## What is PortaPass?

PortaPass helps you prepare password CSV files for moving saved logins between Safari, Apple Passwords, Chrome, and Google Password Manager.

Everything happens locally on your device. PortaPass does not store your passwords in the cloud, sync browsers continuously, or access Safari Keychain or Chrome password databases directly. You choose a CSV export, review issues, create an import-ready file, then import it yourself using the destination browser's normal tools.

What PortaPass can help with:
- Transfer between Safari / Apple Passwords and Chrome / Google Password Manager
- Convert password CSV formats
- Find duplicates and conflicting logins
- Spot missing websites, usernames, and passwords
- Review entries with passwords hidden by default
- Export a clean import CSV
- Remember to delete readable CSV files after import

Privacy by design:
- Local-only CSV processing
- No account
- No cloud password storage
- No backend password sync
- No analytics SDK in the app
- Password values are not logged

Important: password CSV files are plain text. Anyone who can open the file can read the passwords inside. PortaPass helps you handle those files carefully, but you should import them promptly and delete both the original and converted CSV files when you are done.

PortaPass is a migration assistant, not a password manager. It does not sync browsers automatically and is not affiliated with Apple, Safari, Google, Chrome, or Google Password Manager.
