## What is Pouch?

Most of us don’t think about our money in individual, rigid categories. Yet it seems like that’s where every budgeting app starts: by defining your categories and setting a monthly limit for each category. You spend the rest of the month trying not to overspend in one category or another and lose sight of your budget as a whole.

Pouch is designed with flexibility in mind. Some months you spend more at the grocery store while others you spend more at restaurants. The goal is to stay within your overall budget, not worrying about overspending in any one category. Pouch uses a tag on every transaction to determine what type of expense you’ve incurred - groceries, mortgage, restaurants, etc. These tags roll up into three main groups that help you answer the big questions about your money:

- Fixed: What do I owe?
- Goals: How far can I go?
- Flex: What do I have left?

With Pouch, you can see how a single transaction affects your overall budget, or you can drill down into Fixed, Goals or Flex to track your spending habits at a more granular level. Some days you want to be in the weeds of your finances, while others you just need a quick way to manage your expenses. Pouch allows you to do both!
