### 3/5 — Doesn’t load images from Dropbox

*2022-05-04, version 5.0.4*

I love this APP, but lately I haven’t been able to load images from Dropbox. Is this an ongoing issue?

### 2/5 — Could be great, but it’s not

*2021-04-23, version 5.0.4*

There is a lot of really nice structure to the way portfolio for iPad is created. Sadly, that doesn’t include the means to load images into portfolios. How an apple app cannot include iCloud is beyond me. The only way I could load images was converting a NAS Drive 2SFTP, which is a very slow transfer. Forget about Lightroom, forget about that USB seaport, this app hasn’t been updated since 2017, and it shows in attempting to use it. If refunds were possible I’d want one.

### 4/5 — Waste of money and time

*2017-10-18*

It is not as intuitive as I hoped but once you learn the basic operations it does well what it is supposed to do.

### 4/5 — Really nice app for showing off your work...

*2017-10-08, version 5.0.3*

I love this app for showing off my work, and for my client presentations. It’s really well designed for the most part, and fairly customizable.
My only real complaint is the thumbnail size. Simply too small. Especially with a 13" iPad Pro. Holding the iPad Pro at arms length, as when sitting with a couple of clients, the thumbnails are really tiny, thus requiring clients to be constantly "leaning in" the see the image variations within a gallery set.
Allowing for much larger thumbnail sizes would really help with client presentations.
Would also like to see the basic ability to add an edge to your gallery images, such as a white, black and gray border. This would be especially helpful when comparing images. If you currently select 3 or 4 images to compare the borders are pushed flush together. Images need separation. Either by spacing, or a border, or both.
Very nice that you can hide folders from clients so they only see what you want them to see.
I love this app otherwise. It has replaced my desktop presentation app that costs hundreds of dollars. Bravo!
Add these two features and I'll give it an easy 5 star rating. Thanks.

### 2/5 — Clunky

*2017-10-04, version 5.0.3*

I wanted to love this but it’s glitchy and clunky. Got Foliobook instead and it’s easier and cleaner.

### 1/5 — Save Your Money

*2017-07-03, version 5.0.2*

I bought thus because of the ability to lock the interface and I needed an app I could customize on the go. Sadly I haven't even been able to get that far. Even with my files as low res as I can get away with the app will repeatedly crash when I try to move objects between galleries (even if it is just one at a time). The work around would be to have them pre-sorted before uploading, but that would require being at my laptop every single time I want to switch my galleries or customize my portfolio for different clients. All around this is very inconvenient for an ipad app. I cannot believe I spent $15 on this.

### 2/5 — Once again the update breaks critical function

*2015-07-07, version 4.0.8*

This app has become indispensable for me. I realize the dev already has my money and this is an empty threat, but I'm beginning the search for a new app to serve my needs because this one can't be counted on.

In the latest update the app won't play a sideshow without crashing on my Mini 1. This app has a history of broken updates but the last few have been solid with a lot of good big fixes so I took a chance. Lesson learned. I just wish I could go back to a working version.

5 stars when it's working, but not today.

### 1/5 — One star

*2015-05-30*

Complicate, it crash all the time.....i spent money on that app..... Dont make the same mistake !

### 3/5 — Latest update is disappointing

*2015-02-19*

Have loved using Portfolio since purchase a couple of weeks ago, but it has automatically updated to a version which doesn't play the music I added, or show the slideshow with the timing configurations I worked on. So nearly a great app, but not this time.

### 1/5 — Unhappy!!

*2015-02-02*

Has problems uploading photos from my camera roll or other galleries have resorted to another gallery app - money very wasted!

### 3/5 — Used to be great, now not quite so

*2014-07-11*

This app was excellent, now it's not so. The big issue for me is the timed automatic slideshow, which used to work fine but now splutters along with some of the photos not always changing at the designated interval - sometimes it takes too long to change picture, then it seems to race to catch up by presenting the next picture for too short a time.

The problem seems to be with photos added via the iPad camera roll since the last update, now that the file name of the photo is brought over from the PC via iTunes. Trying to track it down further, it could be on photos that are bigger than recommended (but not bigger than the maximum) size, or it could just be photos with full file names. Either way, on photos with the full file names the automatic slideshow pauses / stalls for longer the the time per slide that is set in the app, then the following photo shows for a shorter period than it should as the slideshow seemingly tries to catch up. I'm using fairly short times for each slide - usually <2-3 seconds. All in all this big makes for a non-smooth slideshow experience.

I bought this app mainly to do automatic slideshows, and it used to work great. It's fairly easy to set up and to create a good look for an iPad portfolio, but the slideshow is now pretty unusable. Shame really!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Basic functionality broken

*2023-01-12, version 5.0.4*

Should have believed the reviews. Won’t download images from Dropbox or from my camera roll, so effectively useless. Would love my money back.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2021-03-14, version 5.0.4*

It stopped synchronizing with Dropbox, Mac uploaded only works the first time. Emailing the maker only get you ignored.

DO NOT BUY.

APPLE NEEDS TO REMOVE THIS APP FROM THE STORE!!!

### 1/5 — No updates in 2 year

*2020-10-11, version 5.0.4*

This seems to be a dead app, no update in 2 years. No support for files or any new iOS features.

### 1/5 — Developer gone awol

*2020-04-01*

Shame, but the developer has gone awol.....

### 1/5 — Doesn't work

*2019-07-03*

It just doesn’t work. It's rubbish. The Portfolio Loader on Mac does not relate to the IOS app so there is no way to add, or upload any portfolio items. Complete waste of time and money. It would get zero stars if I could.

