. • A device that was on your account before you turned approval on was called new and described as cut off. It is neither, and the app now describes it correctly. • Text you had already sent could be sent again when Universal Clipboard handed it back from your Mac. • While this device was waiting for approval, the Devices button did nothing, and a message could sit over the Pair device, Devices and Settings buttons. • A long Diagnostics list could draw over the heading beneath it. WORTH KNOWING • An image over 2 MB arrives and syncs, but can't yet be copied back onto the clipboard from your list. Tapping it tells you so. • A very large image may appear in your list as its description rather than a picture. It has still arrived. • Files — PDFs, documents, archives — are not supported yet. ### 1.2 — 2026-09-05 Portage carries images now. Copy a screenshot on your iPhone and paste it on your PC or Mac — or send one the other way. Until this release Portage moved text and nothing else. NEW • Images at their original size. Nothing is downscaled and nothing is re-encoded. • Two ways to send one. Copy an image and tap Paste, or share it to Portage straight from Photos. Sharing from Photos never actually worked before this build — the share sheet handed Portage your photo and the app never looked at it. • Pictures in your list, not filenames. Tap one and the image goes back on your clipboard. • Pin anything you want to keep. Pinned items are held for 30 days; everything else still clears an hour after it arrives. • Approve new devices. You can require that any device joining your account be approved by devices you already trust. It stays off until you turn it on. • Copies made while you are offline are no longer lost. They queue, show as pending, and send when the connection comes back. FIXED • Your clipboard could be replaced with something older, on every device. When a device could not write to its clipboard it carried on as though the write had worked, then found the older text still sitting there, decided you had just copied it, and sent that to everything else on your account. This is an old defect — every Portage build before this one has it. • Copying something once could turn into two items. • Tapping Pair twice created two pairing slots instead of one. • Removing a lost or stolen device now genuinely cuts it off, within about three minutes. • Deleting a copy that had not been sent yet did the opposite of what it said — it arrived on your other devices minutes later. A deleted item could also come back. • The connection indicator was guessed from error text, so an unrelated message could turn the whole app red while the connection was perfectly fine. • Re-pairing a pinned image could replace it, for everyone on the account, with the words describing it. • The version shown in the app was wrong. WORTH KNOWING • Images are capped at 2 MB in each direction on iPhone. A larger one is refused with a reason rather than failing quietly. Desktops have no cap. • If any device on your account is too old to display images, Portage will not send one — everything you copy reaches every device, and one old device would otherwise get a screenful of noise.
