### 2/5 — Has potential

*2026-09-02, version 1.2.1*

I love the idea of this app, it’s a dream come true. I just don’t know many people who can pay for $10 a week to grocery/meal plan.

### 2/5 — Good idea but expensive

*2026-09-01, version 1.2.1*

I like the idea but be prepared to pay 55$ a month for this service. It was too expensive for me.

### 1/5 — behind a paywall

*2026-08-12, version 1.2.1*

$10 a week…… that’s all i need to say. I was so excited for this cause I am getting so creatively bound when it comes to cooking and this was supposed to help me out and I hate how it says plan meals save money you’re not saving money if you’re spending an extra $40 a month for AI to show you pictures of food. Chat GPT is free guys use that instead!!!!

### 1/5 — Don’t understand how this app has 5 stars

*2026-08-10, version 1.2.1*

First of all, this app was promoted to me on instagram as “helpful when you have almost no budget”. Yet they charge $10 a WEEK for meals created with ai. Even the images are ai. If someone only has $50 a week to spend on groceries what makes you think they’ll want to spend that a MONTH on this.

When you click on most recent reviews, almost all of them are 1 star. If you NEED to use ai to make a meal plan just use chat gpt. I wouldn’t be surprised if they used AI to get all these reviews.

### 1/5 — Misleading free trial

*2026-08-04, version 1.2.1*

I love the concept and I was excited to try the app, but after trying to sign up for the free trial, it attempted to charge $29. Lost my trust. I don’t see that price even listed and don’t want random charges coming out of my account.

### 1/5 — Not Free!!

*2026-07-31, version 1.2.1*

they claim that only some features are hidden behind the pay wall but unfortunately it’s literally only free to download. you cannot use a single feature without paying 9.99 a week!

### 1/5 — app

*2026-07-28, version 1.2.1*

horrible source of app doesnt even give you the right information there are way better apps out there

### 1/5 — Do not download or open!

*2026-07-21, version 1.2.1*

This App Charged me twice after I had already cancelled the subscription. Beware!!! They refused to refund me even though I had never even used the App. Do not download this app, there is no way to not get charged.

### 1/5 — Save your money use AI it’s the same thing

*2026-07-21, version 1.2.1*

They let you put in all the info and then hit you with a $50 subscription to see the meals. No thanks. I would have paid for the app, but not a subscription. Also they only let me pick one store. 👎👎👎

### 1/5 — Ai app but charges WEEKLY????

*2026-07-20, version 1.2.1*

How are you gonna make an app, totally ai ran, and charge for it??? $40/ month is NUTS. Seemed like a really cool concept but I’m not paying that for an app that’s 100% ai? It’s not like the recipes are found online and uploaded and then sorted with an algorithm, if that was the case then fine. But they’re not, they’re generated by an ai. I can’t get past the charging for that, really I just can’t. And it’s not like there’s a way around it, you HAVE to pay or you CANT use it, no free option. SMH.

### 1/5 — Do not get

*2026-07-18, version 1.2.1*

App is deceiving. Only plans dinners and truly doesn’t budget for the entire week with other meals

### 1/5 — Close, but no cigar

*2026-07-17, version 1.2.1*

Maybe you should create an app that isn’t a wrapper for an LLM. If you want to see how it is done www.hestiaember.com

### 1/5 — You will get charged

*2026-07-15, version 1.2.1*

I cancelled before the trial expired and I was still charged for the subscription. Refund was denied ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

### 1/5 — Do not sign up

*2026-07-14, version 1.2.1*

This App Charged me twice after I already cancelled the subscription

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Money grab

*2026-09-01, version 1.2.1*

Good in theory until you pay 12.99$ CAD every 7 days just for a meal PLAN. It’s all ai generated but it makes you pay for it instead.

### 1/5 — Waay overpriced

*2026-09-01, version 1.2.1*

I was really hoping I was going to enjoy this app. I was even willing to pay if it gave me the options it says it did. They have a 3 day free trail and then I’d be charged $12.99 a WEEK after that. That’s almost $700 for the year!! There are no other subscription options offered. Try for 3 days then pay a stupid amount of money. Absolutely not! Got excited for nothing. Will be deleting and not even trying the free trial.

### 1/5 — Misleading

*2026-09-01, version 1.2.1*

Costs money. Only offers 3 day trial.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2026-08-31, version 1.2.1*

Literally kept suggesting nothing but chicken dishes. Like don’t get me wrong I like chicken but I ain’t tryna eat chicken 24/7. Not to mention it’s literally just ai generated that you could get from chat GPT for cheaper. I low key thought that it was finna compare grocery store prices to fit my budget but it don’t even do that. And tell me why tf Shaws wasn’t an option for where you shop. Don’t waste ur time.

