The translator is good for travels because it works offline in case you are stuck without wifi. You can do voice and photo translation offline too so it’s fast and efficient. Finding this useful for Brazilian and Portuguese which are 90% similar but with some differences. Our app contains over 907,200 verb forms so you can master your conjugation tables. If you don't find a word in the dictionary, a globe icon will appear in the search field. Tap on the globe to look up the word in online resources such as Wiktionary and Wikipedia. A counter is incremented every time this happens so our linguists know which words to add to future versions. Contact app support, already told them I had try uninstall and install the app, reply with advise that I already tried before. I paid an annual fee to avoid ads and game promotions. Now I get ads no matter what, and game promotions (“Save the King!”) take over the app and make it unusable. Dunno ### 2/5 — Useless *2018-01-23, version 7.0 (12)* As someone who's learning Portuguese and needs to check a dictionary 10+ times a day, this app just doesn't cut it for me, both because of its relatively small selection and some obnoxious GUI features. The search function is clunky and difficult to navigate, and the layout of the definition page combined with the sparse definitions makes it difficult to find the translation you want. You also can't search for multi-word phrases, like "do the dishes" -- you have to search for the head word (do) and scroll through a list of phrases containing that word to find the one you want, which often isn't there. I searched for "put away" and got "sacrificar" which apparently means "sacrifice/slaughter an animal". Seriously? In what universe is that a correct translation, and why would it know that but not something basic like "put away"? Even if it just had more everyday vocabulary I would suffer through it, because the competition isn't much better either. You are doing great work. ### 5/5 — More than a Translator *2025-05-20, version 8.4.21* This is a very useful app for learning Portuguese. It can do voice translation in addition to text and image translations, like words in signs or menus. Might be nice to add image recognition with translations at some point. The translators work offline which is really handy when you’re on a plane or off the grid. But this app is so much more than a standard translator like Google or Bing. It has an excellent dictionary which is great for finding usage examples and noun gender which is important in Portuguese. The app has a conjugator with thousands common verbs and you can switch back and forth from the dictionary to the translator. The app also has some fun features to help you practice vocabulary like flashcards and multiple choice quizzes.