### 1/5 — Not worth your $$

*2019-03-19, version 5.0.4*

There really should be a way to test an app before buying.

I bought this app because I was looking for a simple way to present images without allowing users to see an interface - kind of an idiot-proof presentation medium. This app advertises locking users out of the edit mode, but the presentation mode isn’t intuitive, and has too much interface. When I hand my user the iPad ALL I want them to see is my work. If I have to teach them how to use the app to see the work, it’s not worth $0.01.

### 1/5 — This app is unusable.

*2019-01-19, version 5.0.4*

This app is completely unintuitive and impossible. It was a huge mistake to purchase.

### 1/5 — No longer working

*2018-09-21*

I used this app for several years without problems, then suddenly it started to crash when trying to upload new images the folio. No response from support so it looks like the developers have lost interest in this app

### 1/5 — Why is this still allowed to be sold?

*2018-06-16, version 5.0.4*

This app is overall good however there are big issues. There are features that I should be able to do according to the website and the tutorials and all the other information I’ve read up on this app. However, those features (simple things) do not work and I have tried to contact support over a dozen times across two months and still no answer.

### 1/5 — Don't Waste Your Money

*2017-10-01*

The developer leads you to believe that there is a wide range of functionality with their app, but doesn't come close to following through on the promise. The UI is not user friendly and doesn't brand your work the way you'd like. The UX is absolutely dreadful. Don't waste your money on such a useless app.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best photography and video portfolio

*2024-08-08*

This has been my favorite app for years. I use it as my personal photo and video album to share my family photos and videos on my iPad. Love, love, love it!

### 5/5 — Used for about 10 years

*2024-03-03*

I've used this app when projecting and talking about my photography work for probably about 10 years and never had acprobkem with it at all.
I can't understand the poor reviews here. It's the best way I've found for showing my work and for selecting images to show without people seeing the whole of the thumbnails in a folder while I'm picking the in age I want to show.
It runs MP4 files with music faultlessly as well.
A brilliant bit of software which I can't do without and have no idea what I would use without it.

### 5/5 — Great app with a caveat

*2019-08-09, version 5.0.4*

If you’re a creative director or work 8n advertising this app is a great way to show your work. It is visually sleek and simple. However, this is not an app for building portfolios but rather presenting them. If you’re looking for some to build out decks then you better learn in design or google slides. If you’re looking for an interface to share work with clients in person, then this is it I just wish that it supported gifs as well as well as in situation video ala when showing something comped into a device.

### 5/5 — Works well

*2019-04-03, version 5.0.4*

Portfolio for iPad is easy to use, has a workable amount of design flexibility and has been working without error for our artists’ portfolios.

### 5/5 — An amazing app for showing your work

*2016-07-24, version 4.5.1*

We've used this app for a many years for our digital portfolio. It works exactly as promised and has kept up with the iOS changes for years now. It hasn't been abandoned like almost over other app we've invested time and money into.

It's used mostly for wedding consultations now since we've moved to Studio Pro for proofing sessions. Being able to make it appear branded with our studio's logo, coloring, and style makes for a very polished presentation. It's streamed wirelessly to a larger screen in our meeting area while we drive it from the iPad.

It can't be recommended enough!

### 5/5 — Best Portfolio App I’ve used

*2016-03-24*

This app has a short steep learning curve but once you figure it out it’s fantastic. Every time I wished it would do something it turned out it did (just wasn’t immediately obvious). Also the tech support team replied within minutes to any questions I had which helped enormously. You can also download an image loader for your desktop that connects with the iPad app thru Wi-Fi which makes transferring images and movies from lots of different sources very easy. The media is then stored locally on the iPad. You can back the whole Portfolio up to dropbox to retrieve later or import to another device.
I’ve used a lot of these apps over the years and this is the first one I’ve stuck with.

### 5/5 — An Incredible App for showing your photos!

*2015-12-22, version 4.1.3*

This app is fantastic! I got it a while ago for my photography business and love how easy it is to use! There are so many features in this App and the image quality and performance are incredible.

Clients love being able to see their images right in their hands! It has worked great for us to help narrow down photo choices. It has already paid for itself many times over!

### 5/5 — Current version works great, looks great!

*2015-08-08, version 4.0.9*

I've used this app for several years to show prospective clients my work and it has improved with every version! Most everything is customizable and the interface is quite intuitive. When one previous release had serious bugs, the developer responded quickly to the issues and fixed them promptly. For serious professionals, no other app works as reliably and is as polished and stylish (and I've tried a few!) I highly recommend this to anyone who relies on this kind of image dispaly app for their business!

### 5/5 — Really like the companion app

*2015-01-15*

Just came back to this app to add some video … wasn’t sure if it could do it, but it did it with ease - adding my files using the companion app was a breeze, and so easy to figure out. Works well

### 5/5 — Professional Portfolio

*2013-11-25, version 3.1.5*

I have a fine art photography gallery and have setup an iPad kios in the gallery so that customers can browse through my full catalog of images. We've been using it now for almost a year and it has been very well received. Customers love having the freedom to browse and find the navigation to be quite user friendly. For us we've been thrilled with the very clean look and the way that it can handle thousands of images in numerous galleries and subgalleries with ease. We also love the way that it syncs with Dropbox automatically keeping it up-to-date at all times. I love this program and am considering implementing kiosks in my other locations as well. Thanks for such a high quality product and for your continued efforts to keep it the best app out there!