### 1/5 — Have to pay

*2026-08-31, version 1.2.1*

Do not use, just a waste of so much money. AI can do the same for free just saying

### 1/5 — save your phone storage & money

*2026-08-24, version 1.2.1*

As great as the concept is, the app is deeply flawed and full of AI slop. The images of recipes are so obviously AI, none of the food in the images looks real or edible. On top of that, it’s $10 a week to continue using. If I’m trying to budget for meals, in what world would I want to pay $40 a month for poorly AI-generated recipes?

Not to mention the bugs— I set a budget and the plan it generated was over the budget. It then told me to increase my budget to $100 for “more premium options”, and my budget was already $100.

In theory, an app designed to work with your budget, consider dietary needs, and even be specific to your grocery store sounds wonderful. But this one is not the answer.

### 1/5 — Misleading

*2026-08-24, version 1.2.1*

The app costs 40-50 a month! It charges 10 dollars every 7 days and the “free potto” is misleading. You’re not getting what it advertised for free, just something else

### 1/5 — Shady Pricing

*2026-08-23, version 1.2.1*

Charges you $9.99 a week. That is $520 a YEAR! That is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. But if you go into your subscriptions in your Apple settings, find potto and click on it, it gives you the ability to see all plans. It shows the same potto unlimited plan and 4 different billing options. The options are $6.99 per week, $9.99 per week, $39.99 per year, and $49.99 per year. Seems as if they are just trying to rip you off.

### 1/5 — $10 a week is crazy

*2026-08-22, version 1.2.1*

I didn’t realize this app was charging me $10 a week… that’s $40 a month for so many repeat meals. Save your money!

### 1/5 — False Advertisement

*2026-08-12, version 1.2.1*

In app purchased, false. Your app show be advertised as SUBSCRIPTION REQUIRED TO USE. You go through all the steps and then it tells you how much it cost per week. Even if you click the X it says build a plan which cost you. So nowhere in this app are in app purchases meaning it’s free and if you want to upgrade.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 4/5 — Has potential

*2026-07-29, version 1.2.1*

Great app. Would love to be able to manually input what’s in my fridge and pantry

### 4/5 — Measurements

*2026-07-27, version 1.2.1*

I did the trial, I love the concept but just haven’t been able to commit because the measurements in grams make me a little crazy. It would be great if there was an option to change to it to cups and such.

### 4/5 — Easy Minor Updates

*2026-07-06, version 1.2*

This is what I needed in my life. I don’t want to make any decisions. I don’t want to pick meals, just give me what I’m eating and what I need. However, whenever I regenerate a meal, it won’t update it in the grocery list. So I had a meal on my weekly list that I had no items for. Could be an easy fix? Otherwise 10/10.

### 4/5 — Love so far, but needs more features!

*2026-06-25*

Love this app, has so much potential! I would love to have options to select which meals you want generated for the week (breakfast, lunch, or dinner). Also, would be great if you could add an overall option to switch to generating bi-weekly or monthly meal plans! Some of us don’t want to plan and grocery shop every single week!

**Developer response:** Thank you so much! We're happy to hear you're enjoying Potto. Your suggestions about selecting specific meal types and generating bi-weekly or monthly plans are great ideas. We'll definitely keep them in mind as we continue building new features.

### 3/5 — Cool in theory

*2026-08-26, version 1.2.1*

I have IBS and chose the IBS/LOW FODMAP option and it only recommended me stuff with foods that I cannot have on my diet. The directions are also super vague

### 3/5 — Good concept, needs work

*2026-08-24, version 1.2.1*

I selected simple recipes and excluded a grill for cooking devices. My results had a grill recipe. I shuffled the recipe and it seems the shopping list added the ingredients for the new recipe but it did not seem to remove the ingredients from the previous recipe. It would help if the ingredients and/or quantities had a hyperlink back to the recipe it came from.

I am hoping future updates have more crock pot and pressure cooker recipes. It sems the recipes are limited as after two shuffles of one recipe it tells me there are no more options.

### 3/5 — AI recipes

*2026-08-14, version 1.2.1*

Works as advertised but not worth the money. All recipes are AI generated along with an AI generated photo. You’d be better off using another AI assistant to do the exact same thing for free.

### 3/5 — Always a week behind

*2026-07-19, version 1.2.1*

I do really like this app, but I wish there was an option to change the start of the week to Sunday rather than Monday, because that always puts me a week behind and will always have to go into meal history to find. I do my shopping on Sunday for the upcoming week, but it has Sunday as the last day of the week, so when I do my shopping, that week will be done.
Would really like an option to change if we choose.

### 3/5 — Didn’t work for my budget

*2026-07-11, version 1.2.1*

I knew I couldn’t afford the subscription but even for the 3-day trial it won’t let me enter my real budget for dinners ($50 a week for all meals not just dinners). The app design is nice though.

### 3/5 — Please include more food allergies!

*2026-07-04, version 1.2*

As someone who has alpha gal (red meat allergy) there is no option to include my allergy, making this app insanely hard to use
